True Crime/History Audiobook

Just finished a fantasy series and want to listen to a palate-cleanser nonfiction book.

Before the fantasy series, I listened to I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara and absolutely loved it. I have also recently listened to Killers of the Flower Moon and was very into the kind of, sort of small-town mystery that it was. Yes, I’ve read In Cold Blood more times than I can count. In fact, the top ten true crime books that pop up when you google it…I’ve read 7 or 8 of them.

The last non-true crime nonfiction that I read was Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. I really loved that it focused on a bit of history that we all know about, but most people don’t have the interest to delve deeper. I was looking for book about the Black Death, but my library only has them in print.

I also love autobiographies read by the author, but not sure if I’n in the mood to delve into someone’s life.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A particularly heavy box at work

There’s no Fluff flair.

So my office is moving and I’ve been put in charge of shredding all of the 40(!) year old files.

There’s one particularly heavy box, that’s so old it’s absolutely falling apart, that I have to lift off of the floor onto the dolly.

I say to myself, “Ok, Wendy. Straight back, engage the core, lift with the legs, and HEEEEAVE.”

It worked! Just channel your inner Wendy.

Donation of cutlery packs

Alright, guys. I have an odd one for you.

In the process of cleaning out my house, I have amassed a truly crazy amount of those fork/spoon/knife/napkin packs. I don’t get it; we don’t order take out that often.

Are there any shelters/soup kitchens that might be able to use them?

TIA

My Boomer MIL bought my 7yo an iPad.

Begin rant.

We’re trying to reduce his screen time at home. He’s ASD and kind of relies on his tablet as a safe decompress after school.

She randomly called after our last visit and said she had ordered a refurbished iPad for him. I was doing something else, she called my husband, husband put Kid on the phone, and the Awesome Just Because Present was revealed.

I am (somewhat respectfully) livid. Less parental control. We now have to pay for cell service so he can use it in the car (he’s obsessed with Google Maps…another problem because I’m trying to teach him paper maps). Just…so much more mental load than I need right now.

I would say “end rant”, but I’m going to be angry about this for *months*.
