Moth?
Am considering Moth, but have 2 questions about it.
Does Moth even work as a female name?
Is it pretentious?
I am gonna get a second name for official stuff (like job applications and such).
Horizons in topdown games?
im developing a topdown game, as i feel thats the best way to handle the gameplay.
A little context, my game is gonna be a madmax and fallout inspired roguelike where you drive around the wasteland in a convoy/caravan to escape the burden you carry (your burden is gonna be what keeps you from staying in the wasteland forever). the gameplay is gonna be turnbased gridbased 2.5d combat, hence the topdown perspective.
However i would really like to add a horizon for the sake of cinematic shots, and giving an idea of your enviroment. Unfortunately due to the nature of the combat, i feel like its gonna be really important to be able to move the camera around, and this is where things start clashing.
As i see it, either i add a horizon but limit the gameplay area, expand the gameplay area but lose the ability to add a horizon, or do both but have to find a way for vehicles to scroll offscreen on the horizon side without it looking buttugly.
I was considering having the horizon disappear as soon as you enter combat, as thats the only time its a real issue, but i feel like there might be a better way. anybody have any ideas?
How to record large amounts of gameplay efficiently
Recently recorded some gameplay, and want to record some more. My plan is to just record gameplay with no commentary, then add commentary and animations and such afterwards. Unfortunately due to the format in which i want to make my video's, i need to record A LOT of footage.
What is the best way to record for the sake of editing? cuz editing through a 6 hour block of footage doesnt seem the best way to do it, but i cant think of anything else.
My shiver formed a stacc. What does this mean? Am not yet quite fluent in shonkian
Hello everyone,
Im cooking up my own little idea of an ARG mod. I saw The Broken Script and no-moon.jar and thought those were really interesting. Theyre likely gonna be big inspirations for my mod. However im struggling a little to work out the design philosophy.
I like the weirdness of these mods, but thats a little vague. I can have an elephant on a tricycle, that would be weird, however its not the same kind of weird. Its random and uninteresting.
I also like how it feels like stuff is happening without you being there to experience it, but at the same time i feel like its easy to overshoot in that and either have the player completely miss an event, or feel like connected events are disconnected because the player missed the thing that connected them.
So thats why im here. To ask you all: what makes mods like these good, or if you dont like them, what needs to be changed to make them good?
Edit: just wanted to add that wonderland is also great and probably gonna inspire in a way as well
