A manager shouldn't have a sibling working with them. They should either work on separate shifts or have separate jobs

I have been working for B-Dubs for 2 years. I have never had a problem with my coworkers except the one young woman. She used to be a server and then moved back to HOH. Now she does more work than she should be doing. We work the opening shift and she holds back on her dishes she uses to setup in the morning. She has to run them through the dishwasher. I do janitor twice a week and do prep 3 days a week. We have another janitor for the other 5 days. Instead of letting the janitor do the dishes brought back from the servers she has to do them. If you are doing them she tells you to get out of the way and you are doing it wrong. I pick on her to annoy her enough so she gives up her dishes so I can do them.

Today I did janitor and just got back from mopping the dining room. I was emptying the mop bucket and she was coming by with the shredded chicken and buffalo sauce in a large bowl that wasn't mixed yet. She tells me to get out of her way. I snapped at her. I told her she could wait until I was done. I told her she needed to stop treating people like this. That one day she might end up like I did. I was homeless for 2 years.

I was a manager at Long John Silver's and have been in food service for 20 years. I am 46 years old and I have seen it all. I used to work hard like that doing other people's job and it got me nowhere. I was even talked to by managers about doing their job when it wasn't mine. It is one thing to help someone out when they are getting slammed it's another thing taking work from them when the place is dead and they are running out of work to do. I left 40 minutes early because she wouldn't give me her dishes. One of these days she is going to take on too much and it's going to overstress her. I have been there. Her sister doesn't do anything about it so not my problem. I hope other B-Dubs are doing better.

Am I doing the right thing

My friend's daughter has gotten herself into a bad life. She was in an open marriage and is now divorced. When she has her daughter she doesn't pay her attention. She gives her to her mom and goes out with one of her boyfriends. She evidently blows her money because she asks for money from her mom and me which we don't have because we are both on a tight budget. She works a 12 hour shift as a caregiver. We all live at a trailer court and don't have to pay for water and sewage because there is a well and septic tank. She is a nice person though. I have known her for like 20 years and she needs help.

About a month ago she posted on Facebook about how angry she was because people were abandoning her. She is right though. She has brought it on herself but I feel sorry for her. Then today I saw a post about any church recommendations. My first thought was like no way am I taking her to church with me. Then her mom and a friend of her's mentioned the church I go to. I commented about my church and gave her the hours of the first and second service. I also messaged her about a program we have the second service the first 3 weeks of every month.

Now here's the thing I am wondering if I did was right. She does Uber to make some extra money. I haven't been letting her use my car because of the high mileage, her mom has to use it now because their car is getting repaired and they do Door Dash and I just see that she's going downhill because she's at the point she's going to lose her daughter. Then I saw on Facebook about finding a church and it made me think she's trying to do better with her life. She did tell me she had been watching it on TV for a few months but that's not the same. I did it a couple weeks when I was sick for my church and it just wasn't the same. I decided to let her use my car to do Uber tonight to get some money to help her daughter because she is already watching it on TV and she is looking for a church. I hope that if she goes to a church it changes her. This church started out at the YMCA and now has 2 churches which the one I go to was a donation. This was close to 20 years ago.

I can sympathize with her because I have been through my dark days. My faith in God saved my life and church got me back on the right path. I am a better person now than I was before then. I hope she learns from this and her and her daughter can have a better life.

Well today was an interesting day

I work HOH at B-Dubs. I went outside and when I came in the dishwasher needed turned on. I thought the janitor had accidentally turned it off. Evidently the power went out and came back on. All the screens were off and resetting. Come to find out someone down the street had ran into a power pole.

We got everything up and running except the fryers for the sides like fries, onions rings, tater tots, etc. All we could cook on the fryers were traditional wings, boneless wings and fries. We got the maintenance guy to come in and come to find out the outlet got fried. There were no other outlets nearby that could be used for the fryer. I am not sure what they are doing for dinner because I was on my way out but as far as I know it would be down for a couple days until they could get someone to fix it. I have off tomorrow so I will find out Monday. Oh also walk in and a lot of prep work like the sauces, burgers, steak and everything else needed done. It was a busy morning then this happens.

Update: I went into work today. I guess the manager working Saturday called the Assistant manager and he came in. He flipped the breaker off and back on again and it worked. I guess when the maintenance guy unplugged it it discharged the current. Then it just needed reset. I should have thought of that. I used to test circuit boards.

Do you think pets go to Heaven

A friend of mine lost her dog this morning. She was a support dog for her. I don't care for dogs that much and I loved her.

I have also lost two cats in the last six years. I had my first cat die in my arms. She was like a gift from God, a feral cat, that got me through some really hard times. My second cat I didn't know had passed away because my sister had her because I was homeless at the time. She didn't tell me about it. I now have two cats that are like best friends and are meant to be with me.

I am just wondering if pets go to heaven because there are ones that are like soul mates. It's like God sent them to be there for you as if they are angels, not saying they are. I probably wouldn't have made it through life without my first cat. My second cat showed up a few days before my first cat passed away. I don't believe in coincidence. I believe everything happens for a reason. I mean animals like cats and dogs have to have a soul.

Out Camping with Family and Friends

It is a good thing to get away from life for a few days. We grilled out our burgers, hot dogs and bacon last night. We went hiking this morning it was about a mile and a half. Swimming in the creek takes me back to my childhood. It's just peaceful to get away from the "real world" for a while. We are going to set up Corn Hole here soon and drink some beer. Right now I'm drinking some bottled water after that walk.

Seems like my memory is getting worse. What do I do?

I currently live with a friend that can't easily go places. He lets me use his debit card to get things he wants or we need. He had me stop for beer on the way home and I got the pin number wrong. I used it yesterday and got it right after he told me and it worked so the card is working.

From 2023 to 2024 I had a lot of seizures and I think it really fried my brain. It takes me like 6 months to learn a new person's name. I got 2 cats a couple months ago. My one cat Jimmy who is beside me now licking my hand and playing with my cellphone I keep calling him something like Jeffery or Jesse. I have a coworker named Jesse. I also know a guy named Jimmy though. I like the fact we got them on March 26th, Purple Day.

I am just worried I am going to get worse and develop Alzheimer's. It seems like I am developing dyslexia or something. I do sometimes have problems remembering my clock in number for work. I have always had problems with spelling and sounding out words. I still do. Thank.God for spell check. Now I am missing things like the word "and" when needed or not putting something on the end like "ing" like in "missing" in this sentence which I did mess up. I am 46 years old and will be 47 at the end of the year. I can't live if my ability to comprehend and understand is gone. Is there anything I can do?

Days get rough but end it with Chinese food and it all good

Today didn't start off well. I do janitor twice a week and the other 3 days do prep work. Well today the truck came in and I had to help the cook put it away. The janitor was supposed to be there a half hour before I was. He never showed up.

The cleaning is done in the morning. The dining room, the bathrooms, the bar and getting any trash out. Well none of that got done this morning. If I would have known he wasn't coming I would have done it myself. I mean at least get the bathrooms cleaned and the trash out. He just didn't show up.

The janitor is supposed to keep up on dishes as well. We are supposed to run them through the dishwasher and put them away. Since he didn't show up I had to keep up on that. It interfered in my prep work for the day. Then before I left I was getting the area cleaned up. The sink was a mess and I was cleaning it. I sliced my finger on the drain. It wouldn't have happened because I wouldn't have been doing the cleaning if he would have shown up. I didn't get everything I wanted to get done before I had to leave.

Then on the way home I was going to stop for something for my sinus and chest congestion at CVS. I was so annoyed with him I forgot. I got home and sat down with my cat for about 15 minutes and remembered to go back out and get it.

Now the good news. That Aleve D that I got worked great. It knocked me out for almost an hour and I feel a lot better. I wasn't in the mood to make dinner and just wanted to have something good so I got Chinese. My cat is sleeping next to me now. Now I am drinking my beer and wondering if I should go back and finish off my General Tso's.

He's supposed to work tomorrow and so am I so he better watch what he says and does. Personally I have been a manager before and have worked in food service for 20 years I would fire him. It's a no call no show. Unless he ended up in the hospital or jail for some reason he doesn't have an excuse not to call.

What do you do about working and SSDI

I got a legal notice from Social Security about how much I was earning a month. They want to review my case. I went to my lawyer about it for some advice. Evidently a couple months I am making too much income. It's the months that have 5 paychecks in it, I get paid weekly. I can't afford to go full time at work because I would lose money not to mention it will increase the chances of me having a seizure from the stress. I can't afford to leave my job because I need the money. I don't want to go to another job because this employer has been good to me. The only thing is getting my hours cut back.

I really don't think it's fair. You go a few dollars over the limit and they want to take away your SSDI. Why not cut back on how much they give you. I have worked for 30 years and have had epilepsy my entire life I should be able to live. We all should be able to live. My short term memory is gone. It's very hard for me to learn new things. It takes me like 6 months to learn someone's name if they aren't wearing a name tag. Well guess if I lost my SSDI I would get my food stamps back.

You can get to the darkest days in your life but there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

I am going to tell you a true story about how my life has been for almost a decade now. It has changed so much for me but it took me losing everything to get where I am today. I am not rich or have a great job but I can survive.

The beginning of it all

I have had epilepsy my entire life. In 2018 I had a seizure and it affected my short term memory. I had a job testing circuit boards and after each time we had to sign off that it was completed by us. I forgot and was called in and written up. I was trying to tell my HR about the seizure I had and how it affected my memory and before I got a word out she told me to shut up. I lost my temper and flipped out on her. I was fired. I was running out of money quickly and couldn't find another job so I moved back in with my mom and stepdad. Then everything started going downhill from there.

The darkness begins

The first thing that happened I believe was that my cat that was there for me for over 15 years passed away. She was a feral cat that I think was from the neighbors and after they left she came to me. She helped me through some really hard times in my life. Then the COVID 19 started and my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I started going for my SSDI because of my seizures and my memory problems. I stayed to take care of my mom.

In 2019 a friend passed away from the Covid. He was known as the meat man because he sold steaks and chicken. Then on September 11th 2020 I got up from bed and walked into the living room and my mom didn't wake up. She passed away in her sleep. I was angry. I was angry at her funeral so much I didn't even cry. I felt like God was punishing me or I could have done something to help here. I could have done something to help my friend and my cat. What did I do or didn't I do that I deserved this. I was being selfish.

I was still going for my SSDI so I figured I would stay and help my step dad. His son and daughter in law just swoop in and take over. I am staying with him so I help him around the house, do the shopping and get whatever work that needs to be done. He had dementia so he didn't understand everything all the time.

I just start falling into the darkness even further

Well one day in January of 2022 I went outside, without my smartphone, to vape. I slipped on black ice and broke my ankle. I feel backwards into the porch. I had to crawl onto the back porch and grab a rod to slide open the glass door and use the rod to knock the landline off the wall. I called 911. My step dad was fast asleep in the living room and didn't know anything was happening until the ambulance got there.

Well after I got the cast off and I needed a walker to get around I was having problems sleeping in my bed. The pain from the way I laid in bed it didn't work. So I tried sleeping in my chair. I wasn't getting enough sleep and one day when I was sleeping in my chair my step dad decided to vacuum down the hallway. He's not supposed to be doing it in the first place. I was standing in my doorway holding myself up with my hands above my head using the door frame. He vacuums between my legs, runs into my stomach and falls backwards. I reach and grab him. He accused me of pushing him and his son gets me banned in court. I was homeless at that point.

Who is friend and who is for

My friend that I met like 20 years ago took me in for a couple of weeks. He couldn't keep me there because his landlord wouldn't let me because I wasn't on the lease. My sister wouldn't take me in so she took me to a homeless shelter. I was there for a few months. Then one day I was like 15 minutes late getting my meds. The guy wouldn't give me my meds so I went to his boss. He got told to give me my meds then he kicked me out. My sister then put me in a motel using cash that our mom had stashed away.

I was looking for a job near the motel where I could walk to or take the bus. I didn't want to have to bug my sister for a ride everyday. I kept asking my sister to help me get a job where she worked. She kept telling me, "Just apply you'll get hired.". Well I didn't want to wait months until I got called for an interview. She finally said something and I got the interview and was hired but it was too late. We ran out of money and had to leave the motel. She wouldn't let me stay with her until I got my first paycheck either. I crashed at the Sheetz next door and the guy next to me kept my stuff and I was going to get it the next day but it was gone. I lost my mind. Everything I had was gone. The only reason I am alive today is because of my faith in God. I heard a voice tell me to call 911 so I did. I was admitted and stayed for about a month until they got me into another homeless shelter which is where the light became bright again.

Out of the darkness and into the light.

When I got to this shelter I was so angry and hopeless. I didn't think anything was going to go right. I made a couple friends from the beginning. One of them got me going to church about my second week there. He just came up to me and said, "Get up we're going to church.". I jumped up and went. That was the beginning of the light shining.

The other friend was the one that knocked me back into reality. He was very direct with me. He got me to realize I needed to stop blaming myself for everything. That sometimes things just happen. Which I do believe is true but I also believe everything happens for a reason. There is no such thing as a coincidence.

At the shelter they have an Anger Management program. If you want to stay there longer than 30 days you have to at least take the program which is 8 weeks. Then after the program they give you a job cleaning streets. My friend Leon wasn't able to do the cleaning streets so he left after the 8 weeks. I didn't want to do it because of my seizures so I went looking for a job. It took me a couple weeks but I got hired at Buffalo Wild Wings. I told them about my epilepsy and they said it wouldn't be a problem because they already had someone else that had it. I had begun to realize that all this was happening in a certain order for a reason.

Then one day when we had to do our chores at the shelter I got into an argument with one of the other guys. I had just cut my hair and trimmed my beard earlier that day. He had to clean the sinks and found like one strain of hair in the sink and kept throwing a fit about it. I kept telling him over and over again to shut up and he wouldn't. Then I snapped and said, "Either you shut the **** up or I am going to put your head through the wall!". Someone reported me to my counselor and I was kicked out. I slept that night on the streets with another homeless guy that was a friend. I posted on Facebook tagging my dad and sister about my situation. Saying that I was looking for something but saying goodbye if they no longer hear from me. Then that day I was down at the daycare for homeless people my dad, who is rarely on Facebook, replied back and said if I could make it there I could move in with them. I didn't hear one word from my sister. Actually it's like she stopped talking to me. I got Uber to take me to my dad's about 3 hours away. I spent close to a year with them. I got transferred from the Buffalo Wild Wings I worked at to the one I am at now. I have currently worked for B-Dubs for 2 1/2 years.

There are bumps along the way

I had good times with my dad and step mom but a lot of misunderstanding. I wasn't around them that much so I don't know how they do things at their place. Not to mention I have been out of society for awhile and need to get back. Then my memory is so bad now. Since January 2023 to February 2024 I have had multiple seizures. My brain has been fried. It's gotten worse than it was back in 2018. They couldn't understand that. I kept telling them if there is something you want done either you tell me and I will do it or put it on a list and I will get it done. It took months for me to get her to tell me that the trash needed taken out. The trash can had a lid on it. She fixed dinner so if she filled the trash can up while fixing dinner how am I supposed to know. I helped with dishes and paid for the cable bill to chip in. I also used my food stamps to help with groceries. I did everything I could but wanted to save money so I could get my own place. My step mom couldn't understand that. One day I had to get out of there. I started searching around asking people. My friend's mom, the friend that took me in for 2 weeks in the beginning, took me in at her trailer. I wasn't allowed to drive at the time because of my seizures. I was paying $90 a week for transportation. She said she would get me back and forth to work. I have known her and her son for over 20 years. Now the reason I met them and they are still friends is coming to pass.

I had problems living with her and her husband. Her husband has a criminal background and mental problems. He has a bad temper and loses it over nothing sometimes. There have been several times that I would have lost my anger with him if it wasn't for the program. Then one day an opportunity to get my own place became available and I took it.

It's getting better

Another guy in the trailer court moved out of the trailer I am in now and into a different one. This one became available. We got it cleaned up and I got stuff moved in here. Then about a week after I got moved in a friend from the shelter messaged me asking if I wanted a roommate. I said, "Sure ". His brother drove him here.

I went to my sister's to get my cat but she said she passed away. She didn't tell me when she did either. I don't think she wanted to because I was staying with my dad at the time. So Leon and I went and got 2 new black cats. Jimmy and Ace. They are both so sweet. Jimmy is almost always on my lap and is waiting for me when I get home. We got pretty much all the necessities. There are a few things we need like baking bowls and mixers but they are essentials like chairs and beds. The bills are getting paid and food on the table. I still have bad thoughts about my sister because she wouldn't help me. She can't understand that all she did to help me before I ended up in the hospital doesn't mean anything because of ending up in the hospital. I would do anything I could for her. She's my sister. My only flesh and blood. I don't understand why she let me go. Although what did happen changed me from an angry hateful person to a loving forgiving person. Just remember everything does happen for a reason.

People don't understand those who are disabled

I see so many posts on Facebook that are always against minimum wage going up. They say get a better job. What they don't understand is that there are people out there that can't get another job.

I have had epilepsy my entire life. I have had a job since I was 15 and for the most part been in food service and retail. I had two other jobs in factories but didn't tell them about my epilepsy. When I had a seizure at work they found a reason to fire me. I currently work at Buffalo Wild Wings. I have had multiple seizures at work and they have been there for me. I still have my job. I have been there for 2 and a half years now.

I also used to work at Long John Silver's. I went there for the job as manager. I told the General manager about my disability. He hired me to become a manager. I have never had problems with management about my disability when it comes to food service or retail but I go get a better job they don't want us. We are a liability and interfere with production. They find a way to get rid of women on maternity leave.

I am saying this because people always say get a better job and judge adults for working at places like McDonald's. You don't know why they are working there. For one it could be a second job. Two minors can't work during the day during the school year and after certain hours because of school. They are also only allowed so many hours. The minimum wage should go up for adults at least. They can keep a lower minimum wage for minors. The higher the minimum wage means the less people on things like food stamps and cash assistance. It also means the more money going into taxes and social security. If more money goes into social security that means more money when you retire. It also means that people getting paid like $15 an hour doing manual labor will get a higher paycheck. It helps pretty much everyone. I just don't get why people are against minimum wage going up. It should have happened years ago. It should have started when it began in 1938. They should have had it go up each year with inflation. I bet things would be cheaper and minimum wage wouldn't have to be like $25 an hour.
