Here is your Blue Falcon!!

They posted on this sub a few days ago about VA disability and posted a few times before. They act like a Veteran posting on Veteran subs then do this, right after.

* Now they post every day on r/Salary complaining about VA disability.

I just wanted you to know who they are.

Pensacola Metro Growth is on pace to reach 600k total by 2035, not 2050.

The Pensacola metropolitan statistical area (MSA), officially the Pensacola–Ferry Pass–Brent, FL MSA covering Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, has a population of approximately 543,000 to 545,000 residents. The region has grown roughly 14% since 2015 and expanded by over 5.6% since the 2020 Census, driven heavily by regional in-migration. [1, 2, 3]

Growth Breakdown

  • Total Metro Population: ~543,000+ residents.
  • Covered Counties: Escambia and Santa Rosa.
  • Growth Rate: Roughly 0.8% to 1% annually.
  • Future Projections: Expected to approach 600,000 residents by 2035.

Now you might ask why? The real reason is retirees and especially military retirees are moving here because they are priced out of the rest of Florida.

We may think it is overpriced here and it is based on the average median income but these retirees have pensions way above the average median income here. So what they would pay for a average home here is still 40% less then the same one in Tampa and other areas of Florida (NOT NWFL).

* This growth is not being noticed by the State of Florida so the local road infrastructure is lagging way behind because of funding. This also falls on local leadership and state reps for not making the case for more road funding.

* At least we got a Costco finally!! I despised every minute driving to Mobile.

Gen Z, you take ownership of this guy!

These Vets are the worst! Just showboating and bragging to everyone.

They should investigate Veterans who do this for fraud. I bet they will find plenty of it.

* The ones who a truly disabled don't go on X bragging about it.

I say that because when they brag about stuff like this it's way of them expressing that they got one over on the government.

* I am not going to write an essay about how this looks to the public or others in Congress because we are past that. This should be obvious by now.

Beulah Interchange Project

I included images of the approved design of the interchange.

* Also, you can sign up to the meeting on July 28th. You can go to nwflroads.com (FDOT) and go to projects under Escambia County.

Construction starts 2027 with a completion date of 2030.

Side note: Ironically that section of I-10 will be 6 lanes but not the section between 9 mile and 29, 😆. Go figure!!

July 4th Firework Show! Pensacola!

For those visiting or new to the area, the Pensacola firework show is the largest show from New Orleans to Tampa.

The show is actually held in 2 locations.

The Pensacola Bay Firework Display and Pensacola Beach Display over Quitewater (Sound Side). These shows are exactly the same and both are choreographed on 98.7 Cat Country. Both of these shows start exactly at 9pm.

If you plan on attending Pensacola Bay show. Get there early because Bayfront Pkwy closes at 5pm to all traffic. If you plan on parking downtown park outside the core and walk. You will thank me later when the show is over.

If you plan on attending Pensacola Beach Show. The rule of thumb is parking will be a mitigated disaster so unless you get there by 6am. Might as well just watch the show downtown.

Stay safe, DRINK WATER with your beer or just drink Bush. It will be hot and probably no wind like every 4th of July.

* You can (actually) see both shows from Bayfront Pkwy.

Who is ready for more roadworks? Beulah?

The Beulah Interchange is officially funded. It was signed today.

So, if you live in Beulah, time to get ready.

They are going to 4 lane Beulah Rd north of alt 90, as well.

Expect construction to start early 2027 and run through 2050. (Jk) But expect a long time like other projects.

SSA COLA is forecasted to be around 4.7% (as of right now) so what does that mean for VA disability?

It means we are looking at a possible 4.7% COLA. If it was set as of today.

By law VA is required to match the COLA of SSA.

It could still go higher as it is set mid-October.

* It is very possible COLA 2027 will double 2026.

Types of ID cards, as a Veteran, you "might" qualify for.

I have been reading comments on certain posts. I feel like Veterans are missing out on ID's they qualify for.

I have included the 4 types of ID's certain Veterans can get after leave service. (One of the ID card does have restrictions.)

  1. VHIC (Health ID card)

This card every Veteran can get by simply registering with the VA for Healthcare. Even if you don't plan on using it, you should always sign up for it. You never know, especially if you plan on filing future claims.

  1. VID (Basic ID for proof of service)

This is an ID to prove your military service which you can get online through the VA. If you plan on never using the VA, then at least get this.

  1. DOD ID card

This one is missed by a lot of Veterans who get awarded 100% P/T or TDIU P/T.

This one is a must have if you qualify for it.

I have included instructions on how to get it by screenshot of image.

This ID can be used as a govt issued ID for airport/ I-9 / and so on along with base access to shared services on base like bowling alley and so on.

* It will have your DOD number on the back, that can be used I-9 purposes.

  1. State issued Veteran's card.

This varies by state but usually you can get a notation on your DL instead of getting a separate ID.

I hope this helps. I included images of all r of these that have instructions.

Now go get what apllies to you.

* Remember if you plan on using VA to pay for emergency Hospital bills you will need a VHIC. So that is why that is important, just in case you don't like getting govt IDs.

FDOT and the local TPO we have bigger roads needs. Why was our focus on this?

Those two roads have always been one way in each in direction for a very long time. Why is this even a top 10 priority? I mean you had it funded and all you needed was 6 mil from Pensacola to match.

So we fund that FDOT but what about these:

* When Pine Forest north of I-10 needs another lane.

* When I-10 should be 6 laned past US 90 alt exit, like you promised in 2022, FDOT. When the state passed the Moving Florida Forward Act and this road project was included.

* How about Blue Angel being a 4 lane divded hwy? The fact that it is a primary hurricane evacuation route this should have been done after Ivan, back in 2004.

* How about Gulf beach hwy, 4 lane? The road that backs up to Fairfield dr. every morning during school year from the light at Navy.

* How about Sorento Rd? The road with potholes and poor lighting with no shoulders?

* How about repaving Davis Hwy around I-10 the asphalt ruts are dangerous during rain storms as it fills with water..

But apparently our focus has been on making those two roads multi directional instead of one way. Even though they have been one way since Davis Hwy was built north of the city back in the mid 50s. .

West Marine declared Bankruptcy

This flew under the radar.

I included the stores that will be closed according to the Bankruptcy filing. 53 total

This is related to Pensacola because we have a store located here.

* Pensacola store does not look to be included but if you work there, I would be getting prepared.

* There will be signs!

What this Bankruptcy shows is disposable income is getting harder to find and first to go is expensive activities. (Like maintaining and operating a boat.)

Back in time! Who remembers the Ozone alerts?

For those who are new to the area, back in 1999 early 2000's Pensacola had the states worst ozone pollution.

It was so bad here, living next to Oil Refineries in Louisiana had cleaner air.

We had constant Ozone alert warnings. It would be blasted on those Construction Signs that display messages, on every street. Schools wouldn't let the kids play outside.

Who remembers finding soot all over your cars?

Mine was always covered in a light ash, especially during the summer.

It took the State of Florida years to figure out why. Why was the air in Pensacola so polluted.

Well...

It turned out to be the Crist Plant (Gulf Power Power Plant in Cantonment).

In case you didn't know! Mayoral Election coming up Aug 18th!

For those who may not know or new residents July 20th is the last day to register to be able to vote in the Mayoral Election Primary on August 18th.

* I am not going over candidates, this post is simply a reminder to get out and vote! (I will let the comments handle that.)

** Just some insight on city politics the Mayor is partisan but can be affiliated with any party.

Basically, means when you see the Mayor on TV it will not mention Republican or Democrat or Independent.

*** The Pensacola Mayoral election process is simple, if no one wins a majority on primary day Aug 18th. Then a run off will happen on November 3rd with the top two vote leaders to determine the Mayor.

Very short-sighted!

Do you support (across the board) massive tax cuts to property taxes?

* If you rent this does not mean the landlords will pass on the savings to you!

I personally feel that across the board property tax cut is very shortsighted.

Libraries/ Schools/ Parks will be first to go when Counties/ Cities can not afford to keep them up and or open.

Now I do believe some cities/ counties do take advantage of this by having higher then usual property mill taxes on citizens. But the answer is not to cut everything.

You could be smart about this and cap property taxes statewide to prevent certain localities from fleecing citizens and not punish everyone.

Also, you can remove property taxes from anyone older then 62, that owns property. This would help the retired population and or the older / elderly population.

* I am a home owner and do not have kids but I understand the value my property taxes pay for. I do not believe a massive cut like this (across everything) is beneficial to anyone.

Again, you could remove them from anyone older then 62 / force localities with very high property mills to do with less with a state cap. This would not handicap localities into a financial hole that will hurt everyone in some way.

** Just a shame this state is forcing localities to choose between libraries/ parks/ schools or Public safety. This is exactly what will happen when you do something like this and do not think it through.

4th fire in 3 years!!

This is the 4th (MAJOR) fire in 3 years! (since 2023)

When is the City of Pensacola going to crackdown on this facility?

(It is in the City Limits)

This is a safety issue and environmental concern for the surrounding communities.

It is also a county problem as well because those fires are toxic and the plume of smoke from all these fires spreads miles away from it.

* On a personal level, I would prefer that facility to be closed down.

If they can't prevent these toxic fires then they do not need to be operating a recycle business in the heart of multiple neighborhoods.

u/Muted_Masterpiece535 — 3 months ago

4th fire in 4 years!

This is the 4th (MAJOR) fire since 2023.

When is the city going to crack down on this facility?

** I would go as far as "after this latest fire" that it is time code enforcement look into closing this facility down, on environmental concerns.

I concur! We need restrooms at Veteran's Park downtown.

The City should fast track design and building of restrooms of Veteran's Memorial Park.

It is one of the most visted parks in the City with the Vitenam War memorial wall of the south. I do understand a Foundation does operate the park and it's upkeep but it is in the City limits and a huge benefit for the City.

So, the City should take the initiative to go ahead and fund these restrooms. It has been 10 years since it was last proposed. * Ten years!!!!

You can do exactly like what you did at Bruce Beach with the Portland Loos! If you can spend 10 million on a new street then what is 500k or so for a Portland Loo at one of your most visted Parks!

GET IT DONE!
