Oysters as bait?

Oysters as bait?

Went to check out a mark I want to fish today at low water, lots of oysters. Anyone used oysters as bait? Looking for bass, with the amount of shellfish there I’m also thinking there’s a chance of giltheads

Neighbour constantly encroaching on vulnerable elderly relative’s property

This is a post to get ideas how to help my elderly mother manage a tricky situation.

Her neighbour is harassing her, and the form that this harassment takes is interfering with her property and its boundaries, for example, leaving bins in her garden, removing potted plants from her border which adjoins the neighbours garden, claiming that a plant my mother planted many years ago is actually hers and in her garden, and claiming that she has no title to part of her garden.

My mother has instructed her property insurers, who are slow to process claims, so in the meantime she has also instructed a solicitor to send a letter requesting that the neighbour respect the property boundaries and stop trespassing.

There is good evidence of where the historical boundary has always been, both in the title, corroborated by photos on Google earth going back to around 2008.

However, it seems that the neighbour has now instructed a fencing contractor to build a fence where she claims the boundary is. Work has not started yet.

The solicitor my mother has instructed has advised that it isn’t worth fighting over a small piece of land; however, this does not take account of the fact that if the neighbour is allowed to build the fence on my mother’s property, this will not be the end of the story, and the neighbour will keep chipping away. For example, the neighbour also disputes the boundaries to the rear of the property and claims a right of way.

The lawyers seem to have a blinkered view and only see the property law issues, whereas she needs someone to help manage and resolve the situation, and the property law angle is only a part of that.

My mother is a vulnerable elderly person with health issues, she is very stressed by the whole situation, and her nearest relatives are several hundred miles away. This is an English law question.

Any advice? Many thanks 🙏🏼

Any reason why this is a bad idea?

I fish some very rough ground with a lot of junk in the water, any reason why this is a bad idea? Single hook attached to the top end of a wedge, 15lb hook link, which is weaker than leader (25lb) and main line (30lb). It seems to work from the point of view of not losing so many lures

This is about 25mm long. It appears to be composed of something like flint, and was found in gravel in a yard in south Devon, ie gravel from elsewhere, flint is not found found around here as far as I know. Looks very much like a tooth, is it?

I have two small parts, a brass collar and an aluminium spindle, fused together due to galvanic corrosion. Could I unfuse them electrolytically, by putting them in an electrolyte and putting a small voltage across them? If that is potentially worth a try, how would I start to figure out which side should be positive and negative respectively? I don’t want to dissolve either part, but the aluminium spindle is less replaceable than the brass collar

I have this vintage Allcock Ariel style reel, no branding or marking, does anyone know anything about it? Wondering if it was made by Allcock under contract, or by someone else. Many thanks!
