Fortuna had a change of command...

... and more crew added. A carpenter is making repairs near the bow while the captain, first lieutenant, and lieutenant of Marines confer on the busy quarterdeck. Meanwhile, one hot sailor is in for a tongue lashing by one of the senior non-comms once he's back on board.

May have gone overboard with extra crew for the Fortuna..

Going for a Royal Navy/Master & Commander vibe... blue uniforms for the officers & mids, Royal Marines in red, etc ... plus, way more animals for that tiny manger.

For the naval officers, gold eps for the captain, white for first lieutenant, yellow for second, and red for the midshipmen.

For the Marines, white (and unique uniform and hat) for the lieutenant, yellow for the sergeant, and light yellow for two corporals, with the privates in red.

The petty officers are in striped tops with blue jackets, or coveralls for the carpenters. Sailing master in the black vest.

I think I'm going to need to build something else for these guys...

Trying to find an episode...

I would have seen this (most likely) when the X-Files was still in first-run.

It's set in a suburb. It's sort of a planned community, where all the houses are the same. I believe the antagonist either changes shape into Mulder or someone else. I think a bathroom plays a significant role. Might be something about a bush? Or foliage?

Just been thinking about it lately and want to rewatch it!

Weird Find My issue

Hi all. Trying to understand something.

I think I left my AirPods at work yesterday. I didn't notice until I was on the Metro because I left with some coworkers for lunch and went home after.

I checked Find My and it said they were in my bag. I couldn't find them, but I had a lot of stuff in there. I checked a couple of times enroute home and it always indicated they were in my proximity.

When I got home, I completely emptied my bag and they are clearly not here. (I also checked again this morning). However, Find Me still tells me they're close. Playing sounds also hasn't helped me locate them.

Is it possible Find My has been tracking something other than my AirPods? Like my phone? (That's the only other trackable Apple product I typically carry with me). I'm assuming my AirPods are at my desk but alas the office is closed today so there's no one I can ask to check (and I don't intend to go in until next week).

Thanks for any insight!

Nog Does a Brave

What was your favorite "Nog Does a Brave" moment?

I think mine has to be when Nog tells Sisko why he wants to be in Starfleet; second, though, is when he stands up to Martok.

Apple digital box set version of All Good Things Pts I & II - and complete ...

If you have the digital copy of TNG via Apple, the combined "All Good Things" is now available in addition to the syndicated version of the episode where it's split into two and loses some scenes.

Regrettably, the Apple version of Deep Space Nine only has the syndicated versions of "Way of the Warrior" and "What We Leave Behind" (although perhaps those are coming).

Hains Point

I grew up in Adelphi and then Columbia, and I've lived in DC proper for almost twenty years, and I realized the other day that I don't think I've ever been to Hains Point (maybe when I was very very young).

So I fixed that today! Drove down (bright and early) and parked near the Tidal Basin. Walked two miles down the Potomac to the very tip of Hains Point, then looped back along Washington Channel.

Not a lot of car traffic. Some runners, some guys fishing, folks on bicycles, lots of fish on the sidewalk on the Potomac side...

Anyway, lovely morning for it! According to my pedometer it was about a four and a half mile walk. I'll be on the sofa for the rest of the day -- anything new on streaming to binge?

Saw this fellow this AM down on the National Mall (chilly but beautiful weather to walk the Mall which I haven't done in years). I don't think I've ever seen this pattern on a squirrel before! White with goldish brown patterns.
