Scary pune nights

Scary pune nights

Right before I clicked this pic -

I was minding my own business and riding chup chap on the far left corners of the road because I don't play around with traffic rules, cuz I have had a major road accident years back. And while doing so, god knows what F5 race was on between not so equal machineries of Eicher and Maruti Suzuki, the can and the truck flew past me with not less than speed of light and as close as 3cms from me. I immediately stopped at this point on the road and parked my bike in haste and just got off the bike coz my heart was racing.

Riding a bike in Pune late at night was the most pleasurable experience a few years back. But now, it's SCARY. With big trucks having no control on speed and cabs with no respect to red, yellow, green lights - it has become a nightmare to ride at those hours in Pune.

Does anyone here have the same experience as me?

Savlya Ghat Group Ride

Hi All,

Yesterday early morning, we went to Savlya Ghat (which is on the route to Tamhini Ghat).

We started at 5 AM from our respective places and met at Dilkhush Vadapav at 6:30 AM. From there, we started our ride together to Savlya Ghat.

Though a Red Alert was issued and we were skeptical about whether we'd be able to reach our destination, it was just drizzling on the way. Because it didn't rain heavily initially, we made it to Savlya Ghat smoothly.

It was my first time riding my scooter in the rain, but it went quite well! It was an awesome and memorable experience with the pleasant views of Tamhini Ghat and the constant rain.

We reached at 7:30 AM. Initially, we decided not to do the trail, but the sound of the waterfall echoing through the fog gave us the motivation to go for it. We did the trail, it was quite easy, not very difficult, and we made it to the viewpoint.

OMG, it was so awesome! Amazing views of the ghats and waterfalls, and we could even see Tamhini Lake from the top.

We took our time to grasp that beautiful view, and then came back and had snacks at a parking stall.

By 12 PM, it started raining heavily. We waited for a bit and then left for home.

On this ride, most of us got completely wet. Our shoes literally became swimming pools for our feet, but it was all totally worth it!

Awesome ride and an amazing time yesterday. 😅

Attached are some of the pictures.

I'm new yet I've done 2 pune to mum rides in summer and winter I'm actually scared if I can complete the stretch. Also if anybody is travelling the same route would love to join as a fellow ridemate.

Kumbhe waterfall

Two days of weekend means two rides 😁

After a lot of back & forth, went with my wingman to Kumbhe waterfalls.

Update: Someone in my group said that they closed Kumbhe waterfall. Not sure if they mean the actual waterfall area or the view points too. So check once before going.

So it turns out:

  1. Kumbhe waterfall road is 90% done. No more gravel traps. There is one part where small cars may see ground clearance issues. For bikes it is okay

  2. They charge 30rs toll now per bike for the kumbhe waterfall area.

  3. The view point was way too foggy to see the waterfall.

  4. For the first time, I saw flooding in middle of Tamhini. It was almost upto Avenger's exhaust. Today it rained heavier than yesterday

Mulshi lake circuit

An impromptu solo ride plan turned duo ride. The idea was to ditch the plain old Tamhini run and to maximise the ride time in the Tamhini-Lonavala region to get the most of the ongoing rains.

It did not disappoint. We saw it all. Heavy rains, fog, waterfalls, lush greenery all around. The loop is definitely for those who like to push their bikes on crooked roads and don’t mind the bumps along the way. If you are just in it for the scenery, then avoid the whole loop, instead stick to the Andharban -Kailasgad area, or just continue to the road of Kundalika valley towards Ambey valley/lonavala.

It was a lot of fun bouncing the Avenger through the various roads. We got the peak monsoon experience on day one. Will definitely return for more.

Tamhini Ghat in Peak Monsoon – Thrilling, Beautiful & Dangerous! 🌧️🏍️🌫️

Today's ride to Tamhini Ghat was something I'll never forget.
Started from Hinjewadi around 8 AM, and it turned into one of the best monsoon rides I've ever experienced. Heavy rainfall, massive waterfalls, dense fog, lush green mountains... it honestly felt like riding through the clouds.
The waterfall we had been waiting to see was in full flow, and every kilometer was postcard-worthy. But with all this beauty comes serious risk.
Unfortunately, we witnessed two major accidents today:
🚗 A car skidded off the road and went down into the valley. Thankfully, people nearby helped rescue the occupants in time, and they were safe.
🏍️ A Royal Enfield GT650 met with a severe crash. The bike suffered extensive damage:
Front wheel rim completely broken
Engine oil leak
Exhaust flattened after hitting a huge roadside rock
Heavy impact damage overall
The riders were in complete shock, but thankfully their helmets saved them from serious injuries. Bikes can be repaired or replaced—lives cannot.
If you're planning a ride to Tamhini this monsoon, please keep these points in mind:
✅ Ride in a group whenever possible.
✅ If you wear spectacles, take extra precautions—visibility becomes extremely poor because of rain, fog, and helmet visor misting.
✅ Carry a basic first-aid kit.
✅ Keep cash with you. Many places lose network connectivity, making UPI unreliable.
✅ Don't rely on mobile phones—there is little to no network inside the forest, so help may not arrive quickly if something goes wrong.
Fog lights or auxiliary lights are highly recommended. There are stretches with almost zero visibility, and they genuinely make a difference.
✅ Ride slowly on the curvy downhill sections. Wet roads significantly increase braking distance. Never assume you'll stop as quickly as on dry roads.
✅ Wear proper riding gear and, most importantly, never compromise on your helmet.
My suggestion:
If you're riding from Pune, start from Hinjewadi before 8:00 AM. You'll avoid most of the tourist traffic, enjoy empty roads, and get the best views before the crowds arrive.
Monsoon in Tamhini is absolutely magical, but nature demands respect. Ride within your limits, look out for each other, and make sure everyone reaches home safely.
Ride safe, enjoy the waterfalls, and come back with memories—not regrets. ❤️🏍️🌧️

Need to get exhausts changed

I have a RE SG650 which I’ve been riding the past 6 months now. I really want to get the exhausts changed to something like AEWs or Red Roosters but I have no idea which shop in Pune to go to to get authentic ones, neither do I have any idea what mechanics are trustworthy to install them. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Our ages are 19 and 20. We live in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. The criteria is bikes above 250cc. Dm or Texr here.

As im already posting this late but still lets 6:00AM-6:30AM meet up. And plan on somewhere to ride.

Alternate Route to Lavasa?

Has anyone tried this alternate route to Lavasa instead of the usual Temghar road?

This follows Nilkantheshwar road and joins Panshet Lavasa road

https://maps.app.goo.gl/VcX4zwQbVJbCLCSTA?g_st=ic

Want to know how will be the riding conditions…. Temghar I am pretty sure would be worse in monsoon as I have been there in summers and even then it was pretty bad.

PS: Not taking direct Panshet rd from Khadakwasla cuz recent reports say the bridge over Mutha river after Panshet is closed

🏞️Looking for More trekking buddies this weekend! (Riders & non-riders welcome)

Hi everyone 👋,

I’m planning a trekking trip for this weekend with a few members of my AMC riding community. We’re looking to get some fresh air and hit the trails!

We’re a friendly group, and while we usually ride together, you absolutely do not need a bike to join—non-riders are more than welcome to come along for the hike.

If you’re looking for something active to do this weekend and want to meet some new people, drop a comment and send me a DM.

Let me know

if you’re interested!

P.S :- Also looking for some experienced & no nonsense types of trekkers who can help with planning of next treks and lead.

Need service center advice for my KTM Duke 390 R

Hry folks, I recently purchased duke 390 R and want to know the good service centers in Pune for 1st servicing which allow for you to bring your oil or have Motul's Engine oil. I have heard many stories of KTM service ceter teying to push their inferior prolube engine oil when asked. I don't want to get in an argument how KTM allows for people to bring their own engine oils as long as it is 10W50 and JASO 2 certified. Also, what all things I should expect to change other than engine oil? What about additives, do they push on you as well? Also, I have been used to servicing my apache rtr 200 at a good local shop instead of TVS service, because it is shit and time consuming, but I've heard good things about KTM. What kind of service experience should I expect from the first service. Also what else should I expect/look out for during the first service? Also, last thing, has anyone used motorex or some non motul engine oil? Is it better than motul? Is it worth the premium? Anyway, thanks.
