Looking for a less occlusive moisturizer! Rosacea/Seb Derm
Hey everyone! Im currently using Cerave Baby Moisturizing Cream but Im finding it too occlusive which is causing flare ups from the trapped heat. Im thinking maybe its the petrolatum? Anyways Im looking for something new to try out. Something that’s also Malassezia safe for my Seb Derm.
Was looking at maybe trying the Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer because it seems less occlusive than Cerave but if you guys have any other suggestions please let me know!
Flare up after moisturizing? Please help!
The first picture is after showering with lukewarm water and applying Cerave Baby Moisturizing Cream. The second picture is after about an hour or so. Does anyone else have the issue of flaring up after moisturizing? Im not sure if its that maybe the Cerave is too occlusive and trapping heat or if its a reaction to the ingredients. Im also diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis but the moisturizer is malassezia safe.
Can someone recommend me a less occlusive moisturizer? Something that is fungal safe as well.
Rosacea & Seb Derm - Gentle exfoliation?
Need recommendations for ways to Gently exfoliate and not irritate my Seb Derm & Rosacea! Every time I shower I get a build up of white flakes that soften. Its preventing my moisturizer from blending in. Its so tough to manage both of these conditions. If anyone has any other tips or advice for managing both Rosacea and Seb Derm please share! Thank you for your time!
Any experience using Ivermectin/Soolantra for Rosacea + Seb Derm?
Got diagnosed back in April with Seb Derm after suspecting I had Seb Derm for the last 10 years. Experience with the Derm was pretty underwhelming. It lasted like 3 minutes and got prescribed 2% Ketoconazole and Tacrolimus. Anti fungals don’t really work on me and are very drying. Hated the Tacrolimus due to its side effect with Heat Sensitivity. Living in Florida its horrible. It was also very greasy. Stopped using it.
Its had me thinking the last couple weeks that I may also have Rosacea. I always have a red chin, nose, and cheeks. I also get little pus filled pustules on my nose and a few on my cheeks. Another thing that convinces me is that whenever I apply an Occlusive Moisturizer like Cerave I get a flare up on my face. This is what was happening with the Tacrolimus. Even though I use Malassezia safe products I still get irritated. I also developed Blepharitis this year but I have kept it controlled by using eyelid wipes every morning and taking Omega 3. All of this has led me to think maybe I have an abundance of Demodex. I grew up with the habit of never washing my face in the mornings as a teenager. Not sure why. All the excess sebum would make it a perfect breeding ground for Demodex.
Anyways I went to CVS and purchased OTC 0.5% Ivermectin Lice Treatment. Im so far 5 days in and Im a bit scared to continue and I feel like I need reassurance. Its very moisturizing and doesn’t irritate me or burn but my face is noticeably more red and I am getting a few pustules popping up. I have read that it’s supposedly normal at the beginning to be worse because of the “die off” phase. I probably would have rather tried Soolantra but I have no Insurance and can’t afford it. Im going to stick with it and hopefully I see improvement.
Does anyone have success stories or experience with Ivermectin/Soolantra? As well as any future advice to dealing with this. Thank you
Seb Derm in ears after piercing?
Did anyone else develop flakes and Seb Derm symptoms on their ears after getting them pierced? I’ve had them pierced for 2+ years. I used to not have this issue before my earrings. I got pierced at a professional tattoo shop and the earrings material is Titanium F-136 implant grade. Its a constant cycle of scratching them and prying out flakes. Both yellow and white flakes. Behind the ears as well.
What is your favorite backmarker F1 car of all time?
For me it would be the Super Aguri sa06 from 2006. Only did 7 races but I love the livery and the aggressive regulations from this period.
PLEASE HELP! What causes this?
Every time I shower or cleanse my face then moisturize my face gets inflamed! At first I thought it was the temperature of the water but it happens when I use colder water. It definitely is worse with warmer water. I don’t understand if this is a symptom of Seb Derm or maybe Rosacea? I was only diagnosed with Seb Derm. It then calms down a bit after an hour or so but I still have underlying redness and inflammation. My skin is also constantly oily. I’ve implemented using a bit of Squalane oil with my moisturizer but honestly don’t see much improvements but this was happening before using it. I get this everyday and Im scared that its just damaging my barrier over and over and making me hypersensitive but I don’t know what to do to not get this reaction.
I don’t understand what’s wrong with my skin
I am so tired of dealing with my skin. I have no idea what Im doing anymore. I just want normal skin. I have no motivation to leave the house or hang out with friends because of how self conscious I am about my skin. My skin doesn’t necessarily feel super dry but it is constantly red and inflamed especially after cleansing and moisturizing. Im tired of trying different products and spending money. I don’t know if its a damaged skin barrier or an inflammatory condition. My skin has uneven texture and looks so rough. I don’t know if I should try taking some supplements to reduce inflammation. I spent many of my teen years washing my face with really hot water in the shower and I feel like I’ve permanently damaged my skin. If anyone has ideas or suggestions I would appreciate it. Im really scared to try a lot of products because my skin is just so reactive
Is this a barrier issue?
Why does my face/T zone turn red like this every time I cleanse and moisturize? I don’t use hot water and I use Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser and Cerave Moisturizing Cream. I just ordered some Squalane Oil to add to my moisturizer so hoping that helps. The redness then goes down after about an hour but I constantly have a red hue on my nose, chin, and cheeks.
Question about the Skin/Moisture Barrier
I have heard success stories of people being able to manage facial Seb Derm by repairing their barrier. I don’t have much flaking on my face apart from my eyebrows, side of nose, beard/chin, and ears. I used to not have flakes on my ears but developed them after getting my lobes pierced which I thought was weird. Anyways for people that have healed their barrier does it get rid of the flakes in these problem areas? I don’t apply my skincare to the skin under my beard or in my eyebrows so Im wondering if I am supposed to be targeting these areas as well? I just ordered Squalane Oil and im hoping that it helps with the barrier repair. If you guys have any other ingredients or products that helped repair your barrier please let me know! Thank you
Please recommend me a Steam co-op game I can play with my crush!
Im at the moment considering It Takes Two or Stardew Valley or maybe both. If you guys have any recommendations let me know. As well as any dating advice lol. Maybe a game that can bring us closer together. Thank you!
What made the biggest difference for you in healing skin barrier?
I’ve heard success stories of people being able to control/manage their facial Seb Derm by healing the skin/moisture barrier. I believe after so many years of sun damage and taking really hot showers, I damaged my skin barrier which led to me developing Seb Derm. I’ve been following a simple routine for a few days which has already improved the oilyness on my face but I feel like im missing that extra push to fully heal my barrier whether it be a product or method. My current routine is very simple and the same for AM/PM
Wash face with La Roche Posay Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser
Pat Dry Face
Mist face with water using a spray bottle
Apply Cerave Moisturizing Cream
Repeat for PM
I’ve heard some users mix Squalane Oil with their Moisturizer which I might look into but any recommendations would be appreciated! Thank you everyone
I need a new approach… PLEASE HELP
Got diagnosed back in March but have been dealing with symptoms for the last 10 years. This is one of the most confusing conditions to deal with because I feel like everyone has a different story on how they developed it and what symptoms they deal with. As well as what works for them. I personally think I developed it from years of taking really hot showers and damaging my skin barrier in my teen years. As well as hours and hours being in the sun without UV protection. I have tried Antifungals on the face and honestly haven’t had improvement which makes me further assume that this is all caused by a damaged skin barrier and me using Antifungals is just further damaging it. I don’t get much flakes on the face other than side of the nose, eyebrows, and chin/beard area. The redness on my face that you see here is after showering/cleansing/moisturizing. It then calms down after about an hour or so but I never have a constant flare up on my face like others do. My skin is just very reactive to everything. So I ask the community. What has helped you in calming and nourishing the skin barrier? I really am looking to try Squalane Oil. I’ve heard success stories of people being able to manage symptoms just from healing the barrier. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
Seeking help outside of the US/Europe?
Does anyone have experience with getting treatment in the East? You know like South Korea, China, Turkey, etc. I recently found a website of a clinic in South Korea called “Hanul Maum Korean Medicine Clinic” that seems to specialize in treating skin conditions. One of them being Seb Derm. It specifically mentions the link between internal issues and the skin which is something I firmly believe is true. Traditional Chinese Medicine has known this for hundreds of years yet here in the West we are just now coming to terms with it. Anyways this clinic in South Korea seems to explain different ways Seb Derm affects our blood as well as body temperature. A lot of the treatments involve Ultraviolet, Topical Medications derived from medical plants, Acupuncture, and High Frequency Thermal Therapy. It mentions that those with Seb Derm have low amounts of beneficial bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and high amounts of harmful bacteria like Clostridium difficile which leads to the production of Colon Toxins. One thing thats interesting is that it mentions that people with Seb Derm often have lower core body temperature which reduces blood flow to the intestinal mucosa which causes damage & slow regeneration leading to leaky gut which then triggers Seb Derm. These are quotes from their website/article so take it with a grain of salt as I am not a doctor/scientist but I find it really interesting to hear different point of views on the root cause of Seb Derm and how it affects us. So now I ask the community, have you found answers or treatment in Eastern Countries?
