How I supported hiringcafe

I saw another job board yesterday and upon taking a closer look. It is scraping from glassdoor, Dice and other top players. Since scraping other people job board clearly violates ToS, I quickly email inform those players. I hope they get Cease and Decease soon.

Tech job hunting insight

Just a theory.

Unlike other countries, in Malaysia, any established tech company, they gonna have a proper profile and history on top job search site like jobstreet and linkedin?

Any of you working in legit tech companies doing legit tech work that doesn't have an active presence on jobstreet/linkedin/etc?

Tech job here referring to software engineering roles.

TQ.

I have a question about hiring cafe

If employer A post exclusively on glassdoor, would said post appeared on hiringcafe?

If yes, why is that not illegal?

If you argued it is not illegal, does that mean people can make a hiring cafe clone and take hiringcafe content onto their own website?

I swear to God, genuine question. Not rage bait.

Why they bother list out tech stack in entry role?

Since we're just gonna spam anyway.

We will just demonstrate our tech capability in our own language or pseudocode and learn it as we join the company.

Are you and your coursemate already proficient in at least one tech stack by the time you graduated?

One role, 100 applicants, if you're not having proficiency in at least one tech stack(We're not even discussing whether it's the stack they wanted), how're you gonna approach job hunting?

Mass spam and pray to Jesus?

My opinion on "kable"

Below are the assumption why "kable" phenomenon makes sense and exists:

  • entry level roles, meaning low impact to business
  • fresh grad not expert or skilled anyway, meaning choice one over another matter little
  • avoid piss off boss/management
  • very fast close case instead of drag on weeks interview multiple people

What we can do:

  • get skilled or become super "likeable"
  • or/and find "kable", participate meetup, event, competition, get friendly and yap to them and get them to recommend you to HR/hiring team

What do you value?

Hello, recruiters. I want to build a SWE entry role jobsearch platform. Could you tell me what feature you value the most? Is there something existing platform not doing good enough?

For CS grad already working 1-2 years, do you agreed?

My mindset is that students should have

  1. Proficient in one popular tech stack by the time they grad. Popular as in what is demanded by the job market.

  2. They should have solid personal project(s) to showcase their passion, drive and capability.

  3. Network and cultivate builder/entrepreneur mindset.

Both of which driven by the fact that they are working towards a target role in the industry.

If your bro/sis is getting into CS, would you advice him/her to do the above? Agency over your career is one form of happiness.

I don't get it how do you guys deal with it?

You mass apply. But let's say you only good with typescript. And now in one interview they give you some python coding round.

Back to back, another company give you Java coding round

Like what is even the point of lying and blind spam applications?

Make it make sense.

EDIT: Job market is bad, you're not the only one applying, you don't put up effort, someone else will. They want python, you can't do python, someone else can.

I'm not a recruiter and I'm not suffering from unemployment(I'm unemployed but I'm not suffering from it). Stop throwing irrelevant, off-mark insults to me, it only muddy the discussion.

Contribute, not add noise.

Recruiters, is linkedin or whatever you're using doing their job for you? Any complaints?

Title says it all. I'm curious what complaints do recruiters have on those platforms in terms of sourcing talent.

Or just general problem faced on every single recruitment platform.

I'm researching for my project.

CS freshgrad job hunting

Popular tech stack I see mentioned in the job market are:

- Laravel

- .NET

- js/ts

- Django/FastAPI

- Spring Boot

Do you have a proficient stack or at least one you're familiar with from your study?

Do you only apply to the one you're familiar with or spam or even lie?

If I have no experience and the post didn't say welcome fresher, should I apply?

CS graduate, most job post mentioned some year of experience required. Should I try my luck? Is it a norm to try your luck with these posting?

Wouldn't that just makes the recruiter job unnecessarily complicated?
