Maybe not the right place for this

I just want to know how much pain is one person supposed to have to take in life?

I don't even know where to start. When I found out my wife cheated on me, I was working two jobs. I slept in the van that she cheated on me in between jobs because I didn't have time to come home some days. And I still made time for dates. I went to awards ceremonies for the kids at school. I helped around the house. I was a good husband. I was a good father. And after I found out I couldn't leave because if I did we would have all been homeless. We couldn't afford to live apart so I had to stay. Since then I've had two back surgeries. The day I got home from one of the back surgeries we got a letter that said our landlord was selling our house. We had 90 days to move. I had just been in the hospital for 12 days. I ended up buying a goddamn house. I've never bought a house in my life. I never thought I'd be able to and I made that shit work. I got hit by a fucking car on the interstate trying to remove some large pieces of tire from the road. I couldn't sue the lady because we have something called contributory negligence in my state. I didn't get workers comp because I wasn't doing my actual job at the time. The doctor that did both surgeries on my leg didn't want me to walk on it for 90 days. I had to be back at work in 90 days because all I got was FMLA and I was back at work in 90 days. And now because of course we have fucking money problems because we always have fucking money problems because it doesn't matter how hard I work. I can't seem to fucking win. It's like the harder I try the more shit gets fucked up. And I'm fucking done. I'm tired of fucking being reliable. I'm tired of taking care of everything. I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this shit. I just needed to vent. I don't know if this shit makes any sense. I just I didn't know where else to say it.

How the hell do adults make friends anymore?

I'm 43/M and realizing I have no idea how adults are supposed to make friends in real life.

I'm in the High Point/Greensboro area and would like to meet some people outside of work and family. I'm not looking for dating, just actual friends and people to hang out with.

My weekday schedule is pretty brutal between work, wife, and kids, so weekends are usually my best option. I don't drink, but otherwise I'm pretty open to trying new things — groups, hobbies, volunteering, events, whatever.

Feels a little weird asking Reddit how to make friends at 43, but I'd genuinely appreciate any suggestions.

Volunteering Opportunities

Hey l'm just looking for recommendations for places could volunteer on weekends. like helping people and I'm trying to build some kind of social life outside of work. Turns out it's incredibly hard to make friends as an adult lol. I posted this in r/gso but I actually live in High Point so something closer would be great.
