We get a 1950’s journey to a hidden land. Before the Jurassic Park franchise, the concept of hidden land with dinos was a big deal. In Marvel Comics, the Savage Land uses this idea, and Jack Kirby was exploring this a lot. Sven’s write up says he himself will be on the show tonight. Have you seen it, have you not seen it? I’ll say this one uses the theme of evil mad scientist (as opposed to good mad scientist) manipulating someone. I’ve seen it a couple times on Sven. Have you seen it? Do you like it on its own merit? Are you a Chaney Jr. fan who enjoys this as part of his body of work?

In the John Byrne X-Men Elsewhen hard cover book, there are these two shots of Alphans. No word balloons, no dialog, just a couple of cool drawings.

Sven and the Squad are at San Diego Comic Con right now, and tonight we get The Night Stalker. Not exactly Van Helsing, not exactly Clark Kent, but a vampire chasing journalist stalks the stalker.

If I recall correctly, this ran as a preview before Alpha Issue 1. (I know it would be tough to read in this format, I’m more just sharing that it was a cool promo piece.)

Wes Craven in the director’s chair puts Ray Wise and Adrienne Barbeau into their roles for tonight’s movie.

The many gems in tonight’s film include Ron Howard (between Andy Griffith and Happy Days) and Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon (before he wrote the Svengoolie Stomp).
I have seen this one before, it is a playful romp and reflects the era that it came from.

I was wowed by 1976 King Kong, big gorilla on the big screen. Some movies just work on the full size screen.

Happy 4th of July to all 10.5 thousand members of this group! If only there was a way to take the findings of a mad scientist, and use the powers of invisibility to benefit the people. Sven says in his description, this movie was intended to be a sci-fi thriller and morale booster at the time that it was made.

My dad was like 6 years old when this came out, I don’t think he saw it at the theatre at that age, this is the same year Casablanca came out. He loved movies, including the monsters and Bogart.
