Help analyzing logs.

Print was going well until it wasn't. Need help to figure out what is going on. Logs and video linked as a zipped file.

  1. This is a new SV08 MAX with enclosure.
  2. Filament is Overture PLA Pro. The filament was dried in the SH03 filament dryer with stock settings according to instructions.
  3. Default profile on OrcaSlicer 2.4.2 for both the printer and the filament was used.
  4. I manually slowed the print down to 70% about 10 seconds after the print started.
  5. I have had other "tall" prints fail in much the same way. Only big prints like this one (400mm wide and 400mm tall range of objects) are failing. Small prints are fine.
  6. One thing I have noticed is that the printer is generating so many G-forces that the magnetically locked glass doors RATTLE during the print. The whole workbench wobbles from it (hence the printing speed slowdown I did).
  7. Code modification: I've done are tweaking the auxiliary filament feeder to not make as much noise (slowed it down).
  8. Code modification: Changed the heater bed to include a PWM Cycle change to 49Hz (can't remember the exact code but that's what it does) to eliminate lights flickering in my house from the bed heating up.
  9. I've noticed strings and small blobs occasionally being thrown out. I've done a full days worth of calibrations but opted to use stock settings for this first run.
  10. I've run a full set of calibrations on the machine itself (including PID).
  11. At time 19:00 or so there is a dip in memory from a steady 579k down to 542k that does not occur anywhere else. I think this corresponds to the error in printing but I am not sure.
  12. I have also noticed a temperature spike in the Host that occurred during the memory dip at 80C. I know that around that temp magical things start to break other magical things. Do I have a motherboard cooling issue??

Help with setup SV08 Max

This is my setup for my sv08 max, you can see see tucked away to the right is a small filament dry box at the minute. However I’d like to setup a dry box I’ll get big enough for 5kg spools and print from that. I want to put this box on the shelf I have above the printer. So I’m wondering if anyone’s done anything similar. I want to keep the auxiliary feeder as I have no problems with it as well as using 5kg spool I feel it’s necessary. So I somehow need to mount the aux feeder the other way round facing down and also in a suitable place for it to reach a dry box on the shelf above it.

Does anyone know of anyone or seen and design of something to do this? Mainly it’s just about mounting the aux feeder some where different.

SV08 Max – infill breaking up

I’m having this weird issue on my Sovol SV08 Max where the outer walls print perfectly clean, but the infill/internal lines are breaking up and becoming disconnected, as shown in the photo.

I don’t think I’m pushing the printer too hard. My max volumetric speed is only 12 mm³/s, my print speeds are relatively low, and I’ve already calibrated the filament/flow and the printer.

The strange part is that the walls look great while the infill has these intermittent sections where it seems like extrusion just stops or becomes very weak.

Could this be a partial clog, extruder/feeding issue, retraction issue, or something else? Has anyone experienced this on the SV08 Max?

I am new to large format 3d printing, i just got my printer and calibrated everything and did bunch of small test prints before running this print.

Is this ringing/shift just belt tension issues?

Already tightened the belts before (didnt seem like I could get them as tight as I'd like, but)
Given WHERE the issues are I'm wondering if it's related to the text for some reason?
Certainly not going super fast. Max speed is 200mm/s and that's for infill. Walls are around 120

SV08 Max btw. Forgot to add it to title... and the photos too apparently! Brain farts

Brand New Sovol SV08 Max Boot Issue

I just received my Sovol SV08 Max. I assembled it and turned it on. I get a mic buffer_mcu error. See attached screenshot. When I turned the printer on, the sovol logo appeared, the a screen with “Starting …” stayed on for a while…maybe 10-15 minutes. After that, the mcu buffer screen appears. I connect to WiFi using the network option. Then I rebooted by pressing the restart firmware button. Same problem persists. I asked co-pilot and it suggest making sure connectors are seated. I triple checked and did so to the motherboard as well. Still same problem. Nozzle fan and blue led light both work.

Any ideas on what is going on and how I can get it working? I’m ready to do my benchy test! 🙃

Hey everyone! I could use some advice on some hardware trouble—it looks like the motherboard on my Sovol SV08 Max got fried after a really bad thunderstorm.

I brought the printer with me to my summer place, and we had a massive storm yesterday. Lightning must have hit a transformer or the power lines nearby because the voltage surge actually tripped the dedicated circuit breaker for the printer's outlet. The printer was powered on at the time, but it was just sitting idle and not printing anything.

When I went to the workshop this morning and turned it on, it got stuck on the "System Starting" screen for about 4 or 5 minutes. It eventually booted up, but immediately threw a Klipper connection error. After troubleshooting for a while, I flipped the printer over and found that the FAN3 port, which I was using to hook up an external filter fan, had completely melted and burnt out.

I grabbed my multimeter to check things out and realized the 5V power rail is sagging down to 1.75–2.00V. Because of that, the DL7 status LED on the board is just barely glowing and flickering erratically—it's simply not getting enough voltage. Strangely enough, when I accidentally shorted that FAN3 pin with the multimeter probe again while testing, the LED suddenly lit up bright and steady for a split second. Everything else on the board looks physically fine aside from the burnt fan port, but there's clearly a major issue on the power side.

So, I wanted to ask those of you who have experience with this:

Is it even worth trying to fix this board (like replacing the voltage regulator), or did the surge likely kill the STM32H7 MCU for good?

If the board is toast and needs to be replaced, what's the best option to get for the SV08 Max so it plays nicely with Klipper without a massive headache over pinouts?

I'd really appreciate any helpful tips or advice!

SV08 Max Klipper issues

Greetings.

So i tried to Mainline my SV08Max and borked something up.

i followed instructions Demon Klipper on github and ended up with some eddy ng errors since its abandoned. I got instructed to uninstall eddy ng and now i am hard stuck with this error

SV08 Max Died

I've been using my SV08 max for about 7 months. I had a large 27 hour print with ASA CF with the print bed set to 100°C. Well less than 30 minutes before the print is completed I noticed the printer went offline on Obico. Came to check on it and the printer has lost power. I checked extension cord and it's fine. Then I check the power cord for the printer and the tip has melted. I replaced the power cord and still no power...

27 hour print for my customer ruined and I'm not sure how long this will be down for.

Guys, is it possible to install KlipperScreen on the original Sovol SV08 Max screen?

The thing is, I could buy and install a new screen and connect it to the printer via HDMI and USB, but if I did that, I’d effectively have to throw away the original screen, and I don’t want to do that. So, if anyone knows how to install a Klipper screen on the Sovol SV08 Max, please help. Also—if it matters—I’m currently running the stock firmware, but I’ll be switching it over to Demon Klipper this week.

To be clear this is about the fan on the heatsink if the heatbreak right?

And has anyone experience with a giod fix?

SV08 MAX experience and setup?

Im considering getting an sv08 max as I'd really like a 500x500 printer for some big projects, this seems to be the current only modern one that doesn't cost thousands out there.

I'm wondering if people that have one could tell me their experience, looking online their seems some issues coming up in multiple reviews but alot of the reviews were printers sent pre release or the review was made early release. Common problem like tuning/Profiles, are these more dialed in now? People saying not enough tuning had been done or the profiles are bad, stock speeds and accelerations are not realistic. So I'm wondering if this is mostly fixed now and was mainly new release issues. Obviously I understand some user tuning and profile adjustment is always required but has it got better?

Another common thing i saw a couple times was surface artifacts like vertical banding. Anyone else has this please let me know or even better show me.

If there are any other things that I've missed that you maybe know is a common problem with this printer please do also let me know. Or maybe any particular upgrades that maybe seem vital for good quality and should be considered from the start. I plan on printing large things in ASA so will be getting the enclosed version if i decide to get this printer, so maybe take that into account.

Thanks for any Help!!!

Termistor wire

Hello everyone,

The wire for the thermistor has come loose from the hotend. What could I use to glue it back in place like the one next to it? You can see it in the picture. I'm not sure what adhesive would work, and I'd rather not have to replace the entire hotend if I can avoid it. Sovol SV 08 MAX.

Bad first layers maybe are not your fault. Here’s why

Hello

I got my MAX in September 2025 and since day zero I had inconsistent first layers. Here is my sovol's forum topic from 2025 First layer cumulative X Y error (same pattern on first layer are common problem with MAX owners)

Since than I had days with perfect first layers and days with first layer peeling of or nozzle almost scratching the bed.

I modded my MAX really hard, even with some mods that were crafted entirely by me. Mods that include: custom enclosure, custom feeding system, macros, mainline klipper and new eddy probe.

https://preview.redd.it/xx3nu8fjk9ah1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8db2a3387105cbab5881f0b7cb586de0e6f9d4ea

Long story short the issue is SV08 MAX eddy probe (I suspect that SV08 have the same issues).

This probe have no temperature sensor so no thermal drift calibration which seems to be huge issue with 500^3 build volume. I bought EddyDuo from BTT and created custom PA12 mount for it (with sacrifice of auxiliary fan). The USB cable for BTT eddy have just enough space to fit inside of toolhead.

After 1 day of prototyping mount and 2 days of testing I can confirm that on 250x250, 350x350 and 400x400 you will get perfect first layers.

IF YOU DECIDE TO USE THIS MOD YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO CHANGE CFG FILES!!!
for example you must change max X from 502 to 496

I used eddy (EddyDuo via USB)
I will contact SOVOL about this because, in my opinion, choice to use eddy with no temperature calibration was engineering mistake and people do notice. I saw posts about first layer issues all around the internet.

If someone want to use this mod here is step file (Print it in PA12, and you need 2 M3 inserts)

Inconsistent Layers on my SV08 Max

I dont know what else to do, I am looking for some help I am having issues with inconsistent layers on my sv08 max. I have adjusted printer configs, calibrated my filaments, tightened all everything on my printer, tuned all my belts and reran input shaper calibration but nothing seems to fix it. I included one photo of a small test print I did where the layers turned out perfect and I have noticed with any small sized prints i dont have the issue but if I print anything that takes up and decent amount of print bed space the layers just look bad! If anyone has any suggestions or has had this issue and managed to resolve it please let me know.

Sovol SV08 Max Z Offset

Greetings.

So when i Print some squares as a First Layer Test they are all messed Up with holes and Not connected lines. Lowering the z-offset manually while printing seems to fix this issue but setting it in the printer.cfg or Orca slicer the printer is ignoring it completely.

What am i Missing Here? Never worked with an Eddy before

Sovol SV08 Max - Constant "clog detected" errors and brittle under-extrusion after a real heat sink clog

Hi everyone,

I just got a brand new Sovol SV08 Max. My first Benchy came out great, followed by a single "monster cup" print that was absolutely perfect. After that, I tried printing two cups at once, and that's when things went downhill. I got a nasty clog way up in the heat sink.

I cleaned out the heat sink completely and cleared the extruder gears, but ever since that incident, I cannot get a successful print.

The symptoms:

  • Every time I start a print, I instantly get a "There may be a clog" error message, even though filament flows perfectly smooth when I manually extrude it via the screen.
  • When it actually prints, the extrusion is very poor. The print quality is brittle, crumbling, and looks completely starved of filament (severe under-extrusion).

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Reran the full automated calibration routine from scratch.
  • Lowered the volumetric flow rate from 21 down to 17 $mm^3/s$.
  • Did a flow rate calibration test where -5 looked the best.
  • Ran a temperature tower test: anything below 210°C completely falls apart and refuses to print properly.
  • Cleared another secondary clog in the extruder and restarted, but the "clog detected" warning pops up almost instantly and the print turns out terrible.

If the filament extrudes fine manually but chokes and fails during actual printing speeds, what should I look for? Could the runout/clog sensor be damaged or misaligned after the first heat sink clog, or is my extruder tension messed up?

Any advice on how to fix this would be highly appreciated!
