Pregnancy leave / disability payments

Hello all! I work for Kaiser and also a member/patient. I will go on maternity leave soon and will have to apply for disability. How long does it take to get paid? I have not deal with ROI as a patient and I'm really nervous about all of this. Thank you in advance!

Any tips when you can't afford child's request?

Hello fellow parents! We are located in California. We have lived here for 13 years. These past few years with everything getting expensive, I feel that we can't have a financial breakthrough. Both hubby and I are working. We have a 5 yr old. She's at the stage where she sees what other kids have and ask us if she can have it. Money is really tight. We have a home and food. We have basic stuff. My child is never hungry. It's just that, fun money is limited. I don't want us to be in more debt. We have a small debt from me going to school and were still paying that off.

Any tips on what I can tell my daughter for her to be grounded/content? Any coping mechanisms when I feel guilty that we can't give more? Thank you.

Employees that are pregnant/going on maternity leave

Hello! Anyone here who's pregnant and/or going on maternity leave soon? I am so confused on benefits.

First question, will my job be protected if I leave on pregnancy disability leave?

Second question, I want to do FMLA after my pregnancy disability to use for baby bonding, but some people are saying that I need FMLA the first day I go on leave.

Lastly, will I still have my insurance while I am on leave?

Thank you!

Ultrasound rant - long post

Hello all! I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby. I also have a 5 yr old.

I had my anatomy scan 2 weeks ago. I was excited because this is my favorite appointment when I was pregnant with my first baby.

I got to the clinic and the sonographer brought me in early. She said she needed more time as she is not as fast as the younger girl. She told me she has been working as a sono for 40 years. I was confident with her experience and was excited.

Sadly, she got irritated alot during the appointment verbalizing that she chose poorly, that my baby is not a "good patient"The whole appt became dragging. She kept on saying "were getting on the fun part" - fun part never happened. There are alot of things that she was having a hard time capturing. She also told me baby is measuring 2 weeks behind- it trigggered me as I had IUGR with my 1st baby.

I did not complain to management. Following week, OBGYN called me and said baby is doing ok and that baby is measuring 2 days behind. I mentioned my experience but in a light giggly way. I work for the same company and I dont like throwing people under the bus. OBGYN said they will repeat ultrasound in 28 weeks.

This week, radiology called me for repeat ultrasound, they said nothing is wrong they just need to capture some pictures.
I requested a different tech. I mentioned to the front desk my experience in a nice way. She started capturing the heart. I just asked "is baby okay?" I am not expecting a result, I know they can't snd should not be discussing results. I just want to ask that baby hearbeat is okay that's all I mean.. the new tech then said " if you do not stop talking, you'll hate me more than the first one." I froze :(

I am not a mean patient. I don't yell at people. I always say please. I admit that I am anxious but because this is my rainbow baby. Am I in the wrong for speaking up?
