How do you get yourself to *actually* start the thing you've been dreading? [Discussion]

I've got a project sitting here that's not even that complex, honestly. But for weeks, maybe even months, I just can't bring myself to start it. It's like my brain just shuts down at the thought of the first step. I've tried the "just 5 minutes" rule, breaking it down into tiny steps, all that good stuff, but the inertia is real. It's stressing me out more to not do it than it probably would be to just get it done. Anyone else deal with this? What's your actual trick for overcoming that initial wall and just beginning?

AITAH for asking my friend for gas money after driving her 6 hours?

So my friend "Chloe" (28F) needed a ride to pick up this super specific vintage lamp for her apartment. It was 3 hours away, so a 6 hour round trip total. I (28F) told her I could do it this past Saturday, but mentioned I was pretty busy and gas prices are kinda crazy right now. I thought that was a clear enough hint without being awkward.

We drove there, picked up the lamp, and on the way back, we stopped at a gas station. My tank was getting low so I filled it up. Chloe was just kinda scrolling on her phone the whole time and didn't offer to chip in or anything. The total was like $70 for the full tank. I figured she'd at least offer half, you know?

When we got back to her place, she thanked me for the ride and that was it. A couple hours later, I texted her something like, "Hey, glad we got your lamp! Just wanted to split the gas from today, it was $70 so $35 each." She immediately got defensive, saying I offered to drive her and that she thought I was doing her a favor. She called me petty and said if I wanted gas money, I should have said something upfront. Now she's not responding to my texts.

Idk, I thought it was kinda implied? It was a huge favor and a long drive. Am I the asshole for expecting her to contribute to gas without explicitly asking beforehand?

AITAH for telling my brother his new girlfriend is way too young for him?

So my brother is 32m and he's been dating this girl for about 3 months. She's 19f. I'm 28f. I know 32 and 19 is a big age gap, but it's more than that. She seems like a really sweet kid and I don't think she's a bad person or anything, but she has literally zero life experience. She's still figuring out what she wants to do with her life, she's never lived alone, she's never had a serious job. My brother, on the other hand, is really settled. He has a great career, owns his own home, and is talking about marriage and kids like it's already a given.

I brought it up to him because I was worried about him and also worried about her. I told him I thought she was way too young and inexperienced to be thinking about marriage and kids with him, and that he was going to end up hurting her or vice versa. He got really defensive and told me it was none of my business and that I was being judgmental. He said he's happy and that's all that matters. Now he's barely talking to me. I honestly thought I was looking out for both of them, but maybe I overstepped. AITA?

airtel black billing is a complete nightmare, they are double charging me and suspended my fiber

I clubbed my postpaid connection and fiber into Airtel Black last month thinking it would make things easier, but it has been a complete disaster.

First, they generated two separate bills even after merging the accounts. When I contacted support, the agent told me to ignore the individual bills and just pay the combined amount on the Thanks app. I did exactly that.

Now, they have suspended my fiber connection saying payment is overdue for the standalone fiber account. I've spent the last three hours on call with customer care. Every time I explain the issue, they transfer me to a different department or tell me to wait 24 to 48 hours. The Airtel Thanks app literally shows a negative balance (meaning I overpaid) but still says my services are suspended due to non-payment.

Has anyone faced this before? How do I get them to actually escalate this to someone with a brain? fr considering porting everything out to Jio if this isn't sorted by tomorrow, I can't work without internet.
