First cosmetic upgrade

Got some weather techs in black, wanting to compliment the black accents throughout the interior and exterior since there’s so much tan already inside. Not sure how I feel about it. Definitely don’t hate it, but second guessing. Thoughts? Also got some matte black WT rain guards.

Ball joints and steering knuckles

Hi all, going through the list of things I need to replace for the “new” ‘00 limited. Definitely ordering some oem lbjs, ubjs, link assemblys, but what do we think about these steering knuckles? They’re fairly rusted, should I just go ahead and replace them? Unfortunately they’re $525 each, but willing to bite the bullet if they’re a hazard. When I drive and go over any sort of small bump, there’s an unpleasant knocking sound in the front. Would you drive it around till parts get replaced?

4WD issue

This will most likely be my first of many posts regarding mechanical advice on my newly acquired ‘00 limited. So this thing sat for a minute and the 4WD supposedly engaged okay up until recently before I purchased it. Looks like it’ll shift to 4Hi and N, but not 4Lo. Also, when the 4WD button is pressed and N or 4Hi are engaged, the dash lights just blink. I’ve read about a few issues it could be, but haven’t seen a post with my exact problem. Any advice is welcome as well as criticism for my lack of knowledge; this truck is going to teach me a thing or two.

Update: She’s mine!

Went to look at the 2000 Limited 4WD and everything looked good to me. I was the first to look at it, they took $11k and am going to take it home Saturday. Minor issues but hey, it’s 26 years old and only has 126k miles. Hoping the 4WD issue is a simple actuator fix. Let me know how you think I did.

Good deal?

Going to look at this 2000 Limited 4WD. 127k miles, asking $11.9k. Very clean inside, out and underneath from photos. So, the story I was told was the guy got this and another one, same year and trim but in all silver with 87k miles from a friend that’s a retired car dealer. They have sat for a while, but the guy bought the silver one from him and is now just helping to sell this one. What I’ve been told is the 4WD was working but recently stopped and the light just blinks. Assuming from it not being active. Also, ac just went out, also presumably from sitting. Antenna also doesn’t come up. Seem like potentially easy fixes? Anything else I should look for while I’m there? New parts include: battery, alternator, mass air flow sensor, front struts, front brake rotors and calipers, front cv axels, exhaust system and headlights.

Good deal? 2000 4WD SR5

Hi everyone, still searching for a 3rd gen and this came up yesterday not far from me in VA. $12k, 160k miles. It’s a one owner car from NY, so of course, worried about the undercarriage. It’s very clean inside and out, but what does everyone think about the condition underneath? I’ve seen worse, but is there anything specific I should be worried about?

Is this ‘99 LX470 a good buy?

Going to look at this ‘99 LX470 tomorrow, 180,000 miles, $12.5k on east coast. Very limited photos so far, inside looks clean, but haven’t seen underneath or the engine. It lived in Florida up until 2011 at 80,000 miles, then up in MD/VA for the remainder, so hoping rust is minimal. Two minor damage reports in ‘05 and ‘17. Has a decent service record. What should I really be looking for when I check it out in person and test driving?

2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited

Looking at possibly buying the car above with 100k miles on it for around $12k. This would be my first Subaru. Does anyone have a 2010-2014 3.6R and any tips on what to look for before purchasing or major maintenance they’ve run into? Has a decent service record with 2 owners. I’d be putting a lift, black wheels, off-road tires, headlights, etc. once I got it to make it more to my taste, hence the second photo. Thoughts?

Is this a good buy?

Looking at this 2002 SR5 4WD, 153,000 miles, 1 owner, great service record for $11k. Only thing is I’m a bit worried about the frame/underside of the vehicle. Is this amount of rust too much or fairly typical for an east coast 4Runner? Looks like just surface rust, but idk. Let me know your opinions.

Is this a good buy?

Looking at this 2002 Sequoia Limited V8 4WD in Imperial Green with 222k miles. They’re asking $17k. It’s across the country, so I wouldn’t be looking at it and would need it shipped. Timing belt and water pump recently serviced. It looks incredibly clean, no rust. I know these things last forever, but is it worth the money with how many miles it has?
