Left for a job at Big Tech and it's embarrassing how far behind the tech stack is compared to chase

just ranting, I never thought id actually be saying this but it's crazy how chase's tech stack and role on my old team was actually more modern and coding focused than my one now, holy shit. at this point if chase weren't ramming 5 day rto i would heavily consider just going back

Moving to Austin next week! Stuck between Avenir and SkyHouse and I don't know which to pick 😭

30M, Moving away from home for the first time to Austin from Florida! I visited both properties and liked skyhouse, proximity to the trail seemed really nice as well.

Avenir was a nice property too, although it's kind of right in front of a highway and doesn't really seem to have anything immediately close by the way SkyHouse does, BUT, Avenir has gas stoves and they also have 8 weeks free + $500USD gift card for move in. Skyhouse also just renovated all their units and they look quite nice.

Really tough call. The thing I value most is having some walkability near where I live.

Does anyone have any experience with either apartment? Which one do you prefer?

New grad got stuck in a low code / SDET adjacent role, how do I let my manager know in our 1:1 that this was not what I wanted?

got a return offer from an internship at a famous game company and I'm already learning some alarming things about my new role. For context, my previous manager got promoted(?) or moved to a different team and my previous team was soft reorged.

This new team I'm being placed on doesn't actually do any coding or building. They don't own any features in the game. They just write c# scripts for bots to play the game / go through menus and fish for bugs / crashes.

I've already spoken with some of my old coworkers and they've confirmed that the team I was placed on is basically more of a support team and that there isn't any coding or building, but that "after i get some more experience" i can probably jump to a more exciting team.

Personally I think that that's kinda BS, especially since it's not guaranteed. I'd be stuck learning proprietary non-transferable skills for a year before having a chance at doing something real, especially amidst layoffs coming soon. It really sucks because everyone in my cohort got placed on an actual gameplay team whereas I got stuck on this one.

My career is very important to me, and I don't really know what to do with this information. I really, really don't want to be stuck in a role that is historically first on the layoff chopping block. How should I approach this with my manager in my 1:1?

Doordash punishes customers who tip, lately.

I live in a slower market (have doordashed here) and the amount of times my order gets stacked with someone elses is insane. Obviously I can't tell if the other mines got stacked with is a non tipping one, but from previous experience dashing I know that that's usually how it goes (tipped order gets stacked with non tipping one that nobody is picking up)

It's just frustrating. I want to support dashers, but i'm actively being punished doing so by having my food always arrive an hour+ later and cold.

[30M] Just signed my first apartment lease!!! So excited but also don't have any idea how to style it. What are some suggestions?

I was considering getting a used pool table off fb marketplace and refurbish it myself, and also wanted my computer setup to be outside the bed room but was concerned that there might not be enough space for a pool table, couch, tv, and computer set. What are your thoughts?

looking online, I really like the brutalism / loft look.
