Anyone else feel like a "bad gay"

My team at work has a sort of social call every 2 weeks. Someone on the team makes a presentation on something that interests them to the rest of the team, and then we talk about it.

I got asked to talk about LGBTQ issues, since I am the only member of the rainbow community on my team.

The problem is, I'm not involved in the rainbow community in any way. I don't know what the issues are really, and I don't even know what all the letters stand for.

I have a partner that I've been with for many many years, and we just live our life like any other couple.

Mostly, I don't even think about being in the rainbow community. I just live my life. I know this is a privilege that not everyone has, but it is my reality.

But, then I get asked stuff like this and I feel like I'm a "bad gay". Like because I'm in the rainbow community, I should be involved, I should know what these letters mean, I should be..... more something.

But in truth, I just want to live my life like everyone else does.

Am i actually a "bad gay"? Does anyone else feel like this?

You can only speak in movie quotes

You must select one movie. For the rest of your life you can only speak using quotes from this one movie. Talking with your partner, your kids, your boss, interviewing for a new job, meeting at the bank, best man speech, etc... All of it must come from this one movie.

You can speak sentences out of order, but they must still be full sentences from this movie. No partial sentences, or single words unless they are already spoken like that in the movie.

What movie are you picking?

How do people who work M-F 9-5 get to medical appointments?

After several decades of shift work, I'm about to start my first M-F 9-5 job.

I'm used to being able to juggle my sleep schedule around so that I can be free during the daytime to go to appointments when needed.

This is my one biggest concern about this new job, getting to appointments.

Like, how do I go get bloodwork done 4 times a year? How do I get to see my doctor? Or a specialist?

I assume I have to book time off for this, but is that the normal thing employees do? Are bosses used to this?

I've never had to ask a boss for time off for my minor medical stuff. What is the normal way to navigate this??

Over loaded apple tree

Our old apple tree is so overloaded this year that the branches are touching the ground. This is the first year it's done this.

What's the best solution for this tree so next summer it holds the fruit better?

What food Doesn't spike you as bad as you thought it would?

I had one good sized blueberry pancake this morning with butter and whipped cream, no syrup. (With a couple eggs, some bacon and sausage)

I waited for the spike... but my sugar totally started in range! No big ass spike!

I eat a muffin.... in through the roof!

If all the money in the world was evenly distributed

When I looked this up, I found:

"If all global wealth (estimated around $250 trillion in assets and money) were split equally among the Earth's population of roughly 8 billion people, every person would receive about $31,000 to $32,500 USD.

While this would instantly lift billions out of extreme poverty, it would simultaneously cause a massive global economic collapse."

Would you want this distribution to happen?

What would be the benefits or repercussions to you personally?

Do the benefits to those with less outweigh the repercussions to those with more?

Could this be THE answer, or is it definitely a recipe for disaster?

What's the maximum number of the same word can you use consecutively, and still be grammatically correct?

The best I can think of is 5 "that"s. As in:

Did you notice that that "that" that that man wrote is spelled incorrectly?

What weird habits do you have now because of Stephen King?

Stephen King is the reason I can't sleep with the closet door open, not even cracked open a tiny bit. He is also the reason I can't have an arm or leg dangling over the side of the bed while I sleep.

What about you?

One perfect wish

*POOF* A genie appears in front of you!

It tells you that it will grant you "one perfect wish".

If you are able to word your wish so that there are no possible side effects, downfalls, or monkey paws, your wish will be granted.

You cannot wish for more wishes.

If the genie can think of any way to monkey paw your wish, then the wish will not be granted but the monkey paw effect will still happen.

What is your one perfect wish?

If you love Stephen King, you might like....

No one beats the Master of Macabre..... but who do you like to read between new SK books, and re-reading old ones?

Would love some suggestions, other than Dean Koontz.

Looking for song - waiting at the church?

Hey friends, I heard this song on CBC Radio (Canada) like 30 something years ago, but have never been able to find it again.

All I can remember about it is the line "waiting at the church" which was sung in a cockney accent. I seen to remember that this line was repeated several times throughout the song, so it might have been part of the chorus?

Over the years this one line gets stuck in my head every now and then. Could you please help me to be able to listen to the full song one more time?

Places for filling water jugs

Looking for some free public water filling stations for filling water jugs. Anywhere in Truro or Colchester would be great!

Our well is already dangerously low, and we're trying to conserve as much as possible.

Aside - after hurricane Fiona, the RECC had a filling station available for public use....i wish they would offer this during times of drought as well.
