Booking the KTM Adv 350cc or should I avoid? Based on the oil consumption issues people are facing and the E30 Shit

How does it compare to the Scrambler 400x? Will it be more reliable in the long term?

Confused between the KTM 350cc Adventure and the Scrambler 400X and want opinions from actual owners.

I test rode both and surprisingly the KTM felt very natural to me immediately, almost like I’ve been riding it for a long time. The lighter dynamic feel, suspension travel and overall confidence really stood out to me.

At the same time, the Scrambler felt more mature, comfortable and refined. The seat comfort, softer suspension and low-end torque felt great for daily use and relaxed riding.

My usage:

Pune city riding (not daily commute)

Frequent highway rides (~350 km round trip twice a month)

Weekend rides/touring

Maybe occasional rough roads/light off-road, I want to explore off roading or trail riding

I’m 5’4” and around 65 kg, so manageability matters to me. The Scrambler feels manageable, but the KTM feels even lighter and more confidence inspiring dynamically.

My main confusion is:

Will I eventually appreciate the calm/mature nature of the Scrambler more? OR

Will I regret not buying the more capable and exciting KTM later?

Do you ever feel the Scrambler lacks that “special” or adventure-ready feeling compared to the KTM ADV platform? Or does the comfort/refinement make up for it long-term?

Would really appreciate honest owner feedback after living with the bike for some time.

How many of you guys are facing the Oil consumption issues? Read full post

I'm planning to buy the KTM Adv 350cc but I'm scared of the engine oil consumption issues, I am seeing a lot of posts regarding the issues.

My brother is recommending me to buy the Himalayan and not the KTM as it will be reliable in the long term what should I do?

Need help deciding between KTM 390 Adventure and Himalayan 450. Price difference is around ₹60k for me after BH registration/deals.

My usage:

- Pune city riding

- Frequent Pune–Nashik highway travel (~350 km round trip twice a month)

- Weekend highway rides/touring

- Maybe occasional long rides like Hampi etc.

- Currently coming from a 125cc bike which caused back pain and fatigue on highways

My height/weight:

- 5’4”

- Around 65 kg

Height itself is not really the issue on either bike, but the weight and top-heavy feel of the Himalayan is noticeable for me. On the other hand, the KTM feels much lighter dynamically and gives me confidence that I can even try mild off-roading/exploring if my bike allows me to.

Things confusing me:

Himalayan 450

Pros:

- More comfortable overall

- Slightly better mileage (~10% better from what I’ve seen)

- Better resale value?

- Feels calmer and easier to live with

- RE service/resale network

- Engine feels relaxed and less stressed

Cons:

- Feels heavy and less lively

- Not as exciting or agile

- Slightly bulky in city traffic

- Weight/top-heavy feel is noticeable for my build

KTM 390 Adventure

Pros:

- Feels much lighter and more fun

- Effortless overtakes/highway performance

- More exciting and engaging

- Better electronics/features

- Feels easier dynamically despite similar weight on paper

- Makes me feel more confident trying rough roads/off-road trails

Cons:

- Lower mileage

- Slightly higher running costs

- KTM reliability/service image concerns

- Resale maybe weaker compared to RE

- Reading mixed reports about vibration and oil consumption issues in some 390s (not sure how common this actually is)

It's a big purchase for me I will be streching my budget while buying the Himalayan so I'm really confused

People who have owned/ridden both:

- Which one did you finally choose and why?

- Any long-term ownership regrets?

- How tiring is the 390 on long rides actually?

- Does the Himalayan eventually feel boring?

- How common are oil consumption issues on newer 390s?

- How bad are KTM maintenance/running costs in reality?

Would really appreciate honest owner feedback rather than spec-sheet comparisons..

I’m financially able to afford both, but this is still a big purchase for me and I keep overthinking whether I’ll regret choosing comfort/practicality over excitement or vice versa.

KTM Adv 350 vs Himalayan 450. Heart vs Brain decision

I had finalized the KTM Adv 350, but my brother is saying that the Himalayan 450 is a better choice and it's worth the extra money

I'm getting the 350 Adv for Around 2.9L and the Himalayan for around 3.5L which is 60k difference

So I test rode the Himalayan 450, the bike didn't feel that tall, It felt lower, and the Engine has constant ticking noise, and felt rough, the bike was not in a good condition, And also the weight felt manageable, it only felt heavy while doing a U turn otherwise it didn't feel heavy at all, the Suspension was good also, the undulations were not at all noticable

I'm 5 feet 4 and weigh 65kg, my default choice was the Xpulse first, really enjoyed the test ride , the suspension were really great and the bike was light and the power delivery was also good but the issues related to the Xpulse are all over the place, so don't want to spend 2 lakhs on a unreliable bike which will need constant service centre visits,

So after that the only option was the Adv 250 which I finalized after riding the bike of a fellow redditor friend as there were no test ride bikes available, the power delivery was good, there were vibrations at around 5k RPM but it was manageable and it also gave 30-35kmpl mileage.

But then the 350 cc Adv was launched at just 45k extra which made the 250 Adv irrelevant so it was the next choice which I finalized,

but then my brother enters the conversation he said that get the Himalayan, it's a good bike and don't get a KTM as they are not reliable and all. He said just try the Himalayan if you are able to manage, then get the Himalayan I test rode it yesterday, it's a great bike but It didn't feel very exciting as the KTM or the Scrambler 400x or I even enjoyed the Xpulse more than this but I think I will have to try the Himalayan again once in other dealer as the dealer I went to had a very poorly maintained bike

What should I do my heart is saying KTM but my brain is saying Himalayan don't know why but the Himalayan will be better in long term is what my brother feels and now me also please tell me what should I do?

Went to test ride the Himalayan as a 5'4" short rider but it was a weird experience

Went to test ride the Himalayan today and things started a bit weird, I sat on the bike and it felt lower than the Scrambler 400x and the KTM Adv and the Xpulse 210, I was like umm this is not a very tall bike I can manage it I tried it and the weight didn't feel that much also, it was manageable while pushing back and front but then when trying to U turn the weight was noticable, and not anywhere else,

but the bike was not really smooth it had a constant ticking noise from engine and it didn't feel as smooth as everyone says, and the seat height was feeling low and not the standard 825mm as I have tried other bikes so asked the dealership guys they said this bike can be having some changes in the suspension or something or it's been lowered they didn't know so I was really confused, I think I will have to visit another dealership to test ride the bike as this one felt weird.

Anyone with 5.4 - 5.5 height using the Himalayan? Is the seat height and weight manageable ?Please share your experience. Confused between KTM Adv and the Himalayan

KTM Adv 350cc vs Himalayan 450 which is a better bike? My brother is against buying a KTM should I spend 50-60K extra on the Himalayan?

My big brother is saying not to go with KTM as Himalayan is a better bike he is mostly thinking about the reliability part I think, what do you guys think? I'm a short guy with 5 feet 4 height and skinny, so the KTM makes more sense to as it's lighter and more agile and easier to manage in city and has better electronics like cruise control, quick shifter , better headlight and it's also cheaper to maintain as what I have heard that Himalayan parts are costlier.

The KTM Adv 350 is costing me around 2.9L with BH series registration and Amazon discount.

And the Himalayan with BH series registration and Acko insurance with Tubeless tyres will cost around 3.5L what should I do? The difference is around 60k , The Himalayan will be cheaper in the long term? As it will have better value at the time of selling compared to KTM?

My brother said that Royal Enfield is like Suzuki of motorcycles whatever people say they are good reliable bikes and you will get a good bike for 10 years. That got me thinking.

I am going to buy this bike to travel as I don't have daily commute and also home visits combined around 1000km per month regularly with extra rides I want a comfortable bike which does Good in bad roads without breaking my back

Doing BH Registration of KTM Bike dealer saying address on the Form 60 should match my address on the Rent agreement which can't happen as the form 60 is a proof of employment, which comes with my permanent address only and is not related to my address whatsoever.

I feel like The dealerships are making up these rules up as they don't want people to do BH registration.

Should I tell them proceed with this document and we'll see if something happens, anyone has done BH series registration in Pune? Have you faced this issue?
