His dark materials inspiration?

I just listened to the July episode about the most dangerous rock! I know I’m behind by a lot 😅
But the part about how the thickness of an obsidian edge can be so small it cannot be seen by light reminded me off the subtle knife from His Dark Materials fantasy series! An edge so sharp, it can cut a window between parallel worlds.
I forget the specifics, but this edge is referred to as ‘tapering to nothingness’ !
Also, the knife is incredibly powerful but prone to shattering- just like an obsidian!
I wonder if he was inspired by this fact about obsidian! That would be so cool!!

What other Paolini books should I read?

Going over the discussions in r/Eragon community I’m feeling huge FOMO! I’d only read the inheritance cycle, TFTWTW and Murtagh from Paolini and thought that covered all of the stories from Alagaesia.
After going over some of the threads from other communities, I went and read all the extra chapters available on paolinis website + Murtagh delux edition ( >!The excerpt from Domia Abr Wyrda blew my mind - there’s so much potential! The map has introduced such a big world! He can write books for ages!!< ). But even that does not seem to be enough! 😭
I always thought the Fractalverse was a separate series, but there are mentions of >!Angela’s presence there WITH ELVA!<?!?!
Are they related? Should I read them too?
What about To Sleep? That too?
If yes, what order should I read them in?!
Anything else im missing? 😭
I’m just a poor reader hungry to know more..

Edit: I tried asking this in r/Eragon originally but the post got held up for moderator approval, not sure why. Hoping to find some answers here 🙂

The Eldunari should know more about what’s beyond Alagaesia

When Eragon was looking for place to bring up the new dragons, why was he initially limited to Alagaesia? I mean, I get it from his perspective - he knows of nothing else. But I am sure during the peak of dragon’s time, current boundaries of Alagaesia mights have seemed as small as Surda to the dragons. They should’ve known of scores more appropriate locations outside of current map and shared these options with Eragon.

Could it be that they did and that’s how he decided to travel east? But it seemed more like a blind ‘into the unknown’ sort of mission from how the ending read.

Update: Apparently it’s already mentioned in the books that the Eldunari told Wragon about what lies in the east. Thanks u/UseSuccessful2407 for pointing it out.

Tell me, do you know what lies to the east? Is there another sea?”
“If you travel far enough.”
“And before that?”
Eragon shrugged. “Empty land for the most part, or so the Eldunarí say, and I have no reason to think that’s changed in the past century.”

Dobby’s having nasal problems

My Dog - Dobby, 10 year old Dachshund- been sniffling a lot like he has a cold. Sometimes a chortling noise from his throat. I checked his nose and I couldn’t see anything that could cause an obstruction and there’s no nasal discharge. He was at the vet’s recently for an xray. Had to be put under and he was there for half a day. I’m afraid he caught something at the vet’s. He is susceptible to catching diseases - he has food and env allergies. But never had sniffles ever.

He has arthritis and is on joint supplements and anti inflammatory - only other new thing.

I can’t get an appointment until Monday. Does anyone know what it could be? Anything I can do to make him comfortable?

Magnolia leaves are burning

Like the title says, my magnolia’s leaves are burning. It’s in a spot where it gets afternoon to evening sun. Is that too much? I also added some left over tomatoe fertiliser - diluted ofcz. But if that was too much for it, it could also be fertiliser burn.

Can anyone tell the root cause from the pics?

What is this shiny nodule on my cherry?

Just noticed a shiny nodule on my cherry tree. I have an aphid infestation and was hoping I finally got some lady bugs. But nope, just something the tree’s put out.

On a side note, any suggestions on what I can do to attract lady bugs? I’ve gone all organic already! And aphids are every where 😢

What’re those and how can I propagate them?

The sun has lead to all the plants in the nearby park to go into full bloom. Been collecting samples all week 😄

Came across this beautiful growing around a fence. Anyone know what it is and how I can get it into my garden?

To deck or not to deck?

This is the ideal place for a bistro set. It’s not in the way and tucks neatly into the garden. My plans are to put in a deck or put safe grass mat and let the grass grow through it. Either way, this drawing n covers will be in the way. Any suggestions that would work for me. The set’s - 110cm table plus four chairs.

What are these nubs on my wisteria root?

I was digging to plant some new purchases (as if I don’t have enough 😅) and I guess I dug to close to the wisteria and exposed some of the root. What are these strange nodules on the root? There’s too many to be bulbs for potential new shoot. It looks slightly smaller than a crocus bulb. There’s two or more ‘nodules’ attached to a single common ‘bulb’. Anything to be worried about? Is it an infection? or is this how the wisteria root generally are?

Why are my lavenders growing so slant?

I have a south facing garden and this section of the flower bed gets the morning sun. It’s not till 3pm that the sun crossed the 90deg mark and they fall in shadow. Still, coz they can sense the sun light, all plants in this strip shoot out their stems way past the flower bed edge and try to catch as much of the sun as possible.

I’ve made my peace with it. So I expected the lavender to have long flowering shoots. But why is it shaped like a curve? It falls over and then picks up enf strength to shoot up straight. It makes this section look so shabby 😢

Chamomile tea gives me headaches. What else can I do with my abundance of chamomile buds?

As the title states, Chamomile tea gives me headache. But I love the flowers and the smell so I have a plenty of them growing in the garden.

Now they are mature and too many to store for seed. What do you recommend I do?

Failed my first one

I’ve been waiting close to a year for the invitation. Practicing and honing my skills.
I made the most stupid mistake - didn’t want to seem hesitant and pulled out on a right turn in front of another car. It was far off but he was coming a bit too fast. 😭
I don’t want to wait another test for an invitation 😭😭
