Unidentified Doe Found in Köln, Germany after Manga/Cosplay Convention
UPDATE: Police has published a new press release. They state that they have presumably identified this Doe but DNA testing is still pending.

Just saw someone posting this on Threads and thought I‘d share here because I know Reddit has a lot of Cosplay fans and maybe some of them are in this sub.
Approximate translation of what the police in NRW stated:
The unidentified deceased person was found floating in the Rhine on the 2nd of June 2026 by police officers and was recovered by the fire department. The body shows self harm scars and many tattoos, including on the face. Based on the clothes the person can be associated with the Cosplay scene. There was a Manga convention in Düsseldorf on May 30th and 31st.

Description: Presenting as female, with long hair, skirt, done nails, red earrings and a silver coloured ring

EDIT 2: The picture linked in this comment that may show the victim alive has been posted in the comments and also on other social media: https://www.reddit.com/r/gratefuldoe/s/k9KbDanFNmthe user who posted it on Facebook initially says that police confirmed it‘s a picture of the victim to them personally, but as far as I can see there has been no public statement about this.
EDIT 3: the person in the picture above seems to have contacted the photographer and has informed them that she‘s alive and not our Doe. I‘m leaving my previous edit up (but crossed out) for transparency and context.
EDIT 4: There have been new developements. Someone on Tiktok has stated she knows the deceased. There are Tiktok and Twitter accounts of the person the Doe might be and the tattoos seem to match. The police has already been informed and is looking into it.
