Bugs in DK1 on purpose?

I was wondering if some of the bugs in the original Dungeon Keeper were intentionally included to make the game more balanced. such as the bug with the Speed spell at Level 10, which no longer lasts for its full duration. E.g. dark Mistresses feel much more overpowered as I recall.

That resulted in a completely different strategy than in Keeper FX. Or, often, neutral rooms in deeper dungeons weren’t available when they were claimed. E.g. in belial it was harder to imprison heroes due to the limited number of small prisons. .

All these changes in Keeper FX have led to a completely different gameplay experience. Some things have become more difficult, but others have become much easier.

Another example, horned reapers become much more difficult to handle once they become angry. As a result i do not enjoy horned reapers as much as in the original version. It was really annoying, though, that you couldn't even cast the Speed spell on a creature if it still had it active but the effect had already worn off. It felt like a cooldown. ☺️

Song-Requests via QR code with subtle tip jar

Hi there,

my actual profession is web development. A few years back, I quit my job because I was done working for "the industry" (felt pointless) and wanted to chase my own projects and ideas instead. Plus, piano’s my passion, and I love sharing it with people. Instant feedback is a completely other things instead of hacking in front of a black mirror...

So, I built this app called Song-Repo. Super stoked to share a new feature: now your audience can request songs directly from your playlist (only the ones you’ve marked as "Done"). The app also generates a QR code for your user page, where you can set up your donation links.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and it’s working pretty well. Thought I’d share it with you all. Check it out here: https://song-repo.web.app/

This is what a Linktree could look like: https://song-repo.web.app/@john0815

Have fun :-)

Live is meaningless... or is it?

If the universe is meaningless, why do shared cultural meanings have such profound real-world consequences?

For example, having a child together doesn't automatically grant the legal status and privileges that marriage does, even though the biological bond already exists. This can be devestating.

At least being born out of wedlock isn't quite as bad today as it was some generations ago.

Can we be truly independent? (Some may say free)

About a year ago, I gave up my permanent residence and started living full-time in a van, traveling across Europe. I'm a software developer, and I taught myself to play the piano. These days I play well enough to earn some money performing on the street or in restaurants and cafés.

This brings me to something I've been thinking about.

A few years ago, I spent a lot of time reflecting on my identity: who I am, where I stand, what I've achieved, and what I want from the future. One value that emerged very clearly was independence. It seemed like one of the most worthwhile goals to pursue.

Today, though, I'm no longer convinced it's actually possible.

On one hand, possessions create obligations. The more we own, the more time and energy we must spend caring about your stuff. That's one reason I embraced minimalism and tried to let go of as much as possible.

But even then, we're still dependent on the system 'cause we live in the modern world and there is no escape of it. We depend on it to satisfy our basic needs: food, shelter, and security. We also depend on other people because we're social creatures. We seek connection, recognition, and appreciation for what we do and who we are. Because what's otherwise the point of existance? (From the perspective of an individual)

So can we ever truly become independent?

I'm starting to think that independence is an illusion. In the modern world, we remain dependent. on money, and ultimately on other people who are themselves embedded in the same system.

I'm curious how others see this.

What does independence mean to you? Is genuine independence possible, or is it always relative?

Note: I deliberately use the term “independence” instead of “freedom” because of Sartre’s famous statement, “condemned to be free,” and its implications regarding decision-making.

Playing piano 🎹 anywhere 🌍

Hello,

I'm a travelling pianist exploring Europe, and I'm currently in Scandinavia. ATM I'm near Torsby, to be precise. I plan to visit Trondheim and Bergen. The piano is my passion, so I'm looking for opportunities to play the piano anywhere! (check out YouTube/@piano42 )

I'd like to connect like minded people and search for opportunities. Do you have any tips on where to go or where to connect? Bars, Cafés, Jam sessions, meet ups etc.

There might be a famous musician (at least for me famous ;-) ) in Bergen but I don't know if his LinkedIn profile is up to date: David Magyel. I like his lessons on YouTube a lot! But I don't want to bother him

Most effective way to lean a new piece sustainably

What is the most effective way to learn a new music piece and make it memorable for a long time?

Some YouTubers inspire me a lot like Jake lizzio from signal music studio, jazer lee, David magyel, jazzmentl, Oliver prehn from NewJazz, rick beato and many more.

I'm not only a passionate Pianist (piano42) but also a web developer. Currently I'm working on 'song-repo' (don't know if it's allowed to post a link here though it's open source and free). Currently you can only set your progress from 0-100%, status like todo, wip, repeat, archived and make some notes for the piece. But I want to give users a framework to help them learn a piece as effectively as possible. What’s important here, and how could one structure it?

I've already given this some thought, and here is a rough draft:

Fundamental

  1. Rythmic level

  2. Melodic level

  3. Harmonic level

  4. Formal level

understanding

  1. Patterns

  2. Theory /Functional

  3. Mental /Hearing

Performance

  1. Technical level

  2. Aural/dynamic level

I want to implement some kind of logbook for each song your working on.

It also came in my mind how to gather experience: sessions for practice, hearing, analysing, jaming, performing etc.

I'm a developer, but not quite a UX expert. The trick is simply to make it as simple and accessible as possible.

Do you have any ideas? What's important to you? What are your methodological approaches? How to structure it? Any music teachers here?

What would you do if no one told you who you were supposed to be?

This question is for everyone here who keeps saying how empty, meaningless, and shitty life is.

What would you do without constraints and limits? Who do you want to be?

I am piano player and app developer. ^^

Well, I updated my app recently. Let me know what you think about it.

https://song-repo.web.app/

It now shows your most recently edited songs. You can customise your own Linktree, which generates a QR code automatically.

It's available on Play Store, Microsoft Store and you can install it within your Web Browser too. Not available on the App Store, as the barriers to entry are far too high. Also it's technical not possible with those kind of app!

If you like it or find it useful, a nice comment on play store would help nuts!
