Bought my first Hilleberg, a Nallo 3gt in 2005 and spent many awesome nights in it in Swedish Lapland over a total of 17 years. After that I stopped using the tent and while it had been gathering dust for a few years I decided to sell it.

Moved to a Kaitum 4gt when our two kids were young. After a year or two we bought a second hand Allak 3 to create some more room when not hiking. As every Hilleberg, the Allak is a beautifully made tent but I couldn't love it like I did the Nallo and the Kaitum. Mostly because of the immense amount of hooks and guy lines being too intimate with each other. Also, the lack of a decent entrance when it pours was something I could not get used to.

Well, I sold that tent a couple of weeks ago and went all nostalgic over the Nallo again. Found a really good deal at a major outdoor retailer in The Netherlands which allowed me to stack discounts to a total of 28%.

Now I have both the Kaitum 4gt and the Nallo 3gt and believe me, this makes me soooo happy.

Considering a very light 1p tent to accompany the Kaitum when trekking with the four of us since the kids are getting older. Open for suggestions!

Ordered a new Nallo 3gt which I received today. The packaging concerns me, it was stuffed in this plastic bag. Contacted the store which told me it could be exchanged but that this packaging should generally not be a problem since the shipper is a "business" shipper. I am worried about someone stepping it during transport. It was also delivered to the wrong house without notice, luckily that neighbour brought it to me quickly.

I inspected the poles but haven't had time and room yet to pitch it indoors to check for damages.

Considering exchange.

Am I overreacting?

Edit: I understand that I shouldn't be worried too much about the state of the tent. Some people were rude about making that point, which I find strange and have not seen here before. I've only encountered such unfounded, single word reactions on r/durstongearheads and r/ultralight.

Some others tried to understand where I come from, having experience with my tent being stepped on.

Pitching the tent to examine it myself and deeming it good carries the responsibility for damages instantly to myself.

I am returning the tent, exchanging for another.

Hi, not sure if this is allowed but I am selling my Allak 3. It's in perfect condition. I'm located in the Netherlands and it's currently on marketplace. It has not been used many nights. Just a couple every summer, so maybe 20-30 nights on it.

Always used it in. Northern Europe.

Selling because moving back to a Nallo 3gt.

Hello everybody,

Today I walked into a local thrift store, one of the most boring collections ever. Upon leaving the store I noticed two old calculators with VFD's. As I find those pretty and they were only 6 euros a piece I bought them.

The battery springs and plates were heavily corroded so I had to spend some time to take the calculators apart and clean them. Now they work and my little project is over. :(

Maybe I'll use one next to my computer while playing satisfactory.

Following this sub for over a year now. Started a plotter build on a old Ender 5 3d printer. Wasn't awesome.

Wanted to do it again, and a bit better. Smaller form factor, removed the Z-axis from the printer and mounted the x and y on a board. Flashed the controller board with a custom klipper configuration and made it wireless accessible from within a browser.

Then struggled with the many programs that are out there to reliably and quick generate gcode to batch write Christmas cards (bad handwriting from myself). Went on a spree, vibe-coding a python script to do it. Tweaked it a bunch to allow for multiple "Hershey" fonts and custom envelope sizes. Also made a template to simulate address lines from postcards to align the address precisely.

The application has a rule to home the head and pause the plot when a address is written so you can place a new one and press the red button on the controller to proceed plotting the next address.

Then went as far as to compile the script to an executable and now I'm done. Everything works as intended. The plotter even has rubber feet. Haha.

Only wish is a bit better cable management

Hi everyone,

We are looking after a tortoise from my daughter's primary school during the holidays. She is fed only pointed cabbage and two supplements. There is no water dish, as the tortoise supposedly gets all the moisture she needs from the pointed cabbage.

According to the school, it is a desert tortoise. However, when I look it up, it appears to be a Russian tortoise (Testudo horsfieldii). I would like to be more certain about the species before approaching the teacher with potentially incorrect advice. The tortoise is about 20 cm long and quite heavy. I won't be able to take new photos or measure her until she comes out of her little house.

Hi everyone. In a week's time, we're heading back to Sweden for a holiday. We've done this every year so far and absolutely love it.

For the past few years, we've made a point of shopping at the end of the trip to bring some tasty treats home with us. Must-haves for us include senapssill, hjortronsylt (if not able to make ourselves) and various ingredients for cooking and baking at home.

What are the essential items you rely on to get a taste or experience of Sweden every now and then while you're back home? Thanks in advance for all the great ideas!

Hello everybody, I could use some advice.

I got a Skeppshult waffle Iron for my birthday. The pan sticks like crazy, we have several other De Buyer carbon steel pans that work fine after seasoning. Seasoned this pan too. Maybe not enough. Who knows. There seems to be little Info about the exact procedure to bake waffles with it. At this moment it seems like rocket science to me. [The waffle gets stuck ](https://postimg.cc/yDJBjqCr)and then we use our old €15,- electric waffle iron to get some food on the table.

About to sell the thing, any advice is welcome.

Vlak voor de hittegolf geconstateerd dat de airco van m'n wagen, Avensis 2012, defect is. Omdat het een kikker in de pan effect is heb ik zo waarschijnlijk een poosje doorgereden. Gebruikend de auto niet meer zo vaak sinds de aanschaf van een 108.

Dus maar de garage. Vriendelijke vent. Condensor zou lek zijn. Gevraagd de aircopomp ook na te kijken. Diagnose en herstel van de condensor kwam neer op ongeveer €550 euro. Gedaan ondanks de centenpijn, verwachtend dat hierna alles weer zou werken.

Helaas bleek na de vervanging dat er onvoldoende koele lucht uit de blazers kwam. Teruggegaan, gevraagd of de druk voor en na de pomp wel oke was. Vul hoeveelheid. Multiriem had ook 2 lichte strepen en de pulley van de waterpomp was wat ruw. Dit zou allemaal geen probleem zijn en de milde koeling was het maximaal haalbare.

Second opinion gevraagd bij een andere garage. Waterpomp moet vervangen, multiriem zou op knappen staan met risico op motorschade en de aircopomp functioneert nauwelijks. Kostenplaatje: nogeens €1450 euro.

Nu wil ik niet kniertig zijn maar als ik had geweten dat deze reparatie zulke hoge kosten zou brengen had ik overwogen deze in te ruilen voor en Corolla.

M.a.w. de initiële diagnose is volgens garage 2 niet juist geweest waardoor we nu met onverwacht hoge kosten zitten opgescheept. Kan ik garage 1 hier op aanspreken zonder in een vervelende: Ja maar garage x weet niet waar ze het over heeft" discussie te belanden?

Who also loves to recreate their RC car in BeamNG to play around with? I finally managed (found the parts) to recreate my custom 6x6 Tamiya High Lift F350 with steering rear axle and box upfit. A project I abandoned when I became a dad 12 years ago. Really feel the urge to finalize the box upfit or make an RV out of it.

I restored my old PowerMac G3 and upgraded it. Now I am looking for a place to sell and a realistic asking price.

Style writer 2 with as new accessory kit. Printer starts, sounds good, does it's routine. Not tested yet Edit: tested, works. Cartridge dryed out.

Original G3 macOS 8.6 dutch installation disk.

I also have a Lacie 8.5gb scsi external HDD in excellent state. No discoloration, no weird noises. Might even want to keep it for Pavlov's sake.

Would love to hear if there is a market for a system like this.
