Taking a break from egg duty she’s come to say hello. I’m glad she feels comfortable to be around me, even if she’s very skittish and will flee if you make even the smallest movement.
I don’t get to take close up videos of her outside her cube too often. Once I receive an email she’s all AH! ESCAPE! SCARY SOUND!
Pibbin would like to come out as well but he’ll have to wait his turn has he & Blue like to fight.
At least, he thinks he’s winning an argument over Snowy & ‘Papa Boxgeon’ (Blue’s dad). I don’t think they’re even aware he exists but don’t tell him that.

I also forgot to post it before but it was Blue’s first birthday on 2nd August. Happy birthday my little tough turnip!

They were out of their cage for hours but decided this tiny bowl was the ideal place to bathe.
Sometimes I just like to watch them. So peaceful.
Last night she was well fed and was walking better but we woke up to seeing her droopy and both legs were numb. It was already too late. She was rushed immediately to the emergency vet but they suspect critical organ failure.
She was an incest baby (parents are brother & sister). Pepper was never going to make it. We tried our best.
I am so sorry everyone. I was hoping to give much better news today.
She’s gone…
We noticed Pepper has a limp and isn’t walking properly. The right foot appears to be partially paralysed.
We’ve taken Peps to the vet and there is no feeling in the right foot whatsoever. So this poor little darling may have to become our fourth rescue pidge. He’ll never be able to walk :(
I’m so glad it’s Sunday and I was home to see the state s/he was in. The parents (Snowy & Scruffy, who are also brother & sister) are terrible but fortunately this little fella hatched on my balcony. No pigeon on my watch is going to freeze this Winter!
It’s nice and clean now, enjoying a cosy spot in front of the heater. We need a name for the little darling.
She’s been laying healthy eggs lately (we have replaced them with fake ones). Melly recently finished her latest moult and is looking pretty as ever. She’s 1 year old.
