Looking to get a golf R soon but also considering gti
Hi everyone. Recently I have been looking at getting a manual car that is more fun than what I have currently (just a regular car) and I’ve always heard good things about the gti and r platform. Anyways, I have been searching for mk7 gti’s and so far haven’t found anything that looks too good, because they either have super high miles or they are priced too high, and not to mention Ive been hoping to pick up one with the lsd and that is making the search even harder of course. I know the dsg in these cars is amazing but I am dead set on a 6 speed manual.
Anyway the point of me making this post was to ask a few questions and also see what everyone thought of this R I came across.
I stumbled across a manual, 2016 R with just over 100k miles and they are asking like 17k or something. I think they could maybe go 1 or 2k lower but debatable. Overall the car looks really clean, un modded, clean exterior and interior and seems like the service has been done on time? Does this sound like a good deal to you guys? Im located in socal so I feel like I’ve rarely seen these things go below 20k without having even more miles.
Only thing I’m not sure of is potential insurance costs, I’m going to call soon and ask, but maybe if anyone can speak to that it would be cool to get a few data points, I’m not sure if these are generally way more to insure than the gtis or not.
Thinking about getting a third card but not sure if I should get cashback or points.
Hi all. I currently am going to be spending alot of money on gas this summer for a job that I got. I do not have a card that gets me much rewards for gas at the moment, but I think it will be beneficial to me. I almost applied for the Citi Custom Cash but I realized while that has 5% back on gas, I have some ideas to travel sometime within the next year or two and I don't know if I'd be served better by some kind of travel card. Or if I should start getting into travel cards because currently I only have cash back cards.
CREDIT PROFILE
- Currently I have a Discover it (my first card), and a Wells Fargo Active Cash
- My Fico is pretty high like 760 or something
- Oldest card is nearly 3 years old.
- Only applied for one card in the past year/ 2 years which was the active cash
- My annual income is pretty low as a student, probably 20k.
- Prefer no annual fees because of relatively low spending at the moment
CATEGORIES
- I dont have a great grasp on what my monthly spending is because its pretty low but I use the discover it for the rotating categories and then use the active cash when I can't get 5% with the Discover.
MEMBERSHIPS & SUBSCRIPTIONS (delete lines that don't apply)
- I am a member of chase, for banking.
- No subscriptions
PURPOSE
- My purpose of my next card would be either to start gaining points for future travels (not really sure what to do here because I have heard good things about chase but also citi, and capital one so idk)
- But mainly my purpose for getting another card would be to get good rewards on the gas I will need to buy this summer, but I was wondering if a good way to do this could be through getting travel points (which might benefit me in the future). I mean if I can functionally get more out of the cash back that is what I will do, but if the amount I can earn per dollar is going to be "worth more" by getting points, I'd rather do that because I do plan to travel soonish.
