14yo Founder (India) aiming for NYC. Is a "Proof of Work" portfolio enough for acceptance and 100% aid?

I’m 14. I run an e-commerce brand (Lumora) handling Shopify, IndiaMart suppliers, and marketing. I’m an intermediate graphic designer, video editor, and good at problem-solving. Family income is ₹7.2 Lakhs/year ($8,600), so I need 100% financial aid (NYC is the dream).

The Strategy:

My AI mentor is pushing me to build a Website Portfolio to document everything—from my "bad" posters and gaming videos at age 10 to current Lumora orders and supplier chats. The goal is to prove "Adulthood" and growth rather than just having a high GPA.

Questions:

Does a Portfolio help? Do admissions officers at NYU Stern or Columbia actually click links to see a kid’s business journey? Do people actually do this?

Exams/Docs: Besides the SAT and IELTS, what are the exact universal exams and docs (Passport, Visa, financial forms, etc.) I need to prepare?

Grades: Do 9th–12th marks all matter for acceptance, or just 10th and 12th Boards?

Proof of Work: Does documenting the "process" (chats, failures, screenshots) actually help with high-tier admissions, or should I just focus on the final results?

I really want to achieve this dream, so any advice on whether this portfolio strategy is "real" would be life-changing

Help Us With Sales Or We Are Gonna Drown In Debt 🤡💡

Hey guys! So, it’s the summer holidays, and while everyone is out enjoying their break, my co-founder and I are sitting here staring at a website that has everything except customers. We’ve been building our brand, Lumora Lights, for the last two months, and we’ve honestly nailed the technical stuff—the website is clean, shipping is ready, and the logistics are sorted. But here’s the reality check: when it comes to sales and social media, we are complete "dumbos." 🤡 We built the engine, but we have absolutely no clue how to drive the car or even talk to people.

We’re basically indirectly begging for help at this point because we don’t want all this work to go to waste. If you’re bored this summer and have even a little bit of interest in the entrepreneurship world, come join us and help us kill the silence on our order page.

We aren’t some stiff, corporate team—we’re just friends building a brand. The vibe is totally chill; nothing is "too toxic" for us. If we’re doing something stupid, tell us to our face or insult us in fun—we can take it, and we honestly want to learn from someone who actually understands the sales side.

This is a temporary "rescue mission" for the summer, but if you’re a legend and we start seeing those orders roll in, we’d love to hire you and keep you on the team permanently. Plus, you won't be working for free; if you bring in the orders, you're getting a solid cut of the profit. 💰 We’ve done the heavy lifting on the backend, now we just need someone with a "hustle" mindset to help us with the posting and outreach.

Please, if you know what you’re doing, drop your Instagram ID in the comments. Save us from our own lack of social skills and let’s get Lumora Lights moving! 📈✨

Need Help With Views And Engagement From Professionals

Hey everyone,

We’ve been running an Instagram brand called Lumora Light and honestly we’re confused and frustrated with the performance of our content.

We’re posting consistently — around 3 reels/videos every single day, trying different captions, hooks, and styles regularly. But most of our videos barely cross even 100–150 views. Some don’t even get pushed properly at all.

We’re trying to understand what we might be doing wrong from a professional/social media growth perspective.

A few things:

- We post consistently daily

- We experiment with different captions

- We try different editing styles and formats

- We’re not just reposting the same exact content

- Account is still relatively small/new

But despite all this, the reach is extremely low and it feels like Instagram isn’t even testing the content.

Would really appreciate honest feedback from people experienced in:

- Instagram growth

- Reels algorithm

- E-commerce brand building

- Content strategy

Is it:

- bad hooks?

- weak retention?

- shadowban?

- niche issue?

- account positioning?

- inconsistent branding?

- low quality targeting?

- or just normal for new accounts?

Here’s the profile if anyone wants to review

https://www.instagram.com/lumorastore.buy?igsh=eDBvaTN2d2doaDVi

Would genuinely appreciate constructive criticism instead of sugarcoating. Thanks.

I’m turning 12 this year, and my childhood is already broken. People say these are the best years of my life, but how can they be when I’m forced to kill my own dreams?

I’ve only received three gifts in my entire life. My brother got everything at my age—the laptop, the room, the phone. When I asked my mother for a laptop, a new phone, a SIM, or even just a FamPay account, the answer was always "no." I have a deep passion for space and lunar missions, so I finally asked for a ₹3k telescope just to see the stars and feel a spark of happiness instead of constant study pressure.

She killed that dream too.

But I’m not just sitting around. I’m proud of myself because I’ve already started an agency and a dropshipping brand. I even got my first order. I have a 15-year-old co-founder and we’ve done everything alone. Despite that, I still have to hide my success.

I have ₹500 that I’ve stored up from money relatives gave me, and I’m going to buy something cheap, wrap it myself, and act like someone gifted it to me just to feel a second of joy.

The real reason I’m done is my dad. He lives away from home for work and he is my inspiration. He is so hardworking that he would wear torn shoes just to fulfill our wants. He never denies us. But I have the proof—the screenshots—that while he is away, my mother is cheating and chatting with someone else late at night.

I’m moving in silence. My motto: "Jab kamaunga, toh uss din khud lunga." I’m giving myself until I’m 15 to be independent. I’ll do everything for my father and my brother.

Please, I just need some help, support, and advice. Help me make this viral so I can find people who have been through this.

Hello, I M Gonna Write Everything Honestly Here

So I Am Building Few Things And I Am 13 (i lied about my age in my old reddit posts) , idk am I even allowed but I m not like other kids I m confident with this thing and also proud that I can control myself and I know my limits

I am decent in school like scoring around 90-93% In Exams , Tbh I Don't Like Going School I Want To Travel World , Do Business , Make Music , Want To Travel Space

I'm very ambitious not into m@sturbating , relationships and any of this

I'm from India english is not my first language but still I'm trying to write this post on my own instead of using ai

I need motivation I have started 2 things 1 agency and 1 dropshipping business

I have a co founder too he is 15 he is also ambitious and i found him on discord so it's not like we r school frnds or something..

I tried a talent mngmt agency , agency mngmt , freelancing , discord server dev , mc hosting owner , influencer marketing agency , and a billion other things

At last i started working and locked in and built Hypenest (360 mngmt agency). And lumora (dropshipping brand)..

Then I paused HypeNest and started giving my best for Lumora

Built Shopify Website through ai , edited ads , helped my co founder communicate with supplier

While i did this my co founder founder suppliers asked ads managed shipping

We were in our prime and also got our first order

I can say that I earned my first own money at age of 13 which is a very good achievement for me

We are facing so many problems cuz every shipping partner requires pan card and we both are under 18

Parents , friends no one supports us still we managed somehow and now one more problem is there

In shiprocket to claim your cod money it requires that your pan card and bank details are same but we used someone else's pan card (with his permission) but we can't ask for his bank account

Wdk whay to we r tired working and need motivation

I may get replies like "leave it you are young" , but one thing is sure I m not gonna give up..

I want to take a break but I have already taken so many breaks I need motivation to just continue

I also want to build a physique bathing with cold water for 37 days straight and trying to wake up at 5:30am from last one week I have taken up 2/7 days and walked and ran

Sorry for my bad english again english isn't my first language

One thing I'm proud of is giving my 100%

I want this post to blow up
