I can't get this pan clean

About 30 minutes after cooking, I sprayed all the food bits off the pan with hot water. I scrubbed as hard as I could for a few minutes with hot soapy water. I rinsed it all off. I scrubbed as hard as I could for a few minutes with hot soapy water again. I rinsed it all off. I dried it thoroughly with a cloth towel. I squirted a few drops of canola oil onto a paper towel and rubbed it in. The paper towel looks like this.

After I dried it but before I rubbed the oil in, it had a slightly metallic or acidic odor? Also, yes, I recently ruined the seasoning by leaving tomato sauce in it for a few days. I've used it several times since then. I've been told here not to worry about that because the seasoning will come and go?

I feel like this isn't clean and I don't know how I could possibly make it cleaner. What's going on here?

I think I found a DVSM? Care tips?

I've been looking for a slime to try and keep it as a pet/science experiment. A tree fell down in the woods near my apartment recently so I've been checking it regularly, and yesterday found this! It's about 3-4 cm in diameter. I tried to gently scrape it off the tree with a spoon and transfer it onto a few damp paper towels. I placed a couple oats at various distances to it and put it all in a flat shallow tupperware, drilled some air holes in the lid and I'm spraying it daily to keep it and the paper towel moist.

So far it's been about 24 hours and it looks identical to the day before. I don't really know what to expect? How long would it take to start spreading tendrils? Is it likely I killed it and/or doomed it by removing it from the tree? If it does start to dry out and sporulate/...sclerotiate?, what can I do?

Rice just isn't worth it, right?

I've followed the directions very anally, well rinsed rice, 1:1 ratio, thoroughly checked the seal, the area under the bottom of the pot to ensure that nothing is in the way or stuck on. Every time I've tried to make rice I get "food burn," only to find that no pressure has built up and what's inside is probably about half-cooked. I've wasted about six cups of rice so far.

Pot in pot seems ABSOLUTELY not worth it, since I don't have a pot that would fit inside, so I'd have to buy one that does, and in the end I'm just giving myself more dishes to wash and not even saving myself any time.

I think I'm just gonna continue using the stovetop unless somebody has a brilliant idea I haven't seen yet.

EDIT: i think this post has run its course but in case anybody finds it in the future, I was able to get it to work! I finally had good results with: rinsed jasmine rice with a 1:1.25 water ratio, high pressure 3 minutes, NR 10 minutes.

(This was a slight lie: I forgot to release it until 20 minutes had elapsed so it was mushy and overcooked, but I THINK that if I had released it when I meant to, it would have been perfect)

Anyway, how's the future? Is Trump finally not a problem anymore? Are things better or worse than they were in 2026?

I wanna start!

I've been reading more and more about slime molds, and I think I'd like to try growing one! It seems like all I need is paper, an opaque container, a spray bottle, and some oats?

What I've been reading is that if I want to dip my toes in I could kind of just ask if a generous myxomycetologist on the internet would be willing to send me one? I'd be happy to pay postage.

Or would it be better to try and forage one from the wild? I just don't know exactly how I would isolate it from various bacteria/fungi/protista in the sample.

How to gay it up for pride?

So this is my first pride since I came out as queer, which I'm still feeling hecka uncertain and shy about. In general I don't have a very expressive style. But I'm going to a pride event on Sunday with a friend, and I'd like to do something cool and colorful and temporary with my beard! When I google about this I see references to colored waxes but I can't find any actual links to purchase something. I see something about chalk paint but it's on tiktok which I won't download. I've considered glitter, and I haven't outright rejected the idea but fuck I'm hesitant for all the obvious reasons. Aaaaand because I've been procrastinating I'm kind of limited to brick and mortar stores or maybe Amazon, I doubt a boutique store online would be able to get anything to me on time.

So I'm open to suggestions. Sidewalk chalk? Manic Panic? Heck, face paint applied to the beard? I think a total rainbow is unrealistic, but if I can apply it with enough precision to be able to choose, say, three colors, that would be cool.

Does an android app exist? Are you sure?

Googling simplifi android app, Google says it exists. Reddit certainly talks about it like it exists. Searching the play store for "simplifi" shows no app called "simplifi" or "quicken simplifi". Is "Quicken: Intelligent Money" the simplifi app?? It doesn't seem like it, since it's *not called simplifi*. But then one person apparently reviewed it thinking it's simplifi. This is one hell of a mystery.
