Cute octopus videos are a psyop by big vegan

It is a cute octopus to no meat pipeline.

First, you start with the average human who knows that grilled pulpo is absolutely delicious.

But then you see all those cute octopus videos, especially the ones where they interact with humans with captions like "This tiny octopus gets so excited when his diver friend comes to visit him" and realize they are super smart. And you swear off eating the delicious pulpo because you cannot morally justify it to yourself. The one at the San Diego aquarium dances to salsa with his aquarium keeper.

But then what about pigs? They are smart. And if you don't eat octopus what is the line between them and pigs? WHERE DOES IT END?

WWTBC: FMC has powerful magic, but hides with untouchable outcasts

This book is from 5-10 years ago I think.

What I remember is that the FMC lives with a group that is untouchable/outcasts and they travel around the country - I think collecting bodies from a plague (?). The group wears clothes that hide identifies like black and hooded (I think). ETA: I think her body has markings like tattoos that would tell people she has magic but they are hidden by the clothes the outcasts have to wear.

For reasons I can't remember she has to reveal her powerful magic.

Anyone have any idea?

Do book boyfriends exist?

Not the toxic ”I’ll murder anyone that looks at you“ kind, but the thoughtful, honest, kind, partner?

I see sooooo many things about toxic relationships, how bad the dating world has become, and all the other things I’m sure women are way to familiar with.

I just wonder, do those guys even exist?

- please forgive me if this types of posts are not allowed here. I’ve made the account just for this.

Similar OTT revenge + betrayal plot to "Live Happily Ever After With My Ex's Uncle" by Crown

Looking for an unapologetically ridiculous and dramatic revenge/betrayal read where a man (preferably an inappropriate one, like her ex's uncle) helps save the day. And is sexy. And they rub it in her ex's face. *Trying to avoid the OTT misery in most manhua, this one was like my max misery I can tolerate. I want the narrative focus to be weighted towards winning/crushing the revenge*

Summary of Live Happily Ever After with my Ex's Uncle: "Sylvia's past life was full of misery. She had taken the fall and served a prison sentence in order to marry her boyfriend, only to be cruelly betrayed by him and her sister upon her release. Now back in the past before all hell broke loose, she is determined to rectify all that went wrong. However, things aren’t so easy, and she lands herself in trouble… only to have a miracle come her way in the form of Tristan, her ex’s uncle. With Tristan by her side, she finds her chance to change everything for the better." (Also they have excellent chemistry)

Open to web comic or a light novel or a western book.

Although the original work I reference involves going back in time - time travel/isekai/past memories/whatever is not necessary.

Open to any genre, would love a western book, but also open to light novels or manwha/manhua/manga/web comics.

Anyone else struggling with Amazon 'forgetting' you read something?

For a few months, I have noticed that Amazon doesn't show when I have read a title before, especially when it was previously available on KU (but is no longer).

It used to show in small text - what is the deal? I keep seeing on goodreads that I logged reading a book, but on amazon there is no history. Is this because of authors re-releasing versions or what?

Women's summer clothes this year are all sleeveless because manufacturers are trying to cut costs

It isn't fashion, it's capitalism trying to squeeze every last dollar out of things.

There is no reason why so many things are sleeveless unless you are avoiding the assembly cost of adding a sleeve.

What caused your NLOG syndrome?

I know that no two cases of NLOG are the same, but I am curious about what triggered everyone's.

Medical professionals say it is caused by a combination of factors: genetic predisposition, chronic infections, environmental toxins, gut imbalances, hormonal changes, autoimmune disorders, and nervous system dysregulation that lead to mental and behavioral changes.

I'm wondering how many of us developed it from cats? 😽

The first time I realized my orange cat loved me more than anyone else, my NLOG became full blown. Cats are just so stingy with their affection that when one picks you, especially a grumpy one, it's a high like no other. I think I was 4-5 years old, so I have been living with it a long time - trying to recreate that first high ever since.

Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether lawsuits can be filed on behalf of people who have been affected by romance genre name pollution or nomenclature contamination

Our legal firm Gribeau Associates is looking into whether lawsuits can be filed on behalf of readers who have experienced property damage, lost property value, emotional distress and/or costs associated with obtaining clean subgenre nomenclature from romantasy readers generating genre name pollution and nomenclature contamination.

What You Can Do

If you read a romance genre and have experienced romance genre name pollution or nomenclature contamination from the romantasy readers, fill out the form on this page to share your story. You may be able to help get a class action lawsuit started.

How Could a Lawsuit Help?

A lawsuit could help affected readers recover money for any harm they’ve experienced and could also provide medical monitoring for health risks associated with exposure to the pollution and contamination. It could also require the romantasy readers and their PR firm Edgelord & Edgelord Consulting to pay for medical monitoring for future health risks and potentially force them to take actions to prevent further harm to readers.

What is genre name pollution and nomenclature contamination?

With increasing frequency, romantasy readers have been using phrases like "contemporary romantasy" "historical romantasy" "romantasy sci fi" "romantasy gothic romance" and thinking that these are new and unique things.

For readers who still have their mental faculties and call it 'fantasy romance' and use their words correctly to say things like "paranormal romance" "urban fantasy with romance" "sci fi romance" "fantasy romance with a period setting" "fantasy romance in the gothic style" - this kind of pollution and contamination causes irreversible harm.

How bad is it?

While romantasy readers like to claim that it is "no big deal" and "all language evolves" and "sci fi romance should have a better name" - we know these things are in fact, a very big deal and that they are wrong.

Sane romance readers who still possess more than 1 brain cell claim that the pollution and contamination, which includes low-frequency irritation that “manifests like vibrations,” has interfered with their ability to sleep, have conversations, relax and enjoy their books. Per several existing cases, readers have suffered annoyance, emotional distress, loss of comfort and enjoyment, loss of property value and an increased risk of potentially serious health effects.  Specifically, previously filed lawsuits claims chronic exposure can lead to elevated stress hormones, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, elevated blood pressure and even cardiovascular disease.

What do we know about who is generating the pollution?

Fantasy Romance Times recently reported that Edgelord & Edgelord Consulting is working with That One Very Sloopy Subreddit on this campaign. Anonymous whistleblowers provided evidence to journalists at the paper. From other public forums, we know that some of the brain cell challenged among us have hired E&EC as their PR firm.

Visual and aural pollution

Visual and aural complaints and concerns have been on the rise in local subreddits, with readers expressing frustration with what they say is a constant disturbance.

The pollution has been described by residents on forums such as Reddit as a “constant humming,” “a low hum that never stops,” a “low frequency buzzing,” a “high pitched [sic] whining,” a “high-pitched squeaking noise” or a “jet engine never turning off.” As one person put it, “Romantasy readers spewing their bullshit is relentless.”

People who frequent romance book subreddits have reportedly experienced health effects, including headaches, vertigo, nausea, sleep disturbances, ear pain and hypertension from the pollution.

Groundwater contamination

A lawsuit filed in March 2026 claims That One Very Sloopy Subreddit, on direction from E&EC, has contributed to contamination in Oregon’s Morrow and Umatilla counties through its operation of at least 13 wrongly genred posts in the last week.

The pollution lawsuit alleges that the posts and comments in Morrow and Umatilla counties is “dangerously polluted”, which can lead to various health effects such as birth defects and cancer.

According to the lawsuit, That One Very Sloopy Subreddit's use and disposal of genre nomenclature in its posts and comments has exacerbated the counties’ water pollution issues. The case claims the sub’s posts require hundreds of thousands of gallons of genre and trope related language per day to cool their servers and equipment, with some terminology evaporating each time it passes through the system. As the terminology evaporates, contaminants become even more concentrated, the lawsuit says. However, the case claims that instead of properly disposing of the high-contaminate wastewater, the subreddits channels some of it into open-air canals posts in other subs from which the water is sprayed directly onto land in the area. Misused nomenclature then permeates the new subs and contaminates the underlying aquifer, which supplies romance book discussion to reddit residents, the suit says.

That One Subreddit allegedly disposes of the rest of the wastewater by channeling it to the Port of Morrow, a port authority that processes industrial wastewater by dumping it on local farmland, the suit says. Per the case, The Subreddit is well aware that the Port of Morrow has repeatedly violated a permit that prohibits it from dumping more wastewater than the soil can absorb, resulting in contamination of the groundwater.

What laws have been violated?

Not entirely sure but it almost definitely includes securities fraud.

What comes next

If you live near a data center and experienced noise or water pollution, fill out the form on this page to share your story and learn more about how you may be able to help the investigation.

After you get in touch, an attorney or legal representative may reach out to you directly to ask you some questions and explain how you may be able to help get a class action lawsuit started. It costs nothing to fill out the form or speak with someone, and you’re not obligated to take legal action if you decide you don’t want to.

What MMC names are being auto-flagged for the Do Not Fly list?

i.e., what names do you hate?

I'll go first with who should be arrested immediately upon attempting to check in at the airport: Rathe/Rath/Wrath, Viper/Venom, Caden/Kaden, Jude, Kai

Is anyone else getting so sick of books being too smutty?

Just a little rant because I'm genuinely wondering if I'm the only one.

I LOVE reading, and what I love most is a good storyline, the slow burn, the yearning, the tension. Have the MMC call the FMC "baby" a few times and I'm happy. 😂

I don't mind skipping smut—that's not really the issue. The problem is when I'm skipping half the book because every other chapter is another sex scene or constant lust. Whatever happened to the actual story? So many books feel exactly the same now because everything revolves around the physical relationship instead of character development.

What's even more frustrating is seeing authors I used to love slowly shift in that direction. Their older books had a great balance, but now it feels like the plot exists just to connect one smut scene to the next.

I've DNF'd so many books this year it's insane. I'm constantly reading reviews beforehand trying to figure out how smutty a book is, but everyone's definition is different. One person's "a little spice" is another person's "every other chapter."

Maybe I'm in the minority, but we already live in such a lust-filled world. Reading used to feel like an escape from that, and lately it feels like I can't escape it anywhere.

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

And please don't tell me to curate my reads to my personal taste preferences, that isn't a reasonable solution.

Nanogenre recommendations inspired by 'A Game of Cat and Witch by Ruby Rune': House cat (or cat sidhe) shifters

I am reading {A Game of Cat and Witch by Ruby Rune} and it fucking slaps. Awkward witch x black cat MMC (literally and figuratively) It is a debut novel just published in May* and it does unhinged fun so well and is an academy romance which I love as a setting.

I am bad at reviews so all I can say is run don't walk to read it if you like this kind of book. Is it tropey? Yes. Does the author write it well so that she is using the tropes to tell a fun story versus using tropes as artificial scaffolding to hold up a shitty story? Yes.

The vibe:

>[Inscription] To all the girls who want to be chased through a maze and railed by a monster. This is for you.

>[Quote] His mouth, in particular, was devilishly lush. She wondered what it could do? Hurt her feelings, probably.

Here are three other books where one of the main characters is a house cat or cat sidhe shifter:

  • {The King's Captive by K.M. Shea} - If you liked or loved this K.M. Shea book with the FMC who shifts into a cat but wanted it more smutty and slightly darker with an MMC cat, read 'A Game of Cat and Mouse' meow.
  • {Waifs and Strays by Helen Harper} - Urban fantasy with very light romance, FMC is the cat
  • {October Daye by Seanan McGuire} - Urban fantasy with light romance where the MMC is a cat shifter

What other books am I missing that meet the parameters of this nanogenre? (If we ignore books with big cats or temporary spells or minor characters)

*Currently has less than 5k reviews on any platform I look at, so for all you readers with that fixation, have at it.

>>>> ETA: Should the chesire cat be allowed by the nano genre parameters? Please discuss, this is important.

A riddle for sloopies

A have a head but no face.

I have no legs, yet I stand tall.

I can be hard, but I have no bones.

What am I?

(Featured in {A Game of Cat and Mouse by Ruby Rune} which I am finding very fun. It is her debut book and this is supposed to be the first in a series)

My visitors are really messing with my design plan for my zoo by getting hungry in the wrong building

(Title is kind of tongue in cheek)

Just fyi - this is in the middle of being rearranged. There is more museum above and to the right. Just above is a long building that is the aquarium/marine life exhibit. Off to the top right is all of the desert animal pens. Planning to expand the jungle section as an indoors exhibit and grassland to go off to the above left, caves... somewhere.

Anyways - everyone gets hungry in the jungle building, but I really don't want to add any food in there. I have a cafeteria and the sushi place hanging out Not too far and centrally located, but no one seems to go. Any advice?

ETA: The sushi place was originally in the aquarium, but I was hoping making it more central would improve traffic - but maybe I don't understand how it works.
