I wish that there was no genetic way to determine a child's parents because babies are born with a random set of human traits

Meaning things like blood type, eye color, hair color, height, race, skin color, illnesses that are genetic are all random in every child birthed. Every human trait is taken from a genetic pool that includes all potential permutations and therefore its impossible to trace anyone's genetic lineage.

What's the deal with FIFA guy Gianni Infantino trying to sell the league?

I've heard he's trying to sell off FIFA or something like that that he's trying to get support. Now he's promising Morocco a World Cup final if they support him. I read the article, but it just says he's trying to sell off the World Cup. I don't get how that's possible. As far as I know, he's just the guy currently leading FIFA, its not like FIFA is his personal property to sell. He's like a sports commissioner, isn't he? He's only serving on the behest of the real owners of the teams the countries. How does he have any power to sell anything without their say so?

You can travel at the speed of light for 1 second

Due to an accident involving a printer, you are able to travel at the speed of light. The catch is that you can only do this for 1 second. However, you can break up the second into as many segments as you want. You can choose to use up a fraction of a second to run to the local store in your neighborhood and then back home, or use it to go across the country to attend a wedding and then come back the second its over.

The distance light travels in 1 second is approximately 186282 miles, which is about 7.4 times around the Earth, so there's a lot of ground you can cover. Here are the rules:

  • You won't create any sonic booms or leave a destructive wake in your path. You can move at this speed without damaging yourself or anything around you.

  • Anything you can physically carry, you can bring with you. As you move, the items become basically weightless (yes, the opposite of actual physics), so there's no additional strain if you want to bring a feather on your trip vs. a 20 pound sack of potatoes. However, you must be able to carry it to begin with, no picking up a car and taking it with you.

  • Most items that you choose to bring cannot be used normally at this speed. If you bring your phone, it won't be able to take pictures, display anything on the screen, or play music. You can use a pen though, and choose to write with it, that's no problem.

  • You must consciously activate this power. It doesn't work when you're asleep. If you're under the effect of drugs, you won't accidentally use it up.

  • When activated, your reflexes and perception increase proportionately. Let's say you use this to read all the books in a library. It'll still feel like 1 second has passed, but you will have gained the knowledge of all of the books you read as if you read it at normal speed.

  • Its a magical printer, there will not be any distortion of your sight due to moving at the same speed as light rays.

  • You're too fast for anything to detect you. Even if you move back and forth in front of a camera, it won't see you in the lens. You're also too fast to be harmed by anything. You can run through fire or touch lava and it won't burn you after you slow down. If you decide to run through physical objects, they will break but you won't. However, you can use this power to destroy things as a flick from your finger can equal to your finger hitting an object at light speed. But you can precisely control this to exert however much force you're capable of. For example, you can choose to move something out of the way and they will simply be moved to the new location you put them with no damage, or you can grab and throw something and the object will fly at whatever speed you want up to the speed of light.

  • You're too fast for gravity to affect you. Run up a wall, run upside down on a ceiling, run across water, use birds as steps, anything you can physically interact with can be an object to push off from. However, you cannot do this with air. So if you're at normal speed and find yourself falling off a cliff, you can't activate your powers and stop in mid-air, you'll still fall. However, you can active it the instant you touch the ground and use it to re-orient yourself so that you're not falling.

  • You can jump and you have precise control over how much force to exert. If you choose to jump over a building, you won't go shooting off past the atmosphere into space, you'll exert just enough force to clear the building and land safely on the other side. If you want to platform jump from island to island across the ocean, you can do that (provided you know where these islands are). You can also choose to jump so high into the air that there's nothing physical for you to use to bounce back down to Earth though, so you'll end up adrift in space and die.

  • You will always know exactly how much time and distance you have left of this power. You won't be stranded on the other side of the world not knowing your 1 sec is used up, you'll know exactly how much time you'll use up before you make that trip.

I think that covers almost everything. So how would you use this power? Would you just travel? Would you use it to nudge objects in sports to affect the outcome so you can win by gambling, or just outright steal money instead? Would you kill people you don't like by throwing a pebble into their brains at super sonic speeds? Or cause random chaos for the hell of it? How much of this power would you save, or would you be too eager and use it up quickly seeing the rest of the world?

If I secretly edited a network TV show and replaced the male nipples with female nipples, would that get in trouble with the FCC?

Example, a show like Baywatch where there's a lot of shirtless guys. I edit some of the male nipples out, and replace them with female nipples so that it looks perfectly normal. Nobody notices. Then later after the episode airs I reveal what I did.

Would they ban that episode? Ignore it? Something else? Would they allow it to be shown on network TV again with no changes?

Small edit because people are getting caught up in the details: I'm mostly interested in what the FCC would do. Assume I own the network and the show, and the contract with the actors allows for the show (me) to digitally alter them for TV. I'm not going to be fired and there's not going to be a network investigation, everything I did is something I'm allowed to do with my own show. Think of it through 2 possible scenarios:

First scenario: I brag about this to my friends at the FCC, but its not generally known to the public.

Second scenario: I talk about it in public and the information goes viral, the public knows, a few of them complain.

Airports/airlines should allow joking about bombings and hijackings

Full context: A recent flight out of Newark was returned back to the airport after flight attendants noticed that someone's wifi name was "Bomb". After repeated instructions to turn off all bluetooth devices, the "Bomb" wifi remained on the active list. The captain decided to return the plane back to the airport where the person owning the device, a 16 year old, was arrested. However, according to the reports, "Bomb" was the default wifi name on a brand of speakers and it could be that the 16 year old never realized that was the name, forgot it was the name, or didn't even know about the wifi in the first place.

Whatever reasons people have to justify this does not outweigh my contention that airlines should just ignore things like this.

I get the cover-your-ass nature of situations similar to this one. If someone shouts "Bomb" in an airport but laughs, its easier and safer to just arrest him than to have officers try to discern whether or not he was joking. And yes, people joking about it is stupid and annoying, but I don't think it should rise to the level of arrest and criminal record. And personally I think cover-your-ass policies are lazy and give corporations an excuse to not train people, not hire professionals, or simply deflect blame.

I think the cost in time and money is too valuable to have planes in the air be turned around for something like this. If they wanted to arrest him, let the entire airplane full of people get to their destination first and then arrest the person at that location. Don't fuck up everyone else's itineraries by turning the plane around, having federal agents sweep the plane for bombs, and then have to replane them or alter people's flights.

And yeah, of course if there was an actual bomb, it would be bad, but I believe in taking some chances in life. This stuff is rare and none of us believe that stupid policies like this are actually reducing attacks or stopping actual terrorists anyway. You could google years of incidents where the TSA missed weapons, or someone accidentally brought something onboard that's banned, or inconsistent enforcement lead to some people having to throw away a bottle of perfume because its over 3oz but someone else got to keep their giant thermos full of liquid. 99% would agree that the TSA is merely security theater, but I'd wager a lot of that 99% would be loathed to allow the kind of bomb and hijacking jokes I'm advocating here because you don't want to seem like you're pro-terrorism.

Humans naturally default to remembering and worrying about the worst case scenarios. That may be our nature but it doesn't have to affect our actions when we recognize it. We would be equally as safe if airlines or the feds or whoever is making these rules eliminate them and allow bomb jokes, hijacking comments, or terrorism talk in airports and on airplanes. Actual security should focus on things that are actually dangerous. A joke wifi name, as annoying as it is, is not inherently dangerous. Nor is someone getting frustrated at staff and saying they wish the plane would blow up. These things should be treated as the jokes or unserious expressions of frustration as they are instead of federal crimes.
