New Haircut

Got my color job refreshed, and tried a shaggier cut that sort of dips a toe into bangs without actually committing to them. Maybe one of these days I'll go all the way into bangs, but I'm not sure my particular kind of curl pattern would go well with that.

On a side note, I've found myself wondering about FFS more. I find any kind of gender-affirming surgery really intimidating, but I'm also really self-conscious about my high hairline, prominent nose, and pronounced jawline. And the only thing I can really do about any of that is try a new haircut (like I just did) to hopefully flatter the hairline a little.

What's the most radical body modification that'll become available in the next 50 years?

In my last post I asked what we might reasonably expect by way of regenerative medicine in the next 10 years or so. Now, to have a bit more fun with this direction: how far do you think body modification could go in the next 50 years? I'm thinking biology specifically, not stuff like cybertech. How wild do think it could get? Changing the shape and color of hair that grows from your head, altering your height or skeleton shape, eliminating the need to ever work out, modifying primary and secondary sexual characteristics however one wants, etc.?

Obviously only time will tell, but every now and then it's fun to really swing for the fences with these "what ifs."

What regenerative medicine breakthroughs should we expect in the next ten years?

I'm hearing more and more about research for rejuvenating, regenerating, reshaping and customizing the human body—getting years back, growing or replacing organs and body parts, refining how the body functions, and so on. What do you think we'll achieve within the next ten years? I mean stuff that people can genuinely use in their real lives, not just a bit more data in the lab.

Feeling really dysphoric in these photos. Am I crazy?

I was out at a concert and had three photos snapped of me, and they just hit my brain in a really dysphoria-inducing way. I'm just curious about a second opinion—are these photos really unflattering and masculine? Am I seeing something that isn't there?

EDIT: turning the TV and soundbar off, unplugging all HDMIs, and then plugging the soundbar back in first seems to have done the trick for now. Hopefully this will stick.

I've got the JBL cinema SB595 soundbar hooked up to my LG OLED TV, and up until recently the ARC HDMI connection worked beautifully. The soundbar turned off and on with the TV, just as intended. Yesterday I noticed that not only has the soundbar stopped turning of and on with the TV, it's now going into standby after a while even when sound is playing through the TV. It's like the ARC connection simply isn't recognized anymore beyond broadcasting the sound. I've messed with the TV settings repeatedly and even reset them completely, with no luck.

The soundbar doesn't have Wi-Fi, so it's not a firmware issue. I'm wondering if a recent TV software update screwed something up. I just ordered a new HDMI cable to see if that makes a difference. It's driving me crazy to have to keep manually turning the soundbar back on every few minutes.

Anyone else have an experience like this? Any advice?
