Fern’s new car seat & vet appt.

We got to try out her car seat that can attach to her harness. It went well and it gives me peace of mind that she is safe! Of course we had to bring her new Kong along for the ride.

Vet visit went well. She has gained 5 pounds since her last visit 1 month ago. FINALLY done with her Distemper Parvo series and all that’s left is her Rabies shot in 2 weeks! The vet tech had her arms around Fern on the exam table and was patting her wiggle butt like a baby. ☺️

Fernie is growing up 🥹

This was her shelter intake pic, taken exactly 47 days ago. I can’t believe how much she has grown. Het pink paws are even changing. 🐾

Fernie’s new big girl puppy Kong 😄

Her smaller puppy Kong was starting to look worn, so we went the next size up. Just took it out of the package and she is so excited.

I also got her a lick mat yesterday and she loves it with plain yogurt mixed with mashed banana. I freeze it to make it last longer.

Fern loves to she me her Kong every morning

She adores her Kong and likes to show it to me while I’m eating breakfast. She’s like you can look but don’t touch 🤚🏼

It was like trying to wrangle a wild boar getting this on her and adjusting it 😭 She has 2 final vaccinations at the end of May, so we will use this for her car seat that arrives today, as well as when she can finally start waking in public. I’m trying to get her used to it now.

Also, this is the new washable rug I put in front of the couch from some of your suggestions, so she doesn’t slip.

This was only her 3rd day home from the shelter. She was still on a pain med from spay surgery, so quite groggy. She has grown so much in just over 1 month. Her paws look so big in proportion to her body. 🐾

For the past month I’ve allowed them to see glimpses of each other through barriers (windows, glass doors in my house etc.). Ive also allowed them to smell each other via their toys or blankies. This week is the first time I had them in the same room. Fern wagged her tail and seemed curious but there was no fixation as I’ve had with previous dogs and no growling. She pretty much just wagged her tail and looked away and then I’d praise her like crazy. Margo didn’t seem to give af at all 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 I mean she looked at Fern a bit curious and then just looked away.

How and at what point did you all allow your dogs/puppies and kittens/cats to be around each other, just free? I want to make sure they’re both safe. Any tips and advice are greatly appreciated! 🙏🏼
