How do I deal with my mom constantly complaining about my dad to me?
I am sorry to bring up a somewhat heavy topic, but I really need some advice because this situation is starting to stress me out so much. Recently, my parents have been fighting a lot. Every single time they argue, my mom comes to me and starts constantly complaining about my dad. She vents about all his problems and it is putting me in an incredibly difficult position.
tbh I don't want to think about whether my dad is a good husband to my mom or not, because this is the problem between them. What matters to me is that he is a great father for me. He has always shown me so much love and care. Because of this, every time my mom says bad things about him, I feel this really weird and heavy sense of guilt. I don't want to speak badly of him at all, but when she gets like that I feel pressured to agree with my mom just to satisfy her.
I actually tried talking to her about it once. I politely asked her to stop complaining about my dad to me. Instead of understanding what i think, she got incredibly angry and lashed out. she said something like Can't you even listen to this much for me? I feel so emotionally exhausted. How am I supposed to handle this situation
I finally confessed to my boyfriend that I’ve been secretly checking his phone because of my past trauma
I wanted to share a quick update because some of you might remember my previous post. I was the one who admitted to secretly checking my boyfriend's phone every single day because of the trauma left by my ex. During the early hours of this morning, l felt more guilty so I finally confessed everything to him. tbh he was really shocked and hurt that I didn't trust him. But once we sat down and talked, he was incredibly understanding. He realized that my actions were coming from a place of self-defense because of what I went through in the past.
I apologized for breaking his trust. In response, he made a really mature compromise. He told me that from now on, whenever I start feeling anxious, I should just tell him honestly, and he will show me his phone right then and there. However, he also drew a firm boundary. he told me that if I keep snooping behind his back, his trust in me will eventually erode completely, and it will be hard for us to stay together. I completely agree with him on this.
I’ve also decided to start going to therapy to work through my underlying issues. I am just so incredibly grateful to my boyfriend for choosing to trust me again, even after I let him down. Seeing his reaction has made me realize how much I want to change and heal, not just for our relationship, but for myself.
My husband traveled to Germany and cheated on me with an engaged man
We’ve been married for a year. Usually, whenever he was on his phone, he was super casual about it—he’d easily show me what he was doing, and we’d often scroll through Instagram or watch YouTube together.
But then he went on a solo trip to Germany. The moment he came back, everything changed.
Suddenly, whenever I even glanced near his phone, he got incredibly defensive. He would literally shield the screen or pull away. It wasn't just a one-time thing; it kept happening, and the sheer frequency of his defensiveness made my stomach drop. Something felt horribly wrong.
Last night, while he was fast asleep, I couldn't take the anxiety anymore. I did something I never thought I'd do—I went through his phone. And what I found in his chat history completely shattered me.
While in Germany, he met a Korean man at a travel cafe under the pretext of just "grabbing a meal." It turns out this man is 10 years older than him and literally just got engaged to his partner. They ended up doing god knows what together, and their chats were filled with them talking about how they want to get married to each other.
I am just completely blown away. I can't breathe, and I've been crying non-stop. I honestly just wish this was all a nightmare and I could wake up. What am I even supposed to do now?
TL;DR: My husband of 1 year went to Germany and cheated on me with an engaged man who is 10 years older. I found out by going through his phone after he became extremely defensive, and now i don't know what i am supposed to do.
My exes cheated on me, and now I secretly check my current boyfriend's phone every single night.
My last two ex-boyfriends both cheated on me, and I only found out because I secretly looked through their phones.
Ever since then, it’s left me with this deep, lingering trauma. It planted this irrational voice in my head telling me that every guy is going to cheat on me eventually. Fortunately, I got lucky and met an incredibly good person. We’ve been together for almost two years now. Deep down, I know he is completely trustworthy and has given me absolutely no reason to doubt him.
But despite knowing how good he is, I still can't stop myself from looking through his phone. It’s gotten so bad that I check it almost every single night whenever he goes to take a shower. Luckily I’ve never found a single suspicious thing. And I really hope it stays that way forever.
I know I need to trust him more and let this go, but the fear of being blinded again makes it so hard to stop. I just needed to get this off my chest.
How do you find your genuine "Why" for marketing when you pivoted into it by process of elimination?
I am currently preparing to apply for full-time corporate marketing roles, and I’m hitting a wall with a question that appears on almost every application: "Why do you want to be a marketer?"
To be completely honest, I’m struggling to find my own answer, and I’d love to hear some of your perspectives.
For context, my background is actually in software engineering and web development. I eventually decided to pivot to marketing because I realized the day-to-day dev work wasn't the right fit for me. Since then, I’ve completed two marketing internships where I managed paid ads, organic content, and influencer marketing.
While I felt a solid sense of pride and satisfaction when my campaigns hit great performance numbers, I wouldn't say I have this overwhelming, fiery passion for the field. Because my entry into marketing was largely a result of process of elimination, I’m finding it difficult to articulate my "Why" on job applications without feeling like I'm just making things up.
For those of you who have made marketing your career (especially career switchers):
- What is the core drive or mindset that keeps you in this field?
- How did you build a genuine answer to the "Why marketing?" question when you were starting out?
I would love to hear what made you decide to do marketing for a living :))
Switched from Software Engineering to Marketing, but I’m not sure if I "love" it.
I’m currently preparing to apply for full-time corporate marketing jobs, and I’m hitting a massive wall with a question that appears on almost every single application. "Why do you want to be a marketer?" To be completely honest, I’m struggling to find my own answer, and I’d love to hear your perspectives.
For some context, I’ve already done two marketing internships. I’ve worked on paid ads, organic content, and influencer marketing. To be fair, I wouldn't say I ever found it deeply fun or exciting. There was a brief moment of pride and satisfaction when my organic or paid campaigns hit great performance numbers, but that feeling faded pretty quickly.
Before this, I actually studied software engineering, especially web development. I decided to pivot to marketing simply because I found coding and dev work to be way more painful and draining than marketing. But because my reason for choosing marketing was basically process of elimination, I honestly don’t know if I truly love this field.
Since I need to write these job applications now, I keep questioning myself. What is it that drives people to choose marketing? What is your Why?
Obviously, there's no single right answer, but I’m genuinely curious about what kind of mindset, passion, or specific moments made you decide to do marketing for a living.
