Looking for a book to become a better conversationalist and communicator

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a book that will genuinely improve my communication and conversation skills.

A bit about me: I'm starting a long-form podcast where I'll be interviewing interesting people from all kinds of backgrounds. My goal isn to become someone who can hold fascinating conversations.

I'm looking for a book that can help me:

  • Ask better questions.
  • Keep conversations flowing naturally.
  • Make people feel comfortable opening up.
  • Listen more deeply.
  • Explore ideas instead of just jumping from question to question.
  • Build on what the other person says instead of sticking to a prepared script.
  • Become more curious and intellectually flexible.
  • Have conversations that people genuinely enjoy being part of.

What books had the biggest impact on the way you talk to people?

My first ever episode tips <3

Recording my first podcast tomorrow with a good friend who studied psychology and brain science, and during a master’s in neuroscience.

I’m aiming for a natural long-form conversation about the brain, human behavior, emotions, consciousness, decision-making, and what neuroscience actually understands today.

For experienced hosts/listeners: what beginner mistakes should I avoid, and what are some good questions you’d ask someone with her background?
