Why am I taking things so personally?
Just need to get this off my chest and hopefully get some helpful advice on how to navigate.
My two friends and I make a podcast about video games and pop culture. We talk about new video game news, what we're currently playing, what we're watching, etc. One of my friends who does this with me is upfront with his opinions and feelings, which doesn't bother me for the most part unless it is about something I really enjoy. For example, we recorded today and the topic of the video game Fallout came up, which I am a huge fan of. He proceeded to talk about the turmoiled development of the games with how buggy they are and also discussed their terrible marketing, which are two points I agree on. However, I cant help but to feel as if it was a personal attack on me because it is something I really care about. When we was discussing it as we recorded, I just completely stopped talking and was getting very upset by it.
How do we not let things like this impact us so greatly? Does anyone have any helpful tips?
Getting through a BPD spiral
Dinner is two turkey sandwiches 🥪
I am coming off of a BPD(Borderline personality disorder)spiral and just wanted to vent.
I've been in the middle of a BPD spiral for about a week. Tl;dr you are very mean to yourself and it feels near impossible to find the positivity in life. Also, with BPD, you struggle to be able to vent about life and such so here I am looking for validation and kindness from absolute strangers on the Internet.
I am a 39 year old male. Last year I was diagnosed with BPD and Autism, at the time I was happy to have an official diagnosis for what was "wrong" with me, however I feel as time has passed, it has actually made me feel worse.
Time skip to last month, my company laid off a 1/6th of its workforce due to budget. I was luckily not impacted however, leadership is now shoving AI down our throats even more to keep up with work and such. This was the straw that broke the camels back and caused me to spiral with everything hard in my life; feeling uncertain with financial future, feeling like a bad friend, feeling like a bad son, feeling as if I have no one to rely on, feeling that I am unlovable, etc.
On top of that, I no longer am enjoying one of my favorite hobbies; video games. I've been a gamer my whole life and I cannot bring myself to play anything, and if I do, it isn't long before I stop.
Just feel like I am living life constantly on hard mode and just need to feel something, be shown there is more, to get to that "this too shall pass" mentality.
