Best GBR day tour from Cairns with a 15-month-old?

Hey everyone! I’m travelling to Cairns in late September with my husband and our 15-month-old baby baby boy and we’re trying to decide between Ocean Freedom, Passions of Paradise and Reef Magic for our Great Barrier Reef day trip. Would love some advice from parents who’ve done these tours recently!

We are interested in beginner scuba diving. And we want to take baby’s pram onboard and looking to know if the boats are big enough to accommodate that? We did boat tours in Thailand previously and they were all mostly speed boats so obviously not big enough.

Baby facilities are important to us, I need good shade on deck, baby changing facilities, somewhere calm and safe for baby to sit and play while my husband does an activity.

Here’s what I’ve found so far:
Reef Magic — goes to Flynn Reef on a large boat with a permanent pontoon. Seems to have the best facilities and helicopter option available from the pontoon. Flynn Reef apparently has brilliant fish diversity including clownfish and blue tang which would be amazing for the baby. The large pontoon also seems like it would give us the most space and facilities as a family.

Ocean Freedom — good reviews generally but I’m struggling to find clear information about their non-swimming options and whether helicopter rides are available directly from their reef location. Which reef locations do they go to? Do they have toilets/baby changing facilities? Has anyone done this one recently?

Passions of Paradise — the sailing catamaran looks good too. However I can’t find clear information about whether they offer helicopter rides from the reef? And what about the reef areas they cover and the baby facilities onboard?

My questions for anyone who’s been recently — especially parents:

Which operator is the most baby and family friendly in terms of on-board facilities?

Has anyone taken a lap infant on the reef helicopter? Was baby okay with the noise and movement?

For non-swimmers, which operator genuinely gives the best reef viewing experience?

Is Flynn Reef (Reef Magic) actually better for fish spotting than the other reef locations?

Any tips for managing a 15-month-old on a full day reef trip? What did you wish you’d brought?

How does the pontoon handle if baby gets unsettled — is there enough space to walk around and settle them?

We’re currently leaning toward Reef Magic because of the pontoon facilities and helicopter option but the others are more affordable and we see only positive reviews.

Finally did it! LHR-SYD tickets booked with BA companion voucher for September26✈️

After what felt like weeks of constant checking, refreshing, and rearranging dates… I finally managed it.

London to Sydney BA Club World tickets booked using a companion voucher for early September 2026, with a lap infant added in too.

Anyone who’s tried to secure long-haul BA reward seats on this route knows how brutal it can be. But somehow everything lined up at once - off-peak availability, voucher redemption, and seats for all three of us. The BA website still feels like a bit of a lottery at times, but persistence paid off I guess. Chuffed to say the least!

Now that it’s actually real, if anyone’s done this route in Club World recently, especially with a lap infant, any tips for making the 20+ hours slightly more survivable would be very welcome. 😅

After what felt like weeks of constant checking, refreshing, and rearranging dates… I finally managed it.

Glasgow to Sydney BA Club World tickets booked using a companion voucher for early September 2026, with a lap infant added in too. I know the title says LHR to SYD but we are actually flying from Glasgow, which is free in this case as we are adding a domestic leg with BA on a long-haul.

Redemption breakdown:
Cash fare equivalent: ~£10,000
Cash/taxes paid: ~£1,000
Difference: ~£9,000
Avios used: 175,000 (total for the redemption, including companion voucher)
CPP (cents/pence per Avios)
£9,000 ÷ 175,000 Avios = £0.0514 per Avios
≈ 5.1p per Avios

Now that it’s actually real, if anyone’s done this route in Club World recently, especially with a lap infant, any tips for making the 20+ hours slightly more survivable would be very welcome. 😅

Edit: I am very much aware that round trips are discounted! But flying in club world from GLA-SYD otherwise even at discounted rates wouldn’t be something we could afford otherwise, so this is an amazing deal for us! Also, that only works if we were doing a round trip at all, but we’re not. We are flying home to South Asia on the way back!

Do people regularly buy fresh flowers for their homes?

Bit of a random one, but I always notice people buying flower bouquets at supermarkets, and apparently some people even have flower subscriptions just to keep fresh flowers in vases around the house.

Is this actually common in the UK? I like the idea aesthetically, but at the same time it feels like a waste of money for something that dies within a week or two and constantly needs replacing, so I usually skip the flowers section at the supermarket even if I feel tempted to get something. I do love when a guest brings them over though.

For people who do it regularly, is it worth it for the mood/atmosphere, or do you see it as more of a luxury habit?

New to this sub and mounjaro journey.
Genuinely curious. See some huge transformations here on this sub everyday. Are people counting calories to ensure a strict deficit or just relying on intuition and reduced food noises to guide their choices?
