Attn Mazda Mechanics
So my 2022 cx30 2.5L non turbo with 63,000km on it would not start for me on Sunday. I was in the store for MAYBE 5 mins. When I came out to start the car, The brake pedal was stiff as a rock and as I pressed the start button only the acc came on with the lights on the dash. I dont think any icons came up at this point. I called my boyfriend he came and he tested the battery it was reading 12.4. He checked all the fuses and they all looked good. At this point we noticed the green key icon with the exclamation mark stating low key battery, so we went and changed the fob battery. Still nothing. We tried disconnecting the battery terminals and cleaning them.. still nothing,
At this point he pulled out the cables and tried jumping the car and still nothing... So we went and purchased a new car battery as most forums said to try that. ( even though the current battery is only about 5months old and is after market NOT OEM. ) Tried the new battery and nothing. At this point i noticed the battery icon, engine light and power steering light on my dash.
At this point we had the car Towed to Mazda. Monday morning at 7:45 am mazda calls (fantastic service time btw) and stated that the car started perfectly fine this morning. They assessed and looked at the battery, starter cables, altinator and serpentine? Belt. Also the lights on my dash are all gone. They did change my carbon air filters and engine air filters and didnt charge me for the diagnostics.
My theory is that maybe there's a loose wire somewhere and the tow truck shook it back into position. (thats my uneducated guess lol) Has anyone had any issues like this where changing the battery was not the solution? I'm happy the car is running but im scared it will happen again and I will get stuck again.
EDIT* I want to add that we took the new battery out and returned it and put the old battery back in because it tested fine.
