What companies make good quality rated gear with zero branding?

I’m actually good for now on gear I do keep a lookout for sales and better things and to expand riding during different conditions, so I have to ask, what companies are out there making quality rated (preferably leather) gear that’s not branded all to hell? I just seems like some of the best stuff out there turns you into a rolling advertisement with giant in-your-face clothing branding close to being out of the movie Idiocracy. Where are the subtle classic and timeless looking garments that actually hold high safety standards? I’d love to add a brown cafe style leather jacket with UV reflective tanning, arm, chest, and back venting, and CE rated elbow, shoulder, and back armor, with ZERO exposed branding.

I installed a CarPlay and Dash Cam Unit.

I bought a Carpuride W603 on Amazon Prime day for about $160. I got this unit because it’s 6” screen size (I did not want a giant screen), and this was the smallest screen that also had a front and rear dash cam. Here’s the result.

So before diving into it, I was reviewing the wiring diagrams looking for switched power sources, and was going to tie into the black wire feeding the USB charger under the seat. The black wire is 12V switched power (see picture). I was just going to cut and solder in power there. I measured amps from the unit and they were very low at about 0.2A at 12V, so no worries about taking power feeding the USB charger and it’s 10A circuit. But reading the manual for the Carpuride, they have the option to feed power from a USB source if the source can supply 4.5V at 2.5A. The USB charger on the Hornet is rated at 5V and 3A. Score. So off the Microcenter for an adapter for USB C to A. Everything works great.

For the dash cam cameras, my original plan was to mount the front camera under the headlight where you couldn’t see it. Well, looking at the rated 130mm front fork travel, it runs the risk to crash into the front fender if you were to bottom out the front shock. So I couldn’t find any good spot and just gave up and stuck it down on top of the brake reservoir. Rear camera I stuck down on top of the license plate light on the rear fender.

The rest of the time was spent zip tying and looming wire up and out of the way and making sure steering is not impacted. Here’s the results.

Has anyone tried to install counter surveillance cameras around police stations and government buildings?

Since governments won't listen to The People and keep installing the trackers everywhere, has anyone tried to install a publicly accessible tracking network around police stations so we can see all the vehicles that go in and out of secure lots, and government buildings where lawmakers work to see what vehicles are going in and out of those parking lots on a daily basis? Think this would force the privacy conversation, or would they just pass some laws making "privacy for me, but not for thee". In theory, if enough privately owned cameras all connected to the same publicly accessible database and used AI to identify police and government vehicles, we could track all police vehicles location live and display it on a map.

New Motorcycle boots. Indie Ridge.

Went a little different this time. I wanted a new motorcycle boots with a CE safety rating that I can also wear to the office (supposed to be business casual, but so many people in sloppy dad gym shoes, jeans, and untucked polos.) I went for these Indie Ridge Crossfield perforated boot. Carries a certified CE safety 1,2,2,2. So far so good. Very thick padding on the sides with ankle protectors. Perforations to move a little air while riding. A little stiff, which is expected from new leather armored motorcycle boot, but shifting and braking was not a problem. Initial comfort is good. Feels like a high top sneaker, but stiffer with more padding, and made with nice Nubuck leather. The insole is removable. I’m happy with the purchase so far.

What dash cam are you running and how do you have it set up? Share your pictures for inspiration.

I’m looking for a dash cam setup and wanted to see what others are running with success. So if you’re happy with your setup, please share a picture of your installation and what product you bought. Thanks.

OEM Tank Protector Part Number

I want a center tank protector pad and was going to get an OEM pad, but when I go to the Honda accessory website they only have side pads listed for purchase. You can see the center pad in the pictures, but nothing shows up to purchase. Can someone post up the part number if you have it?

Pulled her home yesterday.

Yeah yeah, it looks like everyone else’s, but this one is mine. Had to jump on the discounts on the 2025 and get one without the eclutch. 2.5 hr trip out of town to a dealer with the best deal. Saved $800 over the local dealers with a $20 U-Haul rental, a day of vacation (I have too much), and borrowing my Dad’s SUV with a trailer hitch.
