Interesting little snippet on Harry and Kim’s “repression”

Encountered this text while buying and reading random books in my play through (screenshot from Fayde). It comes as no surprise that both of these guys are plagued by emotional repression and shame, but I had never seen the game spell it out so clearly until now.

Does anyone else wish we had more time with Jean?

I admit that I was tricked by the fandom. This guy has a truly impressive amount of art, fic, and attention dedicated to him, to the point that going into Disco Elysium I expected him to be like Kim 2.0 or something. Only to find out he only has ONE mandatory scene in the entire game, and only one additional scene where he is actually physically present (excluding radio calls and telepathic nonsense). This saddened me, as the fandom (at least the distant interactions I had with it on social media) was actually starting to sell me on his DILFy qualities. I basically fell in love with him, and what did I get? SCRAPS. CRUMBS.

I think there is so much to be explored with this guy. I want to know about his upbringing, why he joined the RCM, his past with Harry, his FUTURE with Harry (and Kim). It saddens me that all the legal troubles with this IP means we will probably never get any of it.

RIP to the sexiest potential man of all time.

How on earth does Kim trust me?

I’ve been playing this game and really like it so far but I’m honestly surprised how close Kim and Harry have gotten despite his behavior. Weirdly, it only really hit me after internalizing the homosexual underground, when Kim tells Harry that he’s gay. And I was just thinking how much you gotta trust this guy to tell him something so personal in a time and place that is very obviously homophobic. I mean, it’s nice that he did, but I’m so curious what it is about Harry that makes Kim feel so…secure? Around him. Even if you play him as competently as possible, he’s still an amnesiac drunk who doesn’t remember how to do basic aspects of his job. Idk their relationship is just very interesting to me, would like to hear others’ thoughts.

Are zyns supposed to feel so strong?

I’m not new to using nicotine, I’ve been vaping multiple times a day for like two years and smoke cigs occasionally. Today I tried a Zyn for the first time (only 3mg) and had the nicest nic rush of my life. I removed the pouch after 30 minutes because it was getting to be a bit much but my heart rate was elevated for a little while even after removing it. What in the hell are in these things? Why are they so good?

Marriage as a woman who is not attracted to any man

Kind of a weird title, but bear with me please. I am a young woman (currently in college) and a Catholic. I would really like to get married and have children, I really feel that this is the path I am called to and it’s always been my dream to be a mother. However, I have one problem, that being I am seemingly not attracted to any men. And when I say that, I’m not exaggerating. I’ve never had a crush on a guy, never felt in love or particularly devoted to any of the people I’ve “dated” (I use that word loosely, these were basically just friendships with the boyfriend/girlfriend label), and I don’t find any of the typical aspects of masculinity attractive. I am confident that I could have a very fruitful and happy marriage if I found the right guy, but it’s pretty difficult when even after being in a relationship for several years, I never feel anything more than friendship. No spark, nothing. My brain doesn’t seem to tell me when it feels right. It frustrates me, because obviously I’d like to know what love feels like and I would need a husband to have children of my own.

So my question is this: what are the best ways I can decide who will be a potentially good husband if I am not actually attracted to him? And how should I handle it if I do marry a man (or enter into a serious relationship with him), and the attraction never develops?

My mom says this is a German roach but I think it’s a tawny roach. Who’s right?

Found in Rhode Island, USA. The light spotting on the wings and no black stripes on the pronotum were making me think tawny, but neither of us are experts.

What do you think will be the significance of Kris’s crush on Susie in the long term?

So by now I think we all figured out that Kris has feelings for Susie, even if they aren’t necessarily reciprocated at the moment (sorry kid). This is interesting because, in my view, my view, Toby rarely delves into romance just for the hell of it. All of his romantic dynamics seem to have some kind of implication for the characters or the story as a whole. So my question is, do you think this will have any narrative or symbolic significance going forward, and if so, what do you think it could be?

(I understand this is a vague question about something we have no way of knowing for sure, but I’m basically just asking for headcanons/predictions lol)

Making each member of your household do their own laundry makes no sense

I only recently learned that this is a thing that some families do (in particular parents making their children do their own laundry) and I’m kind of dumbfounded by it.

First of all, that has to be the most inefficient possible way to do laundry. Instead of just having one basket, one load of laundry, and one person managing it, you have 4+ baskets, 4+ separate loads of laundry, and 4+ people all trying to manage their own stuff. Queueing up to use the laundry machine in my own house (not counting shared facilities in apartments and whatnot) is not a situation I’d want under any circumstance.

Second of all, it’s a massive waste. Of time, water, and money. Doing several loads of laundry takes much more time than just doing one. And unless each person has enough laundry to fill the machine, you end up using a lot more water than you would just doing everything together, which is bad for the environment and your water bill.

TLDR: It’s a waste of money, water, and time.

Edit: Yes I am an adult and yes I do all the laundry in my household. It is not difficult.

I can’t help but feel sick with sadness every time I see WLW relationships in media

I recently played the new chapter of Deltarune, and without spoiling anything, there is a very open and sweet sapphic relationship that features heavily in the chapter. And I found myself getting the same awful feeling deep inside of me that I get when I watch girls’ love anime and anything with a WLW relationship in it. A strong feeling of indescribable jealousy and sadness.

For context, due to a variety of personal factors, I cannot be in a same sex relationship and don’t know if it will ever be possible for me. But I’ve known that I liked girls (and only girls) since I was 12 years old and this weird depression has followed me around ever since. In fiction and in real life, it doesn’t matter, I’m jealous all the time of people who get to be in love and I can’t.

This sounds incredibly selfish and whiny now that I’m writing it out. At the end of the day, there is still a big part of me that feels happy seeing these relationships represented, and happy that other people get to have them. I know all this logically, but it doesn’t make the sad feeling go away.

This is mainly a vent but if anyone else has struggled before with feelings like these, I would appreciate advice on the best ways to deal with it.

Wood roaches

Does anyone else keep getting them in their house? At first I thought I had a German roach infestation, but they fly, seem to be fascinated by the lights, and don’t have the stripes on their head characteristic of German roaches. They’re quite small and kind of orange-brown in color. I don’t have a picture on hand, but they look a lot like male Virginia wood roaches according to images I found on Google.

Are these a common thing in Rhode Island or do they just like my house for some reason?

Did Sans…clean her pipes?

Maybe I’m just immature but this feels like a s*x joke and I’m surprised I haven’t seen many people pointing it out. That or Sans just likes to do plumbing work when he comes over people’s houses. For some reason.

Why does Asriel turn into an adult in his battle?

I don’t know if there’s an actual reason for this, like for all we know he just did it because it looks cool. But if there are other potential speculations I would love to hear them.

And before anyone comes at me and says he’s still a kid, not only has Toby called him an adult here (a hot adult, mind you), but he has a deep voice and horns which implies he went through puberty at some point.

Sans and Toriel have an adorable dynamic

I’m sure this has been discussed to hell and back but I want to take a moment to appreciate this relationship (setting aside the Deltarune stuff because that’s a whole other can of worms). I know that shipping wars have led to major polarization when it comes to character dynamics, but I feel like it’s so obvious that Sans is a much healthier friend (and potential romantic partner) for Toriel than Asgore.

I mean, think about it, this guy was going to the Ruins door on a routine basis to chat with a woman who he only knew as a disembodied, nameless voice. He kept her company, made her laugh, told her about his life, and made (and kept) promises to her. He had such an impact on this lady that she was writing skeleton puns (likely his puns) in her diary.

Honestly, I think it’s so nice to see these troubled people who carry the heavy weight of responsibility and trauma to find each other, and to have a bond where they can set those things aside for a while and make each other happy.

Also, while I feel sorry for Asgore in some ways, I think it’s funny to watch Sans sidle up to Toriel just before the Omega Flowey fight while Asgore just stares from the side and mopes. Nice epitomization of their dynamics.

Why is Sans dishonest with Papyrus?

I’m sure this question has been asked before, but I’m just playing the game for the first time now and this is bugging me.

So, from what we know, Papyrus is a young adult. Pretty much all estimates I’ve seen put him between 18 and 23, and his username “coolskeleton95” may indicate that he is supposed to be 19 or 20.

And yet, it seems that Sans perpetually treats him like he is still a little kid, to the point that Papyrus himself seems to be stunted (although this likely has other contributing factors).

For example, in the King Papyrus ending, Sans tells Papyrus that his dead friends are on vacation. In all routes, it is made clear on the Papyrus date that he still believes in Santa, which seems…abnormal for someone his age. I’m sure there are other examples I’m missing as well.

I’m sure Sans isn’t actively trying to hurt him, but he is definitely doing so unintentionally. We know that Papyrus is highly vulnerable, as in genocide we can kill him without a fight, and Undyne knows that she can never deploy him to battle for real because he would be killed instantly. Not to mention all the manipulation from Flowey.

So why does Sans do this? What’s the benefit?

Bonus question: where are their parents lmao
