Driving help…

I may be silly for even trying to ask this but im in a difficult situation right now and need help, if i can get any.

Ive failed my road test four times (todays the fourth attempt) and my 5 hour is expiring in September. I can parallel park, three point, observe and turn fine during lessons but on test day, im just throwing money around that point.

I cannot continue booking through school’s anymore since im in manhattan and unemployed, so im burning through savings fast. And I have no friends or family that can help with driving. If i could get some advice so i can drive and pass my road test at an affordable price by September thatd be great.

For extra context, I have tried many schools in the past year and I’ve been testing in cars different to what I’d practice in. I have test anxiety (by the looks of things) so Im losing hope especially with the increasing school prices and the completely different teaching practices being taught to me. Please help thanks.

Why doesn't NYPD and other cops in the city use bikes or horses more?

I'm sure they use bikes, and maybe even horses, from time-to-time, but I can't recall the last time I saw a cop on a bike, and 99% of the time, they have a car nearby, not a bike

Just wondering why, as surely bikes are the superior way to manage most city conflicts? Sure, maybe sometimes they need a car to travel somewhere fast, or store items they can't store on a bike, or block off an area more effectively than a bike would (cough, summer streets), but in my ignorance, I'd estimate 80% of cop activities don't need a car, and could even be a detriment in the sense they're bulky af and cannot move in traffic like a bike can (a car doesn't help you travel fast if there's 1000 selfish drivers who don't want to move over for you!)

And I know some places - like London - use these pretty often. When I lived in London even my non-central, zone 2 flat would have cops on horses occasionally patroling the streets

Psycho neighbour!

Situation: Random neighbour taped a letter to my apt door last night saying “you’re in Harlem bitch! black people are in the building Karen.”

Background: I have never interacted with any of my neighbours in any capacity. I’m never in my apt and work crazy hours and when I am home I’m either working, working out, or sleeping like I don’t do anything else. Idk who would have any incentive to write & tape such a threatening note to my door?? Like I’ve never been more confused in my life

What do I do? Emailed the LL—not much he can do bc there are no cameras in the hallway. Scared this person will continue to harass me / is some freak who has been “observing” me for quite some time now. Most logical solution is to break my lease but idk if I can

MASS FARE EVASION GROUP

We will fill the Babylon line and you can’t stop us all

This will be Long Islands Area 51 raid

We will peacefully refuse to buy/activate tickets

And sit on the train

Edit:

The second we organize as a community we can make the LIRR “free”

They literally can’t write us all a summons

The more people in on this the easier it is

**thanks for the dms

Update: thank you for the support guys, can’t wait to make this official, we have around 70-80 people at the moment. I’m proud of the people

Shower filter that can survive NYC

Started using a shower filter (Wendell Duo) and it changed the game for my skin and hair. But our NYC water clogs the Weddell in just a few days. I can’t afford new filters twice a week.

Most of these Amazon ones look like scams with no proven results or certifications. But the certified ones can’t handle our city’s water.

Any real world recs?

EDIT: please I don’t need anymore “NYC has the best water” propaganda. I’ve heard it all for decades - I’m not debating that. I’m simply stating 2 facts and asking for a simple recommendation.

  1. my skin and hair are better when I’m using filtered shower water in NYC OR when I’m not in NYC. . It’s a fact - not up for debate. It’s dramatically better, you don’t need to gaslight me, I see the difference. My MYC native dermatologist said the same thing and recommended a filter.
  2. This Weddell Duo filter only lasts 2 days in NYC. It lasts months in other cities. Again, a fact. This is a common problem when researching filters - NYC water is particularly hard to filters

Recommendation: a SHOWER (not drinking water) filter that will last in NYC. I do not want lectured on the quality of NYC water - I just want a recommendation.

If you don’t have a recommendation , no need to reply: thanks :)

Are pigeons sitting on my window sill trying to nest or just hanging out?

Probably a dumb question but I just moved here. I’ve noticed I often have 1-2 pigeons hanging out on my AC and window ledge in the mornings. I’ve read about pigeon mites and how that that is obviously something I don’t want. Are these pigeons likely hanging out likely trying to nest and I should be working to scare them away and prevent that or are they just simply sitting there? Any ideas?
