A bug or an intended behavior?
I just got the Fi 3+ collar (the initial setup was fantastic BTW - I am genuinely impressed by how unobtrusive and fast I went through the entire activation process).
During the initial test of the LTE tracking I found something that I didn’t expect.
I went for a walk to a local state park where there’s a good mobile connectivity. Once we started the walk and I saw that the app tracks my pup successfully via phone connection, I disconnected Bluetooth on my phone. App took less then two minutes to reconnect via LTE-M and continued tracking my pup thoroughly - so far so good. After maybe another 10-15 minutes, the tracking suddenly stopped. Initially the app still showed that the collar was connected, but it simply stopped transmitting updates and then it said that the collar is trying to connect. I specifically waited for 10+ minutes hoping that it simply went into battery reserve mode and would only retransmit coordinates after a delay, but the app simply stopped tracking the collar. Finally, I enabled the lost mode and within a minute or two it magically re-established connection and showed my pup location again.
So my question is was it an intended app behavior where it just starts saving power after a short while or was it a bug?
Just to make sure I retried the same test again and it behaved the same exact way as the first time - 10-15 minutes of tracking, followed by no updates until I forced lost mode. We walked on a single loop in a park, so I excluded the possibility of walking into some dead zone.
