Solo technical founder with a live app, weak at marketing. When is the right time to bring on a cofounder?

I'm a solo founder in India (recent CS grad) building CRUIZR, a motorcycle community app for Indian riders. It has live GPS group ride tracking, free intercom, crash alerts, riding clubs and offline maps.

Where I am right now:

  • The app is built (React Native + Spring Boot) and is in open testing on the Play Store
  • I'm working on it full-time, with no funding and no revenue yet
  • Early testers have given me mixed engagement, and some have been very active
  • I'm now moving from building to marketing: club partnerships, QR stickers and pamphlets in Delhi NCR, and Reddit and Instagram outreach

My problem: I'm a strong developer, but I have zero marketing or growth experience, and that is now the main thing holding the product back.

A friend has offered to join as cofounder for a 50/50 split. I'm not actively searching for a cofounder, and I'm unsure whether to bring someone on now or wait.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this, especially what you'd do differently.

Can you rate my startup? Built a group-ride app for Indian motorcyclists (Cruizr.in)

Been riding for a while and got tired of the usual chaos on group rides — phones dying, WhatsApp location sharing lagging, half the group losing signal (and intercom) on a ghat with no backup. So I built CRUIZR — live GPS convoy tracking, built-in voice intercom with no separate hardware needed, offline maps for when signal drops, ride roles (lead/tail sweeper), and riding club management. There's also a women-only ride option and a glove-mode UI built for actual on-bike use, not just a phone screen at a desk.

Still in closed testing, not open on the Play Store yet. Would genuinely appreciate this sub tearing it apart — site's at cruizr.in, has the full feature breakdown and you can join the waitlist for early access if it looks interesting.

Brutal feedback welcome. What's missing, what's pointless, what would actually make you use this over just WhatsApp + a Bluetooth headset?

16GB RAM, 98% used, and I have questions

Bro. BRO. 98% memory usage and my Task Manager looks like a graveyard of half-dead processes.

Running Antigravity IDE (15 processes), 3-4 separate OpenJDK instances eating 5.5GB combined, and Node.js somehow spawned into 11 processes. I didn't open a data center, I opened IDE.

CPU's chilling at 26% like "not my problem" while RAM just... gave up.

Started as "let me just quickly test something" and ended with my laptop wheezing like it ran a marathon in ski boots.

16GB DDR5 felt like plenty until reality happened. Anyone else's dev setup secretly a small server farm, or is it just me?

(RAM upgrade or radical self-restraint — pick one 💀)

Looking for design ideas for my motorcycle app's home screen

Hey everyone, I'm building CRUIZR — a motorcycle riding community app for Indian riders (group ride tracking, riding clubs, offline maps, mesh intercom). Here's my current home screen.

I feel like it's functional but not great to look at, and I'd love some outside perspective before I lock in the design. Open to any ideas — layout, colors, how you'd handle the map, the floating buttons, the empty "upcoming rides" section, anything.

What would you change if this were your app?

Built a motorcycle riding app for Indian riders — need testers before Play Store launch (pan-India)

Hey riders,

I'm building CRUIZR, an app made specifically for Indian motorcycle riders — live GPS group ride tracking, push-to-talk intercom for convoys, riding clubs, offline maps for those no-network highway stretches, and more.

I'm in closed testing right now and need real riders to actually try it out on rides — not just install and forget. If you regularly ride solo or in a group and want early access (free, all features unlocked right now), drop a comment or DM me.

Takes 5 minutes to join the test, and your feedback directly shapes what gets built next. Would mean a lot to get this into the hands of actual riders before launch.

Riders who use Sena/Cardo intercoms — how do you handle it when not everyone in the group can afford one?

Been looking into getting a group intercom setup for rides, but the cost adds up fast if everyone needs their own unit — especially for bigger groups or people who ride occasionally and can't justify ₹15-20k on a headset.

Curious how other groups deal with this:

Does it work okay if only some people have intercoms, or does the group basically split into "connected" and "not connected" riders?

Anyone found a cheaper way to stay in touch that still works decently well?

For newer riders just starting to ride in groups, is it even worth investing early, or better to wait?

I've actually been building an app (CRUIZR) to tackle exactly this — a mesh-based intercom that works over phone-to-phone connection instead of needing everyone to buy expensive dedicated hardware, so a group can stay connected even if only some people have proper headsets. Still figuring out the right approach though, which is why I wanted to hear how people currently manage this gap in real groups before assuming what actually helps.

Not trying to push it here, just genuinely trying to solve this well — so any real experiences are super useful.

Riders who do Ladakh/Spiti trips — what's your biggest communication problem when signal drops? Building something to fix it, want to understand the pain points better.

Genuine question, not selling anything.

I've been on group rides where we hit stretches of zero network for 30-40 km. The usual problems:

  • Someone takes a wrong turn and there's no way to tell them
  • A rider stops for fuel/breakdown and the group doesn't realize for 20 minutes
  • "Everyone stay together" works for the first 10 km, then the group naturally splits

What does your group actually do in these situations? Some things I've heard from other riders:

  1. Just hope for the best and regroup at the next dhaba
  2. Walkie-talkies (the ₹5,000 Baofeng type) — do these actually work well on rides?
  3. Sena/Cardo intercoms — but not everyone in the group has one, and they're expensive
  4. Pre-decided checkpoints before the ride starts

Curious what's worked, what hasn't, and what you wish existed. Planning a Spiti trip soon and trying to figure this out for my own group.

Would you pay ₹99/month for offline group-ride comms + SOS on no-signal routes + intercom with no network and many more ?

Hey riders,

I'm building CRUIZR, an app for group rides — solo dev, currently in closed testing. Trying to figure out if my pricing actually makes sense before I go wider, so wanted honest opinions from people who actually ride in low/no-signal areas.

Here's what the paid tier (₹99/month) includes:

Unlimited offline mesh walkie-talkie — talk to your group with zero mobile data, works device-to-device even with no signal

Automated off-grid SOS — if you crash or go quiet, it alerts your group even without network

Rider-left-behind detection — if someone in the group stops moving for a few minutes, the group gets alerted automatically

Full offline map downloads for planning multi-day trips (Ladakh, Spiti, etc.)

Ride host can unlock mesh intercom for the whole group

There's also a free tier and a ₹29 single-ride pass for one-off use.

Genuinely asking:

Would ₹99/month feel worth it to you, or too much for an app subscription?

Would you rather pay per-ride (₹29) than commit monthly?

Is there a feature here you'd pay for individually but not the rest?

What would make this an easy yes for you?

Not trying to sell anything here, just want real feedback before I lock in pricing. Brutal honesty welcome.

Building a community app for Indian riders — looking for beta testers

Hey riders,

I'm building CRUIZR — an app made specifically for the Indian riding community. Live GPS tracking for group rides, push-to-talk intercom so you can actually talk to your crew mid-ride, offline maps for the routes where signal disappears, riding clubs, and women-only ride options.

I'm a solo dev/founder working on this full-time, and I'm looking for a small group of close testers before the public launch — real riders who can break things, tell me what's missing, and help shape it before it goes live.
