How efficient is the police?

Serious question for actual citizens living in Botswana. How efficient is the police in preventing foreign and domestic criminal networks from becoming entrenched in the country? How fast is their response to crimes? Are there things you wish they would improve? Crimes seem to have increased apparently. The difficult economic situation is definitely at fault, but I hope the country is actively trying to deal with this.

Botswana can study Israel to deal with its environmental constraints

Botswana should study Israel's approach to water and agriculture—not because the two countries are identical, but because Israel demonstrates an important principle: difficult environmental conditions can be managed when a country treats them as engineering and infrastructure challenges rather than permanent limitations.

Botswana has enormous amounts of land and a very small population, but much of its territory is arid and agricultural productivity is constrained by rainfall, soils and water availability. Those constraints don't only affect farming. Reliable water is also necessary for housing, factories, industrial parks, businesses and the development of entirely new economic centers.

Israel responded to severe water constraints with decades of investment in drip irrigation, wastewater recycling, desalination, reservoirs, precision agriculture, water monitoring, drought-resistant crops and agricultural research. Botswana doesn't need to copy every Israeli solution, and it certainly doesn't need to make its entire territory agricultural. The lesson is to maximize the productivity of the land and water that are actually suitable for development.

That means identifying Botswana's best agricultural and development zones and building the infrastructure around them: irrigation, reservoirs, groundwater management, wastewater reuse, efficient farming, roads, electricity, housing, food processing and industrial facilities.

The emerging Lesotho-Botswana water project is a potentially important part of this strategy. But even if it succeeds, imported water should be viewed as one component of a broader national water strategy, alongside conservation, recycling, storage, groundwater management and more efficient irrigation.

This matters for Botswana's economic diversification. If the country wants to move beyond dependence on diamonds, it needs the infrastructure to support the businesses and industries that will replace them. Water is therefore not just an environmental issue—it is economic infrastructure.

And Botswana has a major advantage: space.

With roughly 582,000 km² of territory and only around 2.6 million people, Botswana doesn't need to make every part of the country productive. It can concentrate capital and infrastructure in the areas with the greatest potential and gradually build highly productive development corridors.

The goal shouldn't be to ask, "How do we overcome Botswana's environment?"

It should be:

"How do we use engineering, technology and infrastructure to get far more economic value from Botswana's land and water?"

Israel shows that environmental constraints don't necessarily have to determine a country's economic ceiling.

Botswana should study that example seriously.

How does being landlocked and having water scarcity affect Botswana?

Botswana is a landlocked country, and it is known to have water scarcity. Do normal citizens notice this disadvantage in their lives? How does it affect you and the country?

Why are clients paying per month for SEO instead of just outlining the results they want, and paying when achieved?

Serious question. Really confused about this. If the clients outlined the results they want, isn't it easier to deliver those results? You can just assess the difficulty and time to bring those results based on the state of their website, and set a price or milestones for payment. Put it all in a contract with a withdrawal payment if they decide to back out before the final result is achieved, after you actually achieved a predetermined milestone result to trigger the withdrawal payment. If they like the result, you can move to a monthly plan. At least that way, we wouldn't be getting any scamming stories.

Large Open Land as an asset

Botswana has a unique advantage compared to other African countries: space, stability, and existing experience in industries such as mining.

However, land alone does not create development. Botswana must focus on investments where its strengths outweigh challenges such as its small population, landlocked position, limited industrial base, and infrastructure constraints.

One realistic opportunity is becoming a mining equipment and industrial services hub for Southern Africa. Botswana already has mining activity, creating demand for equipment maintenance, engineering, technology, and specialized services. Developing these industries locally would create technical skills, businesses, and expertise that can support both Botswana and the wider region.

Another opportunity is specialized industrial and manufacturing campuses. Botswana should not compete with large manufacturing economies based on cheap labor or mass production. Instead, it should target industries where stability, security, and location provide value, such as mining-related equipment, industrial supplies, food processing, and specialized manufacturing. The goal should be attracting companies that bring technology, train workers, and help develop local suppliers.

Botswana can also explore specialized testing and development zones. Its large open areas and low population density create potential for testing mining technology, agricultural technology, autonomous systems, and climate-related solutions. However, these opportunities should be developed realistically by first building the infrastructure and skills needed to support them.

The investment strategy should be based on partnership. Botswana should provide a stable business environment and controlled access to its land, while companies provide capital, technology, training, and industry development.

Botswana must maintain control by keeping ownership of strategic land, protecting national interests, requiring skills transfer, and ensuring investments create long-term value for the country.

The goal should not be for foreign companies to simply use Botswana. The goal should be for companies to invest because Botswana offers something valuable, while Botswana gains industries, skills, and greater economic independence.

Botswana should invest more in online visibility and national branding

Botswana should position itself as Africa's leading destination for long-term investment, entrepreneurship, and innovation by pairing genuine economic reform with a world-class digital communication strategy. The country is facing real challenges, including unemployment, slower growth following the downturn in the diamond sector, public concerns about corruption, and the urgent need to diversify its economy. These issues should not be hidden. Instead, they should be presented alongside the government's response. Since taking office, President Duma Boko's administration has introduced initiatives aimed at attracting investment, expanding manufacturing, strengthening agriculture, creating jobs, and reducing dependence on diamonds. Many of these projects are still in their early stages, so they should be communicated as part of a long-term transformation rather than as completed successes. Consistently reporting measurable progress will build credibility with both citizens and investors.

Botswana can also learn an important lesson from Burkina Faso's rise in online visibility: in today's world, a country's reputation is shaped not only by its policies but also by how effectively those policies are communicated. Through frequent online content, media coverage, and widespread discussion by independent creators, Burkina Faso has developed a digital presence that keeps it highly visible in search engines and social media. Botswana does not need to imitate its political messaging, but it should ensure that its own reforms, business opportunities, and investment potential are just as easy to discover. Investing in search engine optimization (SEO), high-quality official websites, multilingual content, documentaries, interviews, business case studies, and partnerships with independent content creators would help ensure that anyone researching opportunities in Africa can readily find accurate and compelling information about Botswana.

Perhaps Botswana's greatest advantage is that its story does not need to rely on a single leader. It can be built on democratic institutions, policy continuity, and a population that is actively engaged in the country's future. Public discussions often extend beyond criticism of unemployment, governance, and economic conditions to include proposals for reform, entrepreneurship, skills development, and ways to diversify the economy. That willingness among many citizens to debate ideas, start businesses, and contribute solutions is an asset that should be embraced and highlighted. By combining an engaged society with effective implementation of reforms and a modern digital branding strategy, Botswana can build a reputation that is both credible and enduring—one based not on slogans, but on measurable progress, institutional strength, and a shared commitment to building a more prosperous future.

Summarized with chatgpt. Technically speaking, Botswana is in a much better position than Burkina Faso is, but it's not marketing itself as such. Drop your thoughts down in the comment.

Reflecting on the value of money in a God centered world

I don't think money was meant to exist in the world centered on God. That is because that world functions like the human body. God as the command center (brain) would guide the functions of the cells (people) in the body, to maintain the body in good health. If a requirement like money was needed for the cells to work together, so many issues would arise, and the body would be constantly diseased and die early. Money is supposed to be representative of trust, but the cells have no other choice but to trust each other. So then how would the society of heaven function without money. Suppose that a field need to do farming. People could do the physical labor in exchange for sharing the harvest. People could build the machines needed for this in exchange for a part of the harvest/produce/results of the work the machines are used for. And so on. It would no longer be work, but fulfilling each other's shared needs. No one would waste their time trying to hoard anything because they can obtain anything relatively fast. People would prioritize what to produce based on what is needed. Everyone would eventually have what is needed, or what they enjoy having, while making sure to manage scarcity to avoid conflict and achieve mutual prosperity. When God creative ability comes in play, it wouldn't be surprising if he could just create whatever we lack. In fact, I wonder if human beings are not primarily responsible for the scarcity of resources on earth. On the other hand, the damage done by money and capitalism is ridiculously high. People go ahead and work like zombies everyday because they need money to practically live. Then there is the bills...the needs...the wants...and repeat.

Looking for thoughts and reflections. I am not an expert, but this came to me, so I wanted to share it and see what people say. Not saying I am right, but well, the argument seems interesting.

Botswana/Africa should take South Korea as an example

Botswana and Africa can look to South Korea as an example of how a country with limited natural advantages can transform itself through education, technology, industrialization, disciplined governance, and strategic economic planning. South Korea’s success came from investing heavily in human capital, developing skilled engineers and entrepreneurs, building manufacturing expertise, protecting strategic industries, creating globally competitive companies, and turning knowledge into high-value exports. Africa’s advantage is that it already possesses many of the natural resources needed for modern industries, but it must develop the skills, infrastructure, research institutions, reliable energy systems, and governance needed to transform raw materials into finished products. Botswana, with its political stability, small population, and resource wealth, could especially learn from South Korea’s focus on diversification beyond a single resource by investing in technology, manufacturing, and innovation. Stronger Botswana–South Korea and Africa–South Korea partnerships could include technical training programs, joint ventures in mining technology, renewable energy, battery materials, agriculture technology, manufacturing, and digital industries, allowing South Korea to gain secure resource partnerships while Africa gains the expertise and industrial knowledge needed to build self-sustaining economies. The goal would not be to copy South Korea exactly, but to combine South Korea’s technological and industrial strengths with Africa’s resource and demographic advantages to create a new model of development.

Chatgpt conclusion. Just wanted to post this to highlight how much untapped potential is in Africa. It's practically ridiculous. I hope young people in Africa can find some hope in this.

What about the other crimes (ritual killing, murder, robbery etc...)? Are all of these issues prevalent? What is being done to put an end to these? Thanks in advance to those who will take the time to answer.

looking for USA Founders with revenue-generating products

I'm looking to partner with a USA founder who has already built a unique product that's generating real revenue, but does not currently have the resources to invest in SEO yet.

For me, this is a chance to improve my SEO skills and build real case studies by working on actual businesses.

I will do it completely free, and be transparent about the work I'm doing. I'm not looking for equity or payment. However, if the results are valuable and you eventually decide you want to keep working together, we can discuss that later. If not, that's completely fine too.

Leave a comment if you are interested, or send me a DM with your product, what it does, and your current website. Thank you.

Looking for an SEO junior or apprentice role in the USA

First of all, grateful to those who will take the time to read this post.

I am currently looking to start my career in SEO, and actively seeking a junior, apprentice, or entry-level remote opportunity where I can learn and contribute alongside an experienced professional or team. I spent the last few months researching how SEO is done in 2026, and compiled a list of 32 strategies with instructions to apply them. I am currently working on applying them to a platform I built. If you, your company, or someone in your network is looking for a motivated individual who is committed to learning and growing, I would greatly appreciate your consideration and any advice you can provide. I am flexible on compensation as long as I can get valuable work experience in the process.

Botswana and Namibia merge?

I just saw this reddit post and it got me thinking: https://www.reddit.com/r/Botswana/comments/q6pqix/what_if_namibia_botswana_zimbabwe_became_a_single/

I disagree with that proposal completely because Zimbabwe was included. But when you think about the possibility of Botswana and Namibia merging, even though I know how impossible it looks, the result could really be interesting. Their populations is already too low compared to the countries they border. Economically, there may be more advantages, but the political side is probably more disadvantageous. I have seen people mention merging with south Africa, but I think this one would be way better.

Still though, don't think it is gonna happen. Maybe if war erupted in the area, it could happen. Wouldn't be the fault of these 2 countries, but you can't say the same about the countries they border. Anyway, please don't be offended by this post, and I apologize if it does offend someone. I just wanted to hear about your opinions.

Witchcraft?

I know that poor African countries tend to have witchcraft issues. But Botswana is among the few upper middle income countries in Africa, and with the lower population, I am wondering if you still hear issues of witchcraft. If yes, why does it happen, or what type of circumstances surround it? Is it rare or common?

Just wondering if there is anyone who has a good reason to want to improve education accessibility. For most people, education accessibility is not the problem, but putting in genuine effort is. Someone who genuinely cares about education accessibility

I made this post, but I am not genuinely looking for someone. The reason is that based on the replies I have read here, I doubt I will find anyone. Anyway, if you are someone who genuinely care about education access, but feel like it is currently not optimal, write down a comment explaining why. I will get back to you if it feels like you are sincere. Don't want to know about your skills, work experience, qualifications. Good day to you.
