Berufswechsel

Was gefällt euch an dem Beruf?

You never forget your first one

Long story short:
I started out on our guild’s private Nitrado server. After it shut down, I moved to the official servers, but I never forgot my very first endgame base. Now I’ve rebuilt it, and it feels absolutely amazing.

Now it’s time to decorate, rearrange everything, and then I can finally get back to playing the game. 😄

Unpopular Opinion

Dune: Awakening is where it is today partly because of its own player base.

I’m a day one player, participated in the Open Beta, and have accumulated over 500 hours across both private and official servers.

In my opinion, with its roadmap, current content, announced future features, and the popularity of the Dune movies, the game had the potential to remain successful for 5-10 years or even longer.

However, when I look at how people behaved on official servers from the very beginning, and in many cases still do today, I’m not surprised that the player count has dropped to around 5,000–8,000 players. Duping, exploiting bugs to empty other players’ bases, or deliberately placing Thumpers in Hagga Basin just to lure sandworms onto other players.
These things have done massive damage to the game.

I don’t even want to get started on the Deep Desert. Some of the things that happened, and still happen today are border on psychological warfare and bring out the absolute worst in people. Just a few days ago, I saw a player proudly showing off his “PvE Deep Desert kit,” which consisted almost entirely of Thumpers. To me, that perfectly illustrates the problem: people will go out of their way to ruin someone else’s experience, even when it barely improves their own.

Looking back, I’m genuinely glad I spent my first 400 hours on a private server. The community was friendly, and I was able to enjoy the game for what it was. The other 100 hours on official servers were, by comparison, pure hell.

That’s why I’m happy that Funcom has announced a single-player mode. I hope it helps attract new players and gives former players a reason to come back and give the game another chance.

In my opinion, Dune: Awakening never failed because of a lack of potential. It suffered from a combination of poor community behavior, problematic game mechanics, and questionable decisions regarding the server model.

Now the game can begin.

I’m finally done with my base, now the questing can begin 😂
80 hours of searching for the perfect island, tore everything down 3 times, but now I’m finally happy with it. The second boss can come now 😂

We really need more roof pieces. The level of detail we can add to buildings now is absolutely fantastic, but then the roof options feel lacking in comparison.

For example, having the Eave Facade (Tiles) available as a thatch/straw variant or as a reversed variant would add so much more flexibility. Round roofs would also be amazing, although I can understand if that might be a bit too much to ask for right now.

That’s why I’m mainly focusing on the Eave Facade pieces, having those in multiple variants would already be a huge improvement in my opinion. Honestly, even just splitting the “Large Roof” piece in half would help a lot, so we could finally build proper roof overhangs.
