New helix- advice appreciated

I am remembering why I haven't gotten a helix piercing since my first one thirty years ago lol.

  • This is a new piercing, 6 days old.
  • Solid 14kt gold top, titanium flat back post
  • Post is 16g, 12mm long (I know that's long!)
  • Use Neilmed to clean 3 times a day
  • Can't take anti-inflammatories
  • No embedding or sinking jewelry

As you can see, it's angry and swollen af. It's not oozing and not warm to the touch. There's a little room on either side of the piercing but not a lot.

Any advice or is this a tough it out situation?

TIL ear rumbles hurt after piercing!

So I learned two things today:

  1. I involuntarily wiggle/move my ears just in daily life, like with facial expressions.
  2. I learned this because every time my ear moves, the new conch piercing I got a few hours ago HURTS.

The moral of the story is if you're getting a conch piercing, be ready for unexpected owies that non-rumblers don't have to deal with.

How do you "celebrate" a country you've grown to despise? (vent)

Like most of us on this subreddit, I've lost loved ones and friends to Q, MAGA, White Nationalists, etc. Like most of us, I sit and watch what is happening around us and cringe. I never thought I'd say this but I am ashamed to be an American and I would leave the US in a heartbeat if I could figure out a realistic way to do it.

I am struggling hardcore with the 4th of July. I look around and feel like there is nothing to celebrate but an infinite list of things to be ashamed of. I see an American flag and I don't feel pride, I get the ick. I never thought I'd say this but I am ashamed to be an American.

Stacked ears question- sleeping with jewelry?

So this may be a stupid questions, my apologies if it is.

I've had my ears pierced for decades. Many decades. I have 9 in total and looking to get a couple more.

I have fallen in love with the whole look for a curated stack and have finally spent the money to get some lovely, solid 14KT gold pieces to do this with.

A few have little dangles and/or chains on them. For those of you with more elaborate pieces, do you sleep with them in? I'm worried about messing up the delicate chains but at the same time, I really don't want to be putting 9 piercings in and out every day and night. I know me, by day two I'll be like "screw this" and go back to studs and basic hoops lol.

Do you sleep with your curated, stacked ears?

Terrible Significant Others

I cannot believe the sheer volume of terrible significant others I read about here. It seems like one post after another about SOs that don't understand MS at all, have no desire to educate themselves and makes their SO with MS feel like crap just for being sick. Or worse, SO who dips out of the relationship entirely the minute things start getting hard.

If someone truly loves you and wants what is best for you? They will educate themselves on what you're dealing with, be it MS or some other issue. They won't be another one of the ignorant masses that think you're overreacting, or using the MS as an excuse, or "it's not that bad" just based the fact you look perfectly normal.

If this describes your significant other? Please, don't settle for this behavior. You deserve SO much better.
