For the new cadets asking questions
Fitness:No you don't have to be insanely physically fit to join, it's a high school program, you exercise less than p.e unless you have overly strict instructors.
Teams:no, you lost likely don't have to join a team, just try to remain active in the program(this includes out of program teams, theyre all optional and don't determine much.
Hair: no guys and gals, we don't have to be bald, in fact most units don't uphold hair standards and I honestly hate that, try to be the cadet that's properly in uniform for males: Id recommend a midskin-highskin fade with finger length on top(size of the barbers finger laying flat on your head) and make sure it's off your ears
Female hair:Bun is generally the go to in all branches, I'm not sure about any non army regs, but I know ajrotc woman can wear ponytails.
Uniform regulations:it doesn't matter "what my unit does" there are regulations, read them, theyll guide you on your uniform wear, if someone in your unit is doing something such as for ajrotc:wearing ribbons and medals together.
They are wrong, and don't listen to them, thats not right and hasn't been for years, the manuals will tell you everything about your units service branch.
Such as army:USACC145-2/AR670-1, The former is the go to for cadets, the ladder is for the unanswered questions.
These are probably my 4 most seen things asked by new cadets in close to perfect order
PLEASE wear your uniform in accordance with your service regulations, and not in accordance with "my unit does it different/like this/our own way" that is not right at all and has never been right.
Thanks new guys! Let yourself have fun!
