Are houses still being built in cape town and surroundings?

Are houses still being built?

Had a thought this morning... When was the last time you saw a house being built and what area was it?

Not talking about a block of flats or gated communities... Literal houses..

Rent Vs pay a bond

Seems like we need to relocate once again as our landlord mentioned he needs us out by December as he is giving the house to his son (must be nice).

So with that said, me and my fiance are wondering wether it's better to rent Vs buy (pay a bond) and if anyone has any suggestions where to start ..

It's within the cape town/ northern suburbs region but honestly we're open to anywhere within a 50km radius of the CBD.

Do I go to the banks?

Any advice would be appreciated

Regards

What jobs are low-key the ones everyone should be pushing for?

What jobs are low-key the ones everyone should be pushing for?

Long story short, I've hit a point where I'm seriously rethinking my career.

I've been chasing mastery in my trade since I was a kid. I'm 32 now, with 22 years of hands-on experience in automotive body repair, aviation engineering certifications, my own autobody business, and I've dedicated a huge part of my life to becoming as good as I possibly can at what I do.

But the reality is... I'm exhausted, have very little, if any, friends, nothing really to talk about or share experiences with as all I've ever done was work, work to master my trade, work to become the world's best... Constantly too busy working to socialise and honestly it's been like this for most of my life.

I'm working 18-hour days just to cover rent, and expenses then waking up and doing it all over again. I love the craft, but passion doesn't automatically translate into a sustainable life.

I'm engaged now, and that's changed my priorities. I don't want to spend the next 30 years sacrificing my health and family just to stay afloat.

So I'm asking people who might know about careers that don't get talked about much:

What are some low-key jobs or industries that pay well, have decent work-life balance, and don't require spending another 4-6 years getting a degree?

I'm not afraid of hard work. I'm mechanically minded, learn quickly, and have experience leading projects, problem-solving, and working with precision. I'm just looking for something where effort is actually rewarded.

I'd especially love to hear from people who made a similar career change and don't regret it.

What careers are flying under the radar?

What do you guys think, sound advice?

Some of the best advice I've ever received: "Happiness isn't found in the place.. it's found in your perspective.

You can be happy in a bank line and miserable at Disney World...

The attitude you choose determines how the experience unfolds".

The more I live, the more I realize how true that is.

Name one place in South Africa that you think every South African should visit at least once?

Let's see how observant people really are...

Without using Google...

Name one place in South Africa that you think every South African should visit at least once in their lifetime.

It can be a town, beach, mountain, restaurant, or hidden gem.

I'm looking for places I've never heard of.

Telescope rental for proposal 💍

Does anyone know where I could rent a basic telescope from the 27th to the 30th of this month? Or maybe someone would be willing to rent out their own for a few days?

It doesn't need to be anything fancy.. just good enough to keep my girlfriend looking at the stars for a few seconds while I quietly get down on one knee. 🌌💍

I'd really appreciate any recommendations or offers. Cheers
