That might seem like an odd title but I've noticed really really weird things and I am trying to figure out if it is not caring about how the universe works or am I missing something?

In the first episode it sound like like they were about 4 years into a 5 years trip to ProxB which I am assuming is Proxima Centauri B which orbits Proxima Centauri.That means the ship as to be moving somewhere between 75% and 90% of the speed of light. Yet out the window there is parallax from stars. Which even at that speed should be nearly non existent during the few seconds of the shot.

Then a few minutes into episode 6 they are talking about scanning planets, plantoids and moons along their way. .... suggesting these were common. There are no Stars between Earth and Proxima Centauri. It is the closest star. Rogue planets aren't something that you just find regularly along the way. The Comet was one thing... but suggesting there are lots of things to "scan" and even stop at is silly.

So the question is of course... where are they? are they heading to Proxima Centauri or not?

Proxima Centauri B almost certainly can't support life. However given the suggested speed it is the only ProxB in range.

So did the show that is trying to have a "Science" base just go into full on fantasy? Rather than just write the plot element to be something actually believable? (Or not add that issue into the plot at all)

Can we not update or change a review anymore?

I got the new Blink Sync Module a little while ago.. and the thing is garbage. Half the time cameras connected to it just don't work any more. They worked fine with the old sync modules. but the new one literally Stuff happens and I get no notifications. Like three times now a camera that has always worked fine didn't notify me of a car driving on a property. A second camera they passed didn't notify me or send video. A third camera did... a camera that after updating the thumb nails two days later reverted back to an older thumb nail.

This is bad and it is stuff I couldn't have known when I did my first review as when I tested everything it seemed to be working fine.

So I wanted to update the review to reflect the new info and I can't.

EDIT I found a way to do it. I had to click my name in the review to bring up the full review list and then click the vertical dots on the review summary to have an edit option.

So with the World Cup starting I figured I'd get TSN and decided to get the premium crave bundle for the 3 month deal... but... I go to watch shorsey which is supposed to stream in 4k (on my 2gbps down and 140mbps up) on my 4k tv with the Crave App.... but I'm getting 540p

Live TV looks like garbage and shows stream like a Youtube video streaming from a Cottage outhouse on Labour Day weekend.

This feels like a total ripoff. I literally have DVD of 90s TV shows that only got 13 episodes that look better than this.

I have cancelled but I will have to fight with them to get my money back. It is total BS that everything on crave plays at 540p.

I turn on Disney+ 4k UHD HDR no issues. Prime Video 4k UHD HDR no issues. AppleTV 4k UHD HDR no issues, home server full quality no transcoding no issues. My home server can stream to a friend in HD 10,000km away without transcoding.

Crave... 540p everything looks like a bad bootleg of their own content. It is a scam. And they seem to have bots or paid employees saying things like "everything works for me" Bell is one of the scummiest companies in the country.

EDIT.... This is an issue with CRAVE and their AMAZON app. I load an old Roku and it works fine.

This is an issue from apparently November where the Crave app on FireTV's doesn't work right. ...

It was not a Wifi issue. It was not a setting issue. It is Crave put out a bad app and have yet to fix it... nearly 9 months later.

I've been poster mcposterson the last few days I realize.

But I got the Artline TV delivered which of course is a TV without local array dimming but the trade off is that it looks great as a wall mounted art piece with frames...

However I got no frames with mine. And they are like $100+ each.

They also don't come with legs to use as a typical TV at 55"... that is 24 dollars.

I'm still waiting on legs to arrive. I might have mounted it if it had frames... but without them why put holes in the wall.

I'm sure it will be fine as a TV.. I didn't realize my TV was 7 years old but it has worked well but also doesn't have local array so it should still look great. Just sad that the PRIMARY reason to get this (rather than the cheaper one with local array dimming), and is included with a normal purchase, isn't included in a review model.

I did a bunch of vine stuff the last few days and today when ordering a 5 dollar pair of socks I got Payment Revision Required and a payment declined email. It is a Vine item. It has no cost so why is it being sent to my bank?

Also why is it being declined... I'm pretty sure I have at least 0 dollars in my bank.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is Amazon running 0 dollar transactions through the bank? I've put through 14 items in the last 7 days I can't see Amazon being flagged by the bank for that. I've done that volume in the past without issue.

I'm very confused.

I just got told I'm getting a TV with Fire TV. It is very lovely but I have an Echo that I HATE because I never know the time because there is ALWAYS adds I see the time maybe 5 minutes a day. I turn of EVERY add option I can find but still ads.

Is the FireTV going to be the same. Am I going to be watching a movie and it will be interrupted by a Amazon Add? Will this happen if I plug and external Roku into it?

Should I just politely accept and go opps it fell over and broke?

So I saw an item. I thought it was a digital art display. I clicked on it and it sent me to a page that didn't exist. So I ordered.. you know Mystery Item.

but the order summary says it is a 65" QLED Fire TV... I have never seen one in my feed they are usually are gone before I can even load a page. Did I just get something cool?

I have a bunch of Blink Cameras on two properties of Family friends that aren't occupied. We have had a bunch of issues with damage and theft. Blink Cameras seemed like a good option and they have worked really well.

I got an Amazon Echo a couple of years ago as phone notifications didn't always wake anyone up. Since then I haven't missed a notification.

The Echo Spy Wedge though is annoying me.

I've not used Home Assistant before... but I have a bluetooth speaker. A Truenas box.

I assume I can.. but can I easily set Home Assistant on my Truenas, have it connect to alexa and a bluetooth speaker and send voice notifications that way so I don't have a device that does nothing but display adverts and spies on you next to my bed? Or is it a thing I need to set up some time to really learn and tinker a bit.

In my younger days I wouldn't even be asking, but I know these days that I don't enjoy troubleshooting nearly as much as I did 20 years ago. I don't mind a little... but if it is likely going to be a fair amount, I'd prefer to know before I start so I can be mentally prepared and set time aside for it.

I hit Gold beginning of February, and the number of things I have ordered have dropped drastically due to the poor quality of what is around by the time I get to look at Vine.

I apparently I have just forgotten with life stuff to do any reviews in like 2 months and finally found myself in Vine Jail. I did up like 15 reviews tonight so hopefully that will put me back up over 60%. I can pump out some of the rest this weekend.

All apparently because I actually had 5 Items of interest over 24 hours... Apparently I ordered like 6 items in the 6 weeks previous. (down from my high last fall of 2 items a day on average)

Anyone else been in Jail before? How long does it take to get out of it? The threshold is 60% yes?

So the short is... if my boot drive is dead how screwed am I? Having a Jellyfin server and a SMB.

How bad is having 2 Vdevs of different sizes (2 8TB mirrored 2 2TB mirrored) and can the data be merged to just one.

My TrueNAS sever is crashing constantly right now and I'm at a lot there is nothing in the logs. Memtest (if the system will run doesn't show anything) I'm pretty sure it is the boot drive but I don't know with certainty.

This all started when I installed 2 new 8TB drives to replace two previous 2TB everything got fixed but ever since the system has just been in a spiral of reboots. However this seems to mostly happen on the weekends.

At the current moment I literally can't keep it up long enough to check anything.

So the question becomes if I have to reinstall fresh on a new boot drive... how messed up will my Jellyfin, and SMB server be? Is there anyway to save that after the fact.

Question 2... and maybe it is related.

I had 2 vdev mirrored. both with 2TB drives. I upgraded one to 8TB drives (the two I bought were literally the only two I could find in town that weren't stupidly priced, I'm not spending 800 dollars for a 350 dollar drive.) That means I now have 1 vdev with two 8tb drives mirrored and 1 with two 2TB drives... mirrored. I realize this is a mismatch.

So is there anyway to remove the two 2tb drives and have that data move to the 8tb drives so it is just 1 vdev.

I don't want to mess with "guides" until I ask to be sure it is possible as my experience with guides lately has been... awful to say the least. Like adding new drives giving you all the instructions except... shut down apps that are running... It didn't occur to me because I was laser focused on the guide.
