Not much, but I love those instances where the Hatter actually cares about his allies

Typically, he’s kind of just a browbeat with an inflated ego so it’s nice whenever he shows a hint of having heart. Guess that description doesn’t apply to Tim Burton’s MH as much but still nice.

I like that the 1949 movie gave the White Rabbit a backstory

Underrated movie in general, it’s also one of the few versions that doesn’t have any Looking-Glass elements in it.

I always find it impressive whenever an adaptation adds some of its own lore but have it still give off Dodgson vibes.

Random question: do you think that the Dormouse is a pet or a citizen?

Most of the animals are shown to have the same level of intelligence as humans but also seem divided by rank. Like for instance:

• Cats and dogs are animal/pet status

• Mock Turtle and Dodo are people status

• frogs and fish are only known as servants

• flamingos and hedgehogs are “things”

• Caterpillar and Pigeon are just wild animals

Then there’s the Dormouse who isn’t suggested to be any of those, but there IS lore behind his creation, Dormice were a popular pet to have in Victorian times. Also the fact that the Mad Hatter and March Hare seem to be the main deal, given that the Cheshire Cat directs Alice to both of them but says nothing about the Dormouse and the two of them are also in Looking-Glass Land but not him.

In the Disney movie, he is treated mostly as a pet rather than a “person” and in the 1985 movie Dreamchild, the Mad Hatter can be seen holding and petting him like he owns him. Also in the book, he is used as a cushion by the other two and stuffed in a pot like an actual Dormouse.

Ofc it isn’t important, just more food for thought.

I like how Alice was often given a red dress in promotional artwork ♥️🌹

I mean I’m glad it’s not the official color but I like it. I think red matches her bold yet irritable nature.

I did the meme

An alt version of the “I think we’re going to have to kill this guy” meme. Mostly because I never understood those crossovers where McGee’s Alice is all brooding and edgy but Walt’s Alice is all bubbly and ditsy. It always seemed to me like they’re both equally sassy and easily annoyed but the main difference lies in age and that one of them is traumatized so she can’t have any carefree moments.

Other than that, they’re basically the same in terms of personality.

Is Bill the only Wonderland character with a name?

the other characters seem to just go by titles, it’s unknown if they have actual names.

the humans/humanoids are labeled by their occupation

the animals are either just called what they are or what sets them apart from their general species

then there’s just “Bill the Lizard.” The only other character I can think of is Mary Ann, but she’s a mysterious case.

is he the only one or am I missing someone? Not that it’s important. It’s just something I noticed and wonder about. (Note: just Wonderland, not Looking-Glass)

So tough being an Alice fan…

Just an attempt at a meme I made. But it is something I’ve wanted to address though… I feel like there’s more content and commentary on it made from people who aren’t actually into it than stuff made by those who are.

I also get that people have their own thoughts and feelings about those topics but it’s always the same stuff over and over… it’s like a Caucus Race of edge. It’s way past overdue for original/lesser done takes.

Around what time did you stop getting labeled as “shy” or “polite” and start getting labeled as “mean” due to quietness?

many of us have been NPC most of our lives, not conversing unless we are spoken to first, thus being “the quiet one.” It seems like as kids, that earns a label of being shy or “mature for your age” but as you grow up, you slowly get assumed to be mean or serious instead fir those who remained quiet.

it was my late teens that I was officially free from the “shy” label and started getting assumed to be intimidating. it’s probably like that for a lot of us because a history of solitude and being spoken down to in youth as our main source of social interaction in youth can lead to developing RBF (Resting B♡tch Face)

also with silence comes being late to develop proper social skills early on, and after learning both from my own experiences and from other less-talkatives, I also learned:

lack of social skills + actually timid = lonely because nobody wants the person

lack of social skills + eye candy = lonely because nobody knows how to “access” the person

confident + still quiet = lonely because people are scared of them

Have there been any other movies that actually explain the “clean cup, move down” routine?

Even though it wasn’t explicitly stated in the book, it’s implied that the seat rotation is because since they can’t leave the party, they can’t clean their dishes, so they have lots of clean china that they keep using and disposing. Basically they go through teacups like tissues.

I can’t think of other film adaptations that explain why they do it, the 1982 film (this one) is the only film I know of that uses that suggestion.

Alice isn’t much of a performer. I wonder if Sabrina will break that mold

It’s just a joke 🤣 I’m aware that she isn’t always portrayed like this, but it’s one of those things that became a bit of a trope of it’s own in the adaptations

I admire how loyal Kathryn Beaumont has always been to the company 👑

She is one of the few Golden Age stars who’s still alive, and outside of just her major roles as Alice and Wendy in their respective films, she would keep coming back to lend her voice for the spinoff stuff alongside being an elementary school teacher as her main career (after acting)

Operation Wonderland

Villain’s revenge

Kingdom Hearts

House of mouse

Alice’s wonderland bakery

(Bonus Kingdom Hearts at the end as Kairi’s grandmother)

I also like how you can hear her voice gradually getting older and her original accent fading due to moving to America, but you can still hear “her” underneath it all.

Hatty is giving Marchy flashbacks

it only happened in these two movies that I recall, but the March Hare doesn’t like Hatter’s singing and the Hatter hates being interrupted. I like to think that part of it is because it annoys them, reminding them what got them in that situation in the first place. Also the Mad Hatter might have a bit of an ego.

Are there any lesser used abilities that you miss? Or ones you think could appear more often?

Most of these are totally nostalgia talking here and they might not actually be as fun as I remember, but nothing wrong with a little reminiscing~

Anyway…

Bubble, Magic, High-Jump, UFO, Metal, Star Rod, Animal, Mirror, and Cupid are mine.
