I'm sure it has been said a thousand times over, but Spike wanted to die, throughout the series his reckless behaviour was for me a clear reflection of his intent to end it all at any given moment, he was severly depressed, in the end he did not go into that building with any intention to make it out alive. And i love that Watanabe commited to the bit until the very end. Truly my favourite character in fiction, see you space cowboy

Even though the writers fell well short of what they could have achieved had they stuck to the source material, i think the series is more enjoyable to watch if you try not to take sides and just remind yourself that, at the end of the day, these are all nobles who are rotten to the core.

That almost tribal aspect this whole "choose a side" narrative, which is even pushed by the show's marketing actually detracts from the viewing experience, in my opinion. Of course, that doesn't erase the adaptation's flaws far from it lol, but it’s just a perspective that makes watching the series more enjoyable i believe.
