Railgun Appreciation Post

When I first started off and unlocked the Railgun, I tried it out exactly 1 time, and had not touched it since. Then I saw a post a few days ago where someone listed out all of the things that it is able to 1-2 shot, and I decided to try it out again, specifically on the bot front. The first time I tried it out, I had no idea that you could change it to "Unsafe" mode. This time though, I came fully informed and prepared to dole out Managed Democracy!!

Let me just say, in Unsafe mode, that thing is an absolute BEAST!! It has now become my favorite support stratagem for the bot front! I used to rely on thermite grenades to handle Hulks, but this thing 1-shots them to the face, has a fast reload, and comes with 20 rounds (yes, 20!!). Definitely a game-changer, for me! Even 1-shots those AA turrets and mortar emplacements at bases. Quickly deletes War Striders (2 shots, if I remember correctly).

Just a very democratic blessing on the battlefield, and I wanted to show it some love!! I bring it with my pretty much every time now, and haven't gone back to the Quasar Cannon or RR yet, as I just don't feel the need to. If only it could 1-shot drop ships...

Just make sure you don't overcharge it when in Unsafe mode, because the results are... less democratic

Support Weapon Idea: Cryo Cannon

So, we have multiple weapons that have heat buildup, but I have not seen any sort of ice/cryo/freeze weapon yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong though, as I don't have everything from the warbonds.

I would love to see some sort of cryo-weapon. Either a continuous cryo beam similar to the Laser Cannon, or maybe a projectile weapon with an AoE freeze effect. The freeze would do a small amount of damage itself, but the main draw would be that it would freeze enemies in place for a short period (maybe a longer period on frozen planets with extreme cold, and a shorter period on extreme heat planets), giving us divers a few seconds to reload or reposition. Obviously wouldn't be ideal for heavies and elites, but would be fantastic for dealing with chaff.

DSS Modifiers

Have they ever mixed up the DSS modifiers, or do you think they will in the future?

In the 5-ish weeks I've been playing, I only remember ever seeing the 380 barrage, eagle strafing run and the HSO booster (not counting exo suit cooldown reduction), but I would love to see different boosters/stratagems included in the DSS modifiers. It would be fun to see random orbital lasers, gatling barrages or sentry turrets dropping down periodically!

Newer diver question about Galactic War

As I've mentioned before, I have only been playing around 5 weeks now, and I am curious about the Galactic War map.

The whole time I have been playing, it looks like it has been the same sectors that have been active, for the most part. Has there been any point in this game's history, where the war front was actually in those sectors that are right there next to SE, or even fighting on SE itself? If so, do you guys think we will ever have fighting near/on SE again in the future? I'd love to see what SE actually looks like down on the surface! Or even just fighting and defending the planets close to SE, so the war effort actually feels like it has something on the line.

Also, I saw a comment recently that mentioned something about super destroyed fighting. Was that actually a thing?! That sounds dope!! How did that work? Did you actually get to pilot the ship? As with the first question about the sectors, do you guys think we will ever see super destroyer fighting again, if it was actually a thing?

I feel like I missed so much cool stuff, having only started playing recently. It sounds like there have been some really cool fights along the way...

Why do I keep getting jumped? A visual guide to spawn mechanics

https://preview.redd.it/y2txswsej60h1.png?width=975&format=png&auto=webp&s=fb135a0a034fbf3b67d5d5cecdacebe64fc74521

Recently I've seen a lot of posts about terminds and their funny habit of jumping helldivers the moment their back is turned. My goal with this post is to help divers understand their enemy, stay alive, and clear up misconceptions about enemy patrols.

All of the information in this post is taken from the Helldivers wiki on spawn mechanics. It may be slightly out of date, but at its core its solid info. This post will mainly cover the question: Where in the hell do patrols come from? which is covered in part 2 of the spawn mechanic wiki, I recommend reading the full article for yourselves to get a full understanding of spawn mechanics.

The Safety bubble

the safety bubble

First things first. Players have a 75~85 meter "safety bubble" around them at all times. No enemy patrols will spawn for that specific player within the safety bubble. Outside that safety bubble, between 85m and 140m, is where all enemy patrols will spawn. These patrols will then head in the direction the player was located at the moment they were spawned. These patrols do not know where the player is, there path just takes them through the location of the player at spawn. ^(It should be noted that there are edge cases where a patrol may spawn within 85m of the player. For more info on how that can happen, read) ^(part 1.9 of the wiki)

Where do patrols come from?

spawn direction

Alright, now we know where patrols can spawn, but I can hear you asking yourself, "What direction are they coming from?"

Patrols will always come from the direction of an outpost. The bad news is that the outpost selected for the patrol spawn is random. The good news is that, because you know the outpost selected is random, you can play around that fact. By keeping as many outposts as possible in the same direction relative to your character, you can create a much higher chance that the patrol will come from that direction

Alright I Lied

Do you remember when I said patrols will always come from the direction of an outpost? Well, I lied... sort of.

the exception

If your safety bubble overlaps with the center of an outpost, then the spawn direction does a 180. In this case, all enemy patrols will spawn from the exact opposite direction of the outpost.

What if there are no more outposts?

edge spawns

Based on the info I've given you, the moment you destroy the last outpost, there should be no more patrols spawning, right? Not quite. When there are no more outpost patrols spawn from the closest edge of the map to you.

preventing new spawns

You can prevent new patrol spawns by placing your safety bubble over the edge of the map. This can be useful for getting to extract safely. Hugging the edge of the map once there are no outposts left is a good way to keep yourself safe from jumpings.

One last thing, everything I've told you about spawns happens for every player that is over 75m apart. If you want to know why, you'll need to read the wiki

Orbital Stratagem Idea: Orbital Gas Stim

Had the idea for a new orbital stratagem last night. Basically a cracked out version of the stim pistol. Call it in, and it pops a cloud of stim gas, which heals and possibly increases either movement speed or damage resistance for a short period of time. AoE size similar to orbital gas strike. Cooldown around 120-180 seconds. Could come in really handy when the squad is working on an objective and finds themselves in a bit of a pickle.

New AH Q&A

I saw this Q&A transcript when I was browsing HD2 news this morning, and thought I would share it here. Definitely an interesting read! I am at work at the moment, but I will share my thoughts a little later when I have time to do more than a skim through. Link to the original article at the bottom. Let's hear your thoughts!

Official Post

"To our Dedicated Citizens of Super Earth,

We’ve been following your feedback over the past few days and seeing the conversations across the Helldivers 2 community.

Helldivers 2 matters to all of us, and we want to be clearer about what we’re working on and what’s coming next.

Alongside new content, we’re focused on improving the core of the game – stability, progression, and the Galactic War.

Below, we’ve pulled together answers to some of the questions we’re seeing across Reddit, Discord, and X. We’ll keep sharing more as we go.

What is the team focusing on right now? What are their current priorities?

Right now, a major focus for the team is improving meta-progression and the Galactic War.

We’ve significantly expanded the team working in this area, reflecting how important these long-term systems are for the overall player experience.

The goal is to deliver deeper progression and a more engaging Galactic War, with features like:

  • More meaningful rewards and community progression systems
  • Evolving Major Orders into longer, multi-week themed “Campaigns”
  • Branching outcomes that create clearer stakes and consequences based on player actions

You’ll start to see the first results of this work this summer.

In multiple updates there have been hidden changes to weapons or enemies. Why were they not announced in patch notes?

We want our patch notes to be as clear and complete as possible, to the level of detail that matters to our players.

In some cases, changes have not been communicated with the clarity we intend, and we are continuing to improve our internal process so patch notes more accurately reflect gameplay adjustments.

We are also working on how we explain balance updates more clearly, especially when a change can have effects across multiple weapons, enemies, and gameplay systems.

Will we get more frequent updates about the game?

Yes — improving how regularly and clearly we communicate is a priority for us.

We’re moving toward more consistent communication updates, with deeper conversations happening more often.

In the near term, the conversations will be focusing on the biggest issues we’re seeing from players, including:

  • Tech and performance improvements
  • The vision for game balance moving forward
  • Player progression and the broader player experience within the Galactic War

Alongside this, we’ll be more transparent about community feedback – including what we’re seeing, what we’re prioritising, and what actions we’re taking. You’ll start to see this reflected more clearly in patch notes and other updates.

What quality of life upgrades and changes will we see for the Galactic War? Maybe variation in reward types, like when we used to get stratagems as rewards. Will we do more community-driven events with rewards like that?

Good news — updates to the Galactic War and its rewards are coming this summer.

We’ve seen the feedback around rewards, and we want them to feel more distinctive, more meaningful, and more worthy of the battles you’re fighting.

This includes adding greater variety to rewards and bringing back more of the excitement players have called out – including things like stratagem unlocks and more community-driven moments.

We also want the Galactic War itself to feel more reactive to player actions, with events and outcomes that carry more weight.

We will be sharing more details soon on how this connects to progression, balance, and the overall experience.

Will you ever have public beta testing? What is your beta testing process like now?

Yes – expanding how we test updates with players is a priority for us.

We’re exploring having more closed and public beta testing, with the goal of getting broader feedback, especially for balance changes, before they go live.

One of the challenges is finding the right balance between testing changes openly and not spoiling upcoming content or narrative elements tied to the Galactic War.

Today, we run closed playtests that cover both new content and balance changes, as well as wider internal studio playtests. Going forward, we’re looking at ways to separate these out so we can test balance more openly where it makes sense.

Overall, our goal is to expand the footprint of our testing programs and bring more of the community into that process over time.

Why did you put exosuits in the Exo Experts warbond? Does this mean we won’t get an exosuit for free ever again?

The goal with the Exo Experts Warbond was to create something that felt thematically strong and exciting, with exosuits as a core part of that fantasy.

That said, we’ve seen the feedback around how that landed – especially when it comes to expectations around how players unlock major gameplay items like exosuits.

More broadly, we want to strike the right balance between what’s included in Warbonds and what’s available through gameplay, so that rewards feel both exciting and fair.

And to be clear – yes, you will be getting other vehicles through gameplay in the future.

When will we get new red stratagems and ship modules?

We’ve got teams actively working on both new red stratagems, evolving ships, and player progression to level 150… and beyond!

Our goal is to expand these areas in ways that add meaningful new options and support different playstyles, rather than just adding more for the sake of it.

We’ll be sharing more details as these get closer to release.

Salutes to all our divers,

Arrowhead"

LAS-80 Mini Quasar This sniper rifle is a primary weapon inspired by the quasar cannon. It has the same firepower as an APW1 anti-materiel weapon but has some drawbacks: a one-second charge time before firing and a two-second cooldown. However, it does have unlimited ammunition.

Stratagem idea: Sonic Wave Device

I'm probably not the first person to think of this, but it would be dope to have a stratagem that uses a sonic wave to push back the enemies within its cone of influence! Something like a 25°-30° cone. My idea was having it as a backpack stratagem with a cooldown time in line with the other backpacks. Instead of ammo, it could function similar to the weapons that have heat buildup. If you find yourself overwhelmed (looking at you, bugs!!), you can pull that bad boy out, and push back a small group of enemies maybe 30-40m, while slightly damaging them or causing disorientation for a brief period of time. I feel like this could be INCREDIBLY useful in this game!

What is the use for the control panels that are directly across from the armory? I know the Stratagem Hero is part of the Super Citizen dealio, but I'm almost level 50 and still haven't figured out what those other panels are for. I don't see any ship upgrades that seem like they will utilize them, so I have no idea. Was it something in the past that is no longer used?

Mine is most definitely the damn caves on bug worlds. I hate being underground in this game!! I'm still fairly new, so I need to be able to call in my stratagems, man! I don't like the strat jammers either, but those are easy enough to deal with. I always seem to just be cannon fodder when I have to go into the caves though. I end up getting completely surrounded and they just ctrl+alt+delete me.

Hello Helldivers!

I am looking for tips on the achievement/trophy where you have to "Be injured in all limbs at the same time". I've had both arms or both legs broken at the same time, but my health is so low at that point, I don't see how I can get the other 2 limbs injured as well, prior to healing. Is there a trick to this one, or kinda just luck? I only have 4 more achievements to get, and this one is confusing me. Any tips are very much appreciated!!

While we're here, I also need the achievement for killing a Charger with a resupply pod. I've tried a few times, but the drop time is so long, I haven't been able to actually pop one with the Hellpod yet. Has anyone figured out an easy-ish way to knock that one out?

Hello there, fellow Helldivers! I'm Nafinchin, your friendly, neighborhood Helldiver! Just wanted to say a quick hello, and introduce myself as one of the new mods here. I'm a chill dude, and am just here to assist in upholding the rules, taking part in conversation about the glorious spread of democracy across the galaxy, and general just have a good time!

I'm a fairly new diver, with just under a month on the battlefront, but I got addicted from my first dive, already have well over 100 hours in-game, and have been having an absolute blast!! This game is a breath of fresh air for me. Flawed? Of course, as are all things, but bringing the pain to the bugs, clankers and squids is my new favorite activity!

I look forward to interacting with you all, and possibly diving into the meat grinder with you! Let's make this the biggest HD2 sub on here! FOR DEMOCRACY!!! o7

How would you guys feel about having a bot-specific stratagem that allows you to temporarily (or just until it dies) convert a bot to a friendly? I'm still new around here, but I did a quick search and didn't see it mentioned in the posts I checked, but my thought was:

  • Support stratagem that you can call in, which gives you a limited number of uses, maybe 2 or 3 per mission (similar to orb laser)
  • Handheld device that, when thrown and sticks to an enemy, temporarily "hacks" the bot and turns it friendly
  • Primarily for use against Factory Striders and War Striders and the other big guys, but could theoretically be used on any bots, even the gunships if they get low enough
  • Similar to thermite grenades, where it has a short delay after sticking, before the enemy turns friendly (maybe have it actually drill into the body of the bot during this delay, to "access" the internal hardware?)
  • Only usable on the main body/head of the bots, and doesn't work when stuck to arms/legs/tracks

There could obviously be faction-specific strats for bugs and squids too, but my idea is bot-specific. Might be an option for some endgame content? Idk..

Also, I'm still new and figuring out the game, so please don't flame me if this is an incredibly stupid idea! Any takers though?
