In defence of using they/it:
Making the dragons nonbinary was an active decision from the English localisation team, not a mistake (a false idea that I myself had until recently!)
They're dragons, above flatster nonsense like 'gender'... (lol)

In defence of not using they/it:
The original texts gendered speech, titles, and characterisation are all used for the dragons.
(Meaning the dragons were intended by their creators to have genders)

In conclusion, taking from both sides of the argument; I think we should be free to use whichever pronouns we think fit.

The dragons do have intended genders, but the English translation made a choice to present them as non binary.

Note: This isn't about being anti-nonbinary or dismissing anyone's identity!
I do see some of the dragons as non binary (Lotus), but others I see as gendered (Pitiya).

This isn't meant to stir any discourse, just sharing my thoughts! Please be nice 😭

If you think this joke is genuinely racist you've never experienced a genuinely racist joke before.

For example, once in school someone said 'Don't leave her alone with your backpack' because they heard me speaking Lebanese to my dad on the phone, and their friend started saying gibberish like 'habibi alalalala boom boom'.

The weather is hot, but it's never too hot to enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

That day, Espresso learnt an important lesson. The world was a cruel, illogical place.

Sosuke- He's laid-back and humble, which helps balance out all the weirdos (affectionate) in the series. I also relate to his love of drawing, and think his design is neat.

Ryoma- He started off a bit rough but he's shown himself to be quite selfless + a very good advisor. He's grumpy but kindhearted, a trope I love! (+I enjoy his dynamic with Itona).

Takuya- Aww... just look at his little smirk. Little. Little. Little guy. He's so silly. Him and his ramen. Silly ramen boy. So weasel-y. Silly silly ramen boy. Silly.

Kirara- She makes me giggle whenever she comes on screen. Even her name makes me giggle; it doesn't suit her at all. (+I love her style!)

Takebayashi- He chooses friendship over elitism and I really like the guy for it. He's also a cutie patootie, just look at that silly haircut.

I mostly made this post because I NEED to glaze my goats.

My personal favourite is the one 'Espresso when he sees Madeleine' but maybe that's just me

Attached some messages I found online as receipts, people are really passionate about hating dolphins, which makes me sad.

Dolphins are really fascinating. They possess almost human-like intelligence and have complex social structures (random horse nudges me) easy there girl, haha. They are self-aware, use tools, and even talk to each other using signature whistles that act basically like names

But at the end of the day, they're ANIMALS and you can't hold them to HUMAN standards😭

Also what's with all the shark VS dolphin rhetoric?? Why can't we like both?? (Although we all agree ANY mollusc is ultimately better than both, right? Right.)

He might look intimidating, but he's quite shy and polite! (especially with strangers)

It's quite freeing to draw a character without bothering to stick to their canon design, you can just do whatever you feel like
